This movie was the most amazing cinema experience ever for me. It is difficult to even put into words. Better than the original. And I love both. This movie is a spiritual experience as well. I cried tears every time!

I think that's kind of what she's supposed to be. The AI virtual assistant of the future. JOI seems to go a step further and employs a form of pseudo-mind reading to present itself as whatever the user "wants to see/hear." K wanted to be loved and feel like a real human so his JOI product acted like a romantic partner and K allowed himself to get lost in the fantasy of it. After he finds out > that he is not in fact the human-replicant hybrid, that he has been used, lied to and manipulated by literally every faction and every person in his life, he looks up and sees the JOI commercial. This rudimentary version of JOI, designed solely to advertise the product, repeats almost word for word some of K's Joi's dialogue from across the movie, including calling him "Joe." The commercial-Joi steps back into the advertisement, which reads "JOI: Everything You Want to Hear." At this moment K is forced to face the fact that his entire "relationship" with Joi was a lie. He might not even be capable of feeling true love. Deckard's love for his daughter is real. K might not be able to experience love but he can sacrifice himself preserving someone else's. Everything K did in the movie up until that point was for himself - even when he betrays the human authority, he only did so because he thought he was the hybrid and it was in his own interest. The "You look like a good Joe..." scene is the first time in K's life that he decides to do something truly selfless - and "becomes human."

Both Blade Runner movies are great. Incredible scenes, music, and an emotional plot many people can relate to (that is, if you are able to understand it). :)

I felt that K and Joi were the most tragic love story for a dystopian-future movie since THX and LUH in THX 1138. 💔
@JadeRunner3 жыл бұрын
Not really, as it turns out that Joi was never actually "alive" in the first place. "It" was just a computer algorithm that reads its owner's mind and then presents itself as whatever its owner desires. K wanted to be loved and to feel like a real human, so his Joi product presented itself as a romantic partner and simulated a loving relationship. There's clues to this throughout the movie (like "her" first scene in K's apartment, where she's frantically changing her appearance and mood. The Joi algorithm was going through its list of "K's likes" trying to find the one K wanted in that particular moment, but failing, probably because K's experience with Sapper that day left him in a state the programme had never encountered before, so it was frantically changing itself to try and find something that would please K in that moment). When K encounters the giant "Commercial Joi" towards the end of the film it repeats almost word for word some of Joi's dialogue from across the film, including calling K "Joe" (something K thought was a sincere sign of affection unique to his version of Joi). He looks at the commercial and it reads "JOI: EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO HEAR." "Joi" was never alive. "It" was never a conscious, sentient being. K's "relationship" with it was a lie. A fantasy he used to feel like a real human. The threesome scene wasn't actually a threesome at all. You were led to believe that the love in that scene was between K and Joi, while the hooker, Mariette, was only there to facilitate Joi's ability to make love. In reality, there were only two people in that room. The affection was between K and Mariette, while Joi was their excuse to make love. Seriously, watch the movie again with this in mind.

@@JadeRunner Yet Joi, perhaps either through a programmatic oversight or through some natural evolution of her "learning" ability (as such a personalized AI must) to the point of self-awareness, elected to help K escape Wallace and request that she be "mortal" and removed from the eye of her own manufacturer. It is very possible that this is just a glitch, a radical overgrowth of the concept of "do anything to please the owner" and that this was never the result of harboring any truly felt emotions or desires, but we are never given insight into the actual mind of Joi, should one exist. The closest analogue we have to Joi is that of a dog; something bred through intentional selection to behave along a certain conceptual path, that of complete, unfailing, unconditional loyalty and affection. Are a dog's emotions therefore never really authentic, or, indeed, valid? If they are either or both of these insofar as their "feelings" are a product of chemistry/experience as much as our own, then the question passes simply to peer into the experience, as it were, of Joi herself. But all we can see in front of us is her marketing, not her mind.

HMMMMM 50,000 YEARS AGO WHAT DOES THE HUMAN MIND PERCEIVE WHEN ITS MATE HAS HAD A STROKE? THERE GOES THE SPAWN OF RELIGION IN ITS BEGINNINGS. HMMMM (IN REASON I REASON) THIS IS FROM OUR INTIMATE UNDERSTANDING HANDED DOWN FROM OUR PARENTS EVEN FROM OTHER TRIBES AS WE LIVE IN PACTS. WHAT DOES THE MIND SAY IN AWE OF A FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE FOR BOTH PARTIES? IS THERE A GOD YET IN THEIR LIVES? WHAT DOES THE CHIEF OF THE TRIBE TEACH US? DO WE KNOW YET HOW TO TEAR (CRY) OVER A LOSS IN OUR LIVES? OR DO WE HAVE A HIGHER REALITY AND UNDERSTANDING YET TO SUSTAIN PEACE OF MIND? WE DO NOT HAVE LINGUISTICS WRITTEN YET. WE LEARN FROM THE WORD OF MOUTH HANDED DOWN FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION. THEN GOD BECOMES "" LIFE "" IN OUR EVOLUTION OF EVENTS FOR THE LEARNER TO A HIGHER COGNITIVE REALITY OVER TENS OF THOUSANDS OF YEARS BEING PASSED DOWN THROUGH WORD OF MOUTH. THEN LANGUAGE IS DEVELOPED IN WRITINGS ON WOOD, OR STONE, EVEN ANIMAL SKINS. † GOD † BECOMES THE SAVIOUR OVER LIFE"S ODYSSEYS OF LOSS THAT WE DO NOT YET UNDERSTAND. ONLY IN RECENT TIMES VERY RECENT TIMES HAS SCIENCE BEGAN TO UNDERSTAND "" THIS WORLD AND ALL IN IT "" THAT WE SHARE WITH ONE ANOTHER.{{ SCIENCE HAS BECOME OUR FATHER, OUR GOD, THAT UPROOTS THE SECRETS WITHIN LIFE"S BELONGINGS }} THOUGH WE CAN NOT FATHOM LIFE AFTER THE DEATH OF OUR BODIES. WHERE DO WE GO FROM THERE IS IN OUR SCIENCES. SCIENCE HAS ** MATERIALIZED ** BECAUSE IT IS OF AN EXISTENCE OF WHAT LIES IN OUR CREATION. GOD STILL IS IN LIFE"S PLACE OF ††HOPE†† TO THIS DAY. WE ARE THAT PRIMITIVE. THE QUEST FOR MANKIND SINCE CONSCIOUSNESS BEGAN IS TO ASK "" WHAT IS *** LIFE *** THAT WE LIVE IN? "" WHO CAN TELL US? BUT, THE ONE THAT OVERCOMES AS WRITTEN IN REVELATION CH.5.
