As a person who was adopted, making dark jokes about not having parents and my dad being in jail is my favorite thing to do and it pisses off my friends because I make it awkward on purpose.

I’ll preface this with my dad is dead and has been for like 10ish years at the time of this story. I’ll call him Ted for the story. So I had a telemarketer call to try to sell windows and they asked Ted. I told her that sorry but he couldn’t come to the phone right now but we weren’t interested. She decided to play a risky game and informed me that she had actually spoken with Ted previously and he had been interested so she was calling back. I asked her really?! She had spoke with him?? She told me she had. I asked her when and she said a few days ago. I said that she truly had such an amazing gift, cause my dad had been dead for 10 years and that if she spoke with him again, tell him I love him. I then hung up the phone. I wonder if she tried that strategy again haha

This is great. My dad was killed when I was 4 so obviously my only parent was my mom. I went running to ask her for something when I was 10. She said no. Even though I knew I had no dad it still flew out of my mouth, “I’ll ask dad.” My mom didn’t miss a beat. She turned her back to me, looked up, whispered, turned back around and said, “he also says no.” 😂😂😂 I have 3 kids of my own now. The first time one of them went running to their dad after I said no I instantly said, “shit, that’s what it’s like to have 2 parents.” 😆
