I dont think that they didnt want her to have a career, i think back then it was moreso of other artists on the rise who couldnt compete with jojo lyrically but had the style and apperance to go alot further and releasing her from the contract would have given another label the opportunity to sign her and release new music. Also jojo is the youngest recording artist in history to have a #1 billboard platinum album. Sometimes when labels are able to recoup more money off an album they will shelf you instead of releasing a new album. This is to my knowledge im no pro.
