I work at a vet practice, during COVID I told a client they had to wear a muzzle to the practice instead of a mask. (they had a dog which required a muzzle) one of the vets was sat next to me and fell of her chair laughing.

Little slip of the tongue. I’m a hairstylist and early in my career a client came in and asked if we had any perm discounts. I said no we don’t have any sperm discounts panicked and said oops sorry we don’t even have sperm here. She looked at me in the eyes and said honey, I’m 82 years old I have no use for sperm, that was 10 years ago. It is still the best response to a word blunder that I’ve had in my career. Maybe in my whole life in general. Woman was a quick witted legend!

Toni, you remind me of my very dear friend who died suddenly in 2017. I miss her. You have the same abundance of energy and laughter. She used to work with special needs kids and *everyone* loved her. You should have seen the hundreds of people who came to her funeral. I promise this is a compliment, not a death wish

In late August of 2023, I had a ‘gut feeling’ that something was not right in a region of my neck where I’d had minor surgery 10 years prior. I went to the doctor and he sent me to an oncologist. The specialist took my vague suspicion seriously and ordered a PET scan. It turned out to be pharyngeal cancer in its earliest stage, barely detectable even with the semi-magical imaging technology. Whenever I go in for a follow-up exam, I get the side-eye from the clinic staff as they struggle on a daily basis with the mysterious killer and then I just breezed in one fine day and said “Hey, folks, wouldja mind taking a look at this.”
