This is actually a revision of this goo.gl/mHP2Ff but the major difference now is that it's precisely machined, It's more durable, reliable and more efficient. Nothing can beat hobbyist's rotary tools, but it's a prototype that I wanted to try out now that I own the PocketNC (5 axis desktop milling machine).

@@thegenerousdegenerate9395 I normally trust Johnny to make real things but I have to agree with this. It didn't sound or act like the vacuum powered one when he was actually using it, and it didn't bog down hardly at all when it was put to metal or wood. And it may just be my eyes, but the end shot, I feel like I can see it "cog" a little bit when he turns it off, like a rotor in a motor. I really want jq90 to clear this up, because I too call shenanigans.

I particularly love how your videos successfully illustrate just how much work goes into a project like this. So many of these type of videos leave people with the impression that projects like this can be quick and simple if you just have the right tools, but your videos successfully communicate the necessary skill and significant amount of time required for such an intricate design, while still not becoming excessively long! Great work!!

Even ABEC1 bearings are rated to 30k+ rpms when the bearings are this small. I think the loads and temperature are a bigger concern if he's doing sustained work with the tool. Temperature might be mitigated by airflow through the tool.

@@MATEKYOO i like that idea, but for that it would be bettet to use it like in a helicopter, they use the turbine to make rotate the rotor instead of for thrust. You shouldn't use such long reach tooling for every operation. Your feeds and speed could be higher and your finish will be better if you stick with appropriately sized tooling. The machine will also be quieter, which is evidence of better tooling selection.

You might want to make some sort of guard when using a thread milling cutter because you're going to have it catch one day and when it comes apart on you, its gonna be ugly. I had a similar bit shatter while using it in Bosch palm router with the base removed so it was basically how you were using this. Part skipped off my full face shield, another part went through two layers of sheet rock behind me and into the house, and another piece skipped out the open garage door never to be seen again.

I think this is better than the plastic one, since it is more precise and it has twin turbine, which compensates the torque loss. Since it is made from aluminium so it has more torque.

There's some electrical engineering guys that'd be mad you didn't just use the motor in the vacuum to drive the shaft... Then there's the machining guys that love the idea of a rotary that has no recharge time and what I'm guessing is actually quite a lot of torque.
