Hey Jeff, I've recently worked on a similar issues I had with my backhand with a really good coach. Their advice was to a) focus on my first step being quicker and b) try to be a fluid as possible with the stroke. The most important thing is getting the timing and angle of the contact right, because you can easily lose 20-30% of your power if one or both are off just a bit. So, with the backhand, always put smooth, fluid motion first! Secondly, try (in practice) to consider the whole kinetic chain, starting from the ground up, and try to move each part of it one after the other in the direction you're hitting to get a feel for the flow of the motion (i.e. trunk/shoulder rotation first, then upper arm movement, then elbow extension&supination, then tightening the grip). Sometimes we aren't stable enough in one of the moving joints and dont move it forwards, or even move it backwards a bit - that should almost never happen, and can under almost no circumstance produce a powerful shot. Hope that helps a bit :) PS I fully agree on the point regarding racket carriage, try to carry it higher (especially in doubles) and when going for a shot, try to take the shortest path possible to where you'll start the shot - no loopy movements around ankle/knee height!

Great points! That thought about the kinetic chain, starting from the ground up, is very intriguing. I've never thought about it that way before haha

Maybe you can try using your thumb on the bevel and not on the flat? as in the backhand clear, you might get more whip and travel of the supination. Also if you really want full power then the swing should start with the racket tucked close to the body and the elbow down but this might only really be necessary if your are hitting the shuttle really late. Good to see your channel active again! Looking forward to more!
