If you are working with pallet wood and wants straight boards, you could use a jointer. I don't have one, so I had to come up with another method.
I do have a cheap desktop planer, so here is how you use it to make straight boards. This is essential if you want to use pallet wood for tabletops, pallet wood walls, or even pallet wood floors.
00:00 Jesper Makes intro
00:35 Clamp the boards with a 90 degree angle to a flat surface
01:00 Run them through a desktop planer
01:20 Your boards are now straight and the same size

If you clamp with handles on opposite sides, the wood can go through the thicknesser/planer on an angle, and use the (almost) the full width of the blades, instead of simply one side (even the wear on the machine and blades). Using long screws, you could stack more boards, to match the full width of the thicknesser/planer (or tack with hot-melt?).

Hey , You learn something everyday. I learned from how you do it by clamping them together. I was doing them one at a time . In which the wood would be close , but not perfect using your method. I have recently bought a slot cutting bit for my router and have been using the 1/4 inch slot to make them tounge and grove . Which is simple to do once the set up is done. For anyone out there who might use my trick. WHEN SETTING UP . PLEASE USE SCRAPS .

Wouldn’t the top of the boards follow the warps of the bottom boards while planing?
@JesperMakes
@JesperMakes 2 жыл бұрын
Normally yes, but because I clamp 5 boards together on a flat surface, they'll form a flat surface together and the top will be flat. Then we have that as a reference when we turn it over and flatten the bottom.

Hi Jesper! I've been following your channel for a while and I gotta say that I find it particularly interesting, I think you do a great job with pallets, not only because you recycle and reuse wood, also because you get really impressive projects! I would like to ask you about the tool you use for desktop planer because I really need one like that to be able to use the wooden planks. What is the name of the tool that you use?
