The scale of the model is 1:60 and it belongs at the OcCre series. The time I needed to make this model was approximately 6 months with hundreds of working hours. The cost was approximately 210 euros (without the display case). The varnish is gloss by choice because it "brings out" the wood, it's easier to clean, you cannot have any white spots and it looks better. You can see this as my trademark! To answer a typical question, yes, she will probably float, but you will never put her in water. Also this one won't be in my collection because i have build it for a good friend of mine.
This video comes in 4K and has 2 sequential parts, the 1st part is a photo montage (consist of more than 600 photos) of every step of the making and the 2nd part is a plain video showing the finished model.
The music tracks in this video with the order of playing are: American Idle ,Waltz of the Flowers by Tchaikovsky and Can Can by Offenbach.
The HMS Beagle was one of the most famous ships of its time for different reasons. The most famous of all they were without a doubt his journey of naturalistic research, captained by Commander Robert FitzRoy and with a young Darwin on board.
Launched in the Thames River on May 11, 1820, it was built by the Wollwich shipyards. In July of that same year, as part of the celebrations for the coronation of King George IV, it was the first ship to sail under the new London Bridge.
In total, the HMS Beagle made 3 great trips. It was not until his second trip, when Darwin embarked. Of the almost five years that this second expedition lasted, Darwin was three years and three months on land and eighteen months at sea.

Lovely work john, each time you have chosen a new kit I have questioned the choice because the new project didn’t strike me as better than the last. Yet after watching you build for several projects now I have come to realize that each of these vessels are stunning on their own. I didn’t think Beagle would be interesting after Montanes yet she is beautiful. In addition, and I hope I don’t sound patronizing, I think you as a builder are improving with each build. PerHaps that is Wolf’s influence😁 Keep it up John, I find your builds both fascinating and informative. It surely adds a level of difficulty to film and edit on top of an already complicated model. Love it. At 81 you have inspired me to keep going. I have ordered the "Terror" as my next build mainly because the museum that has my "Victory" already has a "Beagle." It is a very interesting ship with a great storyline that is of special interest to Canadians. I am using your info on the Beagle as a guideline to approximately how long it will take to build. At my age, I am lucky to retain my abilities to build except for my endurance. The building sessions are shorter as I get tired easily. It may take me twice as long, more than a year I suppose. Thanks for the inspiration. Cheers! John.

Many thanks for putting the time & effort into producing your video output, it is invaluable to a complete novice such as myself & judging by the comments on the individual episodes to the wider modelling community also. I stumbled over your channel by accident and quickly developed an urge to build the Beagle. I also quickly realised upon watching the double Hull planking episodes that I was watching an undoubted craftsman with a great deal of experience and that I'd be biting off more than I could chew. I've therefore ordered the Polaris and plan an Xmas start. I intend to apply techniques you have explained into my build. Do you have any 'weathered' examples within your published videos or do you prefer the ships to look as 'new'? Again, thank you for the inspiring content, bringing people into this hobby that would otherwise find the challenge to daunting to contemplate. The additional time & effort for content creation is respected & appreciated.
@JohnsWoodenShips

I cannot thank you enough for your kind words!!! I really appreciate this comment!!! Thank so much!!! I like my ships to be new, so you won't find any weathering in my series. I am also welcoming you aboard to this amazing hobby. I my self believe that the hardest parts of the modeling are the wooden sail ships and dioramas. You will make many mistakes, do not worry about that, that's the idea, that 's how you will learn. After 2-3 models you will see how you have evolved and you will be able to make works of art! In any case if you'll need any help do not hesitate to ask me :) Thank you again!!!

It is an easy model, the difficulty on this model is the rigging, not enough space on the deck to tie the ropes. Also you have to be very careful with the painting, the white is a difficult color. The hull is pretty easy and the deck also. You will enjoy this one!

Hello friend, Really enjoyed your video on this model! I've been eyeing it for a long time haha. I do have one question though, hopefully it isn't too silly but I'm seriously at such a loss right now lol, what on earth are those tacks you used with the yellow heads at 3:40 in the video? I have searched and searched and cannot find these at all. Do they have a specific name? I'm coming up on the planking for my ship now and I'd love to have some of these to help the journey. Thanks for uploading! :D
