during my first listen I was disappointed, but as I kept listening, it started to grow on me. The thing about Joji to me is that his music usually takes time to settle in to hear every individual note and sound and you’ll soon realize that you’re in love with it. I’ve been replaying this album over and over without realizing that I was actually starting to enjoy it lmao

Literally what I and a friend of my think about Joji, we don't how it is possible but at a first listen the songs sound like shit and then the second time you hear them, they are the best songs you have heard in a while. We called it Joji's passive😂

This album is one of those where you can get addicted to 1-2 songs and think "Man, why in the world the others on the album are SO trash?" But then with some time, they start to like those that at first didn't really liked... I mean, that's Joji's specialist.

I honestly thought I was the only one that has experienced that with Joji's music....Like he would release a song and I would think "this is good but not my favourite" and then with time I start absolutely loving the song

for me its cause it doesnt feel like Joji. yeah its a pretty album, but it doesnt have that feeling albums like Ballads and In Tongues gave. which isnt a surprised. most of Smithereens isnt even made by Joji. i think joji literally had any involvement in like 3 songs. I think the label should let Joji produce his own music again fully. although if Joji's happy i cant complain. thats if he is happy tho idk hes quiet

@@Somewhere_Bagel I have no clue where you got any of this from, joji definitely worked on all of these songs. I don’t understand why you would assume his label would remove his involvement in his own final album with the record label.

@@denni8271 you can literally look up who was involved in waht song. Joji only produced 2 songs in that album. and wrote for 4. but with like many other writers too. look at the end of the day, if hes happy, im happy. but i can still be dissapointed that he has strayed from the things that made him unique.

It’s too short and hardly any trap beats. Nightrider was the gem of this album.

I see a lot of comments saying this album grows on you but for me it was instant. I don’t think I’ve been able to emotionally let go to an album before but this one did it. Great reaction as always!

Love this album surprised it’s so divisive. I hate to dismiss peoples opinions but i just feel like some people just don’t get Joji and never will. And that’s fine I don’t think it’s a problem with the music itself.

@@chris.alexander.06 agree. its why i think BALLADS 1 is still his best album to date, cause almost all of the tracks were made entirely by him. It got that joji-esque feeling

There are songs I love immediately and then the love fades. This song took me a year to comeback to. On the 10th listen… I liked it. Now each time I listen to it, I tear up. So good. So good.

As a people who already listening to Joji in long-term, this album feels like the other scenarion that it shouldn't happened like previous. Heck, even only certain song that I love such as Feeling Like The End, Dissolve, Die For You, 1AM FREESTYLE, I'm still crying with those memories...

Thematically, technically and artistically speaking, this is Joji's best release. It takes balls to release a two-tiered album but it is reflected in the simple album art, in that there's a dark blue and light turquoise. He's growing as a person and it's revealed through his lyrics. Whatever he's searching and yearning for, Joji is showing a certain grace and maturity about a former lover. To end the record with the phrase "I don't want to be alone" is both incredibly tragic and honestly raw and it makes me worry for our boy.

To me I think this is what half of what joji can do. Still love the album (got one of his hoodies matter of fact) but some of his song just kinda end abruptly and I feel like there could or should’ve been more. If there will be more music in the future and if those song are even slightly better then smithereens then joji to me has improved LEVELS. Regardless I still think he is an amazing artist and has in-fact dropped a banger

I think you would realky enjoy Quadecas new album. Its amazing seeing his journey from diss trakk youtuber to an amazing singer, rapper and producer. Its been recieved way better than anyone could imagine. There is also a full movie that connects with the album that you should watch while reacting. The album is a beatifully sad story about him being a ghost and observing his loved ones from a space between life and death.
