Hey all, as I said I'm at the end of the video, I would love some feedback on how to communicate these concepts even better. Let me know!

"Multiplicative" is a bit of a mouthful, with that many syllables it's easy to not know where to put the stresses or even drop a whole syllable. I find the issue most people have with large words is not knowing where to divide the syllables. Try this out: Mult -i, (stress on mult, the i kind of sounds like "uh" rather than a long "eye" sound.) plick- a- tive, (stress on plick) Once it's separated into those two parts its much simpler. Multi plicative. If every syllable was its own word, it would be easier to pronounce the same syllables, but when they're all run together with no spaces in between, especially with a word you have seen more in writing than heard aloud, it's tough to pronounce certain words. I'm pretty good at it but when I hear a longer especially scientific or technical term I've only ever seen and not heard, I have no idea where to put the stresses. I genuinely hope this helps, feel free to hide/delete this comment once you've seen it if you want.

One point of feedback I have would be to slow down the gameplay footage you are using to demonstrate your points - im sure you were using footage from some actual runs, but I feel that having the 4x gamespeed is really hard to follow for a "tutorial" type of video such as this. Having it be on 1x or 0.5x speed would, imo, better show what you're saying, especially to anyone who may not be familiar with the concepts you're demonstrating! Another point would be - for the Midas Mask/Vampire interaction, perhaps taking a clip of each placement to be *showing* what you meant, rather than only *telling* Relatively minor critiques, still is a very informative video that was done really well! Just since you were looking for feedback, these are the two things that stuck out most to me

Thanks for this video! This is a pretty major game mechanic that doesn't get nearly enough clarification or explanation in the actual game. It's unfortunately something that puts me off it as well. I'd go as far as to say I'm certainly competent enough at maths, but when it comes down to then having to solve longer and longer equations in my head whilst mid-game, it really just takes me out of the experience and any form of relaxation I'd have hoped to achieve from jumping into a session.

So I saw one comment that mentioned showing the math slowly so you can see each operation as it happens, and to add to it, maybe even slow it enough that you can show "this is the baron activating the king, then the reactivation of baron from the brainstorm, now the mime causes a new round on that king..." but more importantly when you have this much math happening, it's not intuitive what the right answer is and I think one way to really convince people you are right is to run both baron duped and mime duped and THEN break down the math so that instead of "trust me, the math, bro" you get them to wonder why baron duped works out. Run both cases so everyone sees, explain the math, break down how the triggering sequence matches the math for a given example. Because what you showed is one of the more complex cases but then you get even more complex when you add a blue print to that exact case. "Should I throw blueprint on the baron or the mime?" And the same thing happens when you have multiple retriggers in your hand(sock em busken + dusk, hanging chad, etc)

Definitely one of the major concepts that stops newer players from pushing through the harder stakes. It's really confusing especially when there are differences with mult that trigger before things on the left because they are on play vs on score and etc..

I love the content and the fact that you're explaining complicated math stuff that the game doesn't go out of its way to explain to you. This is a simple enough game at its core concept but the permutations of the game with all the cards that grant additional effects and convoluted math rules do turn it into a complex game in the end result. Order of math operations trips up plenty of people who know full well how to do the math. I've even seen mathematicians argue over PEMDAS and it's their whole job to know math. It reminds me how most people struggled with the Monty Hall problem, it looks simple, but most people, even mathematicians, got it wrong. So even simple stuff can be prone to common errors from people, and any explanation that is correct really helps. I don't think this material could have been presented much better in terms of content, it is possible that the screen with all the parentheses makes the math look more complex than it really is. Maybe a flow chart could help to keep the logic clearer, which would be easy to present in a graphic drawn up in MS paint. Little square at the top, this is the first score trigger (I'm not even sure what the first trigger is, but it's probably got to do with the card's chip value or the jokers that turn cards into gold cards, stuff like that) arrow leading to the next square right below it, next trigger arrow leading to the next square containing the next trigger and so on. Probably don't even need a chart, just a list 1 through whichever number, and it lists all the orders of operations that way. If something at the end retriggers things, it could be helpful to say which parts of the list or flow chart it is going back and retriggering, or draw an arrow. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. It's the exact same information just presented in a manner that can appear less cluttered to the eye. Also will echo what someone else said about slowing down the animations of the card triggers just for illustrative purposes. It's a lot to convey and no matter what you do it's going to appear slightly complicated but yeah the presentation can help clear it up a bit. Overall I'd say you've got all the right information which is the most important and the presentation maybe could be 10 percent clearer in certain spots, but you're the one doing all this work and offering all your expertise for free. At a certain point it's really on the audience to take the steps and understand what you're saying. I'm only offering the above purely because you did ask specifically how to improve it. Had you not I'd have been this is excellent content, great video, etc. as per usual.

This is seriously a game changer. Thanks for this video, wish this was explained in the game. If I had made this game I would have made sure the order didn't matter and to have the code give the most optimal total by calculating all possible orders and giving the best.
@Squant
@Squant 14 күн бұрын
But the entire point of the game is to make good decisions. It needs to give you decisions to make. Not to mention, enhancements can complicate cards even further, forcing you to adapt your strategy by potentially placing cards in a seemingly suboptimal order. That's like, core gameplay right there, removing it would be detrimental.

To be honest, I think talking about "timesing" is way more clear than "multiplying" in a game where Mult and xMult already have a specific meaning. It can get confusing pretty quickly.

I'm new to deck building so i guess they just expected you to know all of this stuff because the game was built for people who already play deckbuilding games. I had no idea about any of this because the game does a poor job of explaining this . I had no idea you could even rearrange the jokers . I can't help but be bad at something if its never fully explained how to play it. In fighting games you understand all the rules before hand. Sure it took me years of experience to get good at them via experience but at least i understood the rules . I guess experience in other deck builders are needed.

I think they should add 1 Joker that allows to see how much the current hold cards will give once played, before playing it. It would take a joker slot and therefore not make it cheap to take. And it would allow us to have a better idea of what is happening when moving around cards and jokers.

For the high score example, does anything change when you have two copies of brainstorm? Or is it still always better to copy baron?
@ZainoTVLive
@ZainoTVLive 2 ай бұрын
Depends on red seals, the thing about two brainstorms is they have to copy the same thing, so you're going to add two to one side of your equation no matter what. Ideally you still want to even out the number of x1.5s and retriggers as much as possible.

If you have the joker that adds +mult for each queen you want to move those to the left of your steels?
@ZainoTVLive
@ZainoTVLive 2 ай бұрын
Yes, but the queens themselves. The joker placement won't matter the cards in hand will trigger left to right. So move the queens to the left so they add before the steels x1.5!!!
@Slatefield100
@Slatefield100 2 ай бұрын
Yes. Those will also scan left to right, so your Queens should sit to the left of your Steel cards before playing the hand. You can reorder all three play fields after every discard and before you play, and that Joker is one of the few that care about the order of cards in hand.
