My best friend got a film degree from the University of Utah in 2003 or '04, moved to LA, took any job on any set that came his way, and learned everything he could about every department. Several years and four Emmys later, he's one of the best audio guys in the biz. He didn't end up as the next Wes Anderson, like he hoped, but he averages about one work day per week and still owns a $1.2 million home in Park City. He busts his ass when he needs to---last summer he spent a month in the Sahara Desert of Niger working on a documentary---but it affords him a lot of down time to spend with his son or skiing or traveling or whatever. Morning Meeting is quickly becoming one of my favorite shows. Don't let the negative comments bother you on the Reddit thread. The vast majority just show the commenter's ignorance. I wasn't a huge fan of Blitzball battle at first either, but I'm hooked on season 3. As a result, I've stumbled into We Got Ice and that's been super fun. I've loved seeing different faces on the Talkin Yanks pregame shows this season and Talkin baseball is still a must watch. The Weekly Dumb is still a great break from serious sports discussion. You have enough irons in the fire that if one aspect of what you do is not highly anticipated but you enjoy it than keep with it. The Warehouse Games content is easily my favorite thing you guys do. My son in 3.5 months old and we watch each game of Blitzball Battle 3 together and it's one of the only things that completely grabs his attention, to the point he won't even eat while it's on. The energy and production is just so insanely fun. On BB3 Game 8, I definitely think the result was anti-climatic BUT I think it was totally within how the rules were set up. I think it prompts future discussions (which I'm sure already happened) about how it can be rectified moving forward but you are playing to win. I think if you had pitched to them and then got eliminated, it would have been briefly funny but I think would have left a bad feeling for the competitive integrity of the game. Yall set the tone by making that decision for all the teams that winning is what matters most and IMO that level of competitive intensity is what makes great content. Just look at game 9 between Como and Rotten. The competitive intensity is so high that it's exciting to watch.

@@packers12to80 I understand all the games are pre-recorded.. I'm not sure what you are even on about. I was commenting based on what we knew at the time based on released content which is all they were really looking for. Suggestions for rule changes are for BB4 which hasn't even begun to spin up yet. Easy solution I saw elsewhere to ensure the situation that happened here doesn't happen again, have a 3rd pre-tourny game between 2-0s and 0-2. It serves as an elimination game for 0-2 and seeding game for 2-0. Completely eliminates someone getting eliminated on breakers.

Jomboy, I always found the need for separate channels for every single bit of content you do to be really confusing. I think the irl+game shows/trivia+baggage, then a channel for baseball+breakdowns+podcasts and then a video games channel is all you need. Anything else is splitting your fanbase. It's been rather frustrating to find a new JM channel that I have to subscribe to nearly every day. What led to you guys going this route where every series and podcast seems to just have its own channel now?
@kieran1938

Here's my main takeaway. I've been a listener for years, started with Talkin' Yanks and Talkin' Baseball, and I would listen to them while working during high school (and would binge-listen to JJR back in the day!). Now I'm a junior in undergrad at college, and I listen while walking to class, driving, etc. I have expanded my horizon to also listen to Talkin' Giants, but will probably never be a consistent viewer of Warehouse Games, Weekly Dumb, etc. Podcasts and KZfaq are not the same audiences, and I say this as someone who is primarily a listener. There could be some overlap, but there will also be people who primarily consume one way and never really deviate from that. But you should also be advertising more for other things within the company. Like even at the end of breakdowns, YT content, pods, whatever, there should be a quick read for multiple different shows. You don't need to go into detail for all of them; most of the titles are self-explanatory enough. If people hear something they like, they go check it out. Even if they don't, it gives viewers a better understanding of what Jomboy media is as a whole and kind of the bigger ordeal.

jomboy, like many ceos and corporate entities, are lured in by the false premise that companies need to pursue infinite growth in order to be deemed "succesful." In pursuit of this, he will use human capital as a means to achieve this, with little concern over the ebb and flow market variations that this infinite growth mode will undoubtedly become exposed to. His "man i wish things could be different and i wish i didnt have to fire them" attitude falls on deaf ears from my perspective, considering you have to hire in order to fire. He chose to pursue infinite growth, and wants to act like the good guy when he realizes hes out over his skis. Also would be interesting to know what you and jake took home last year and compare that to the 6 salaries you cut this year. Were these people worth taking a pay cut on your end? How many millions did you pocket last year?

Hey Jom love the content. I notice you tend to upload all the breakdowns, I imagine when you finish them, which could end up dropping like 3-5 at a time in a cluster. I was wondering if there was analytics that might show if it would be more beneficial to your channel if you spread them out more like 1 a day or a few hours apart? Or maybe have a preset time each day that breakdowns drop like 4pm and 6pm (or whenever YT traffic is highest for the channel), so people know when to look for videos and you get the high initial wave of click rate as people expect the video as maybe people aren't on youtube if a breakdown goes live late at night. I know it is critical to release as soon as possible to the date the event occurred for obvious reasons, but maybe it could lead to certain videos getting lost in the shuffle when so many drop at once and maybe only one gets put in the recommended video area at a time. Just a thought and I very well may be uninformed on KZfaq analytics/performance data.

In regards to layoffs. I started with a company when they had under 300 employees and ended up growing to 27K employees in less than 7 years, then back down to 12K employees. I saw that growth first hand and saw the reduction in staff first hand. Although I wasn't impacted by the layoffs it was terrible to just see it happen. Layoffs are never easy, it's never personal, and it's usually a matter of rightsizing because that growth happened too quickly. I imagine you laidoff some great people, who will continue to be great and go on to do great things somewhere else. Keep on keeping on Jomboy and staff. Jimmy, you've built an empire on positive energy, good humor, and the love for baseball and sports. Stay true to who you are and you'll always have our support. Sad to hear about the layoffs. It's a painful process. I'm sure as you grow there will be more painful lessons, but it's so much harder with the lives of employees and people you care about. I hope those who had to leave find peace and comfort, and I hope the same for all of you.

One thing I’ll say as a fan is that I didn’t even know this Mornin’ With Jomboy channel existed until this morning, even though you’ve probably amassed 60% of my total YT views over the past several years (blitzball, breakdowns, weekly dumb, baggage, geoguesser, etc.). I think most people are like me in the fact that they probably don’t read full video descriptions and skip endorsements at the end of videos, so maybe plugs for some non-flagship channels are getting missed?

As a content creator who also works a full time job, Ive experienced periods of major growth on KZfaq only to hit a stretches of stagnation at times. I would love for Jimmy to talk a bit more in depth about the algorithm, because I'm just scratching my head at this point. Been a fan since the very beginning btw.

BTW: My headcanon is that Matt was one of the people booing at the end of the Baggage/Pinstripe game. I just went back to the game, and after Jake's last pitch, there's a crowd shot where Matt is in the stands and eventually cups one hand by his mouth and says something. He's probably calling for someone for some production-related thing, but in my mind he's booing.

Also it would be great if you guys had some sort of website where there could just be a feed of all the content you put out across every different channel. As someone who *does* like everything it’s hard to keep up since KZfaq doesn’t have a way to organize subscriptions into folders/feeds. It took me a long time to even discover all the different channels, since you don’t often go to the “channels” tab on someone’s page.

I really like Jimmy and Jomboy in part because you take reddit comments seriously. I like the spirit and amount of thought/time that was put into this discussion. On the other hand, you guys shouldn't take reddit comments that seriously. Half are real comments contributing to the discussion, the other half are jokes or people trying to make jokes and then sell karma. I saw that top upvoted comment "TIL Jomboy was more than..." and it made me laugh in an ironic way even though I know how big and real the company is. But still I upvoted it because it made me laugh. A lot of people will upvote something that is funny even if they disagree/know it's not true. Sorry you had to lay people off. Good luck in the future guys! In a world that feels more "AI generated" it's refreshing and exciting to see all effort and thought you put into the stuff you do.

I don't understand why so much people were angry at them for that reason, must be kids who never got to work yet ? They can just keep on hiring people and at the end having 50% of staff having salary with not much to do. The persons let go will still have the experiences gained and will use it on their next job, it's part of our work life. Can't believed social media nowadays, people complaining about nothing really.

I've never seen a creator go head up against any criticism or comments from different sources all over. Very interesting, very open and honest. A win I think, a unique way to battle and clarify shots from those that talk against product. Not sure if good or bad and I think that time will tell, which makes it a win based on that alone. All else is bonus. !!!

Blitzball 3 is one of the best things on KZfaq. Production, play, storylines…. It’s incredible. Like, after blitzball 2, wasn’t sure if I would come back, because Plouffe was just better…. But then como came in (which was necessary. They needed to be here) and “Love Ya’s”….. YA LOVE TO SEE IT. And I’m here for Drew too. Love MLW, hate the cobras, but love Drew and I hope that man thrives. The warehouse did really pull me in with floorball though. Man, I’ve always loved wiffle ball, and I watched some como and some blitzball, but I probably would have never enjoyed it this much anywhere else but JM and the warehouse. You are doing all the things right, and I don’t think blitzball is that divisive outside of where we are to be honest. NY breeds purists, and I’m not in that mold. I see those umps in blitzball 3 and always think “how the hell can I be one of them?” I got all sorts of signals for fouls, outs, strikes, half swings…. Man and I’m a goofy dude. Don’t stop being you, I gas y’all up all the time to my friends and brothers as “the ones who are doing it right” because you are. LOVE YA

First off, just want to be a voice of support to Jomboy Media. I think this is a special company that is doing things in a really refreshing and modern way, and doing that with dignity. It’s tough to have to let people go but it’s sadly a reality of business, the low moments make the hard earned rewards higher. Looking forward to seeing what comes next for JB Media. Secondly, question for the floor ball tournament. What is the reasoning for only 1 non male player? Curious to know what goes into that decision, if a 50/50 split was considered or if non male tournaments are being drawn up? All Women Blitzball Tournament for example? To be clear this isnt an attack on the current formats, just curious on how the teams get chosen and where there JB are thinking of growing?

Not a company question as much as a blitzball one, but maybe this is still the best place to ask. Back in the Back alley and early warehouse days, it was pretty common to see pitchers go with that high looping curveball, but over the past few months worth of tournaments it feels like I've barely seen it thrown. Is that because a lot of guys have figured out how to hit it, or do pitchers just feel more confident that other pitches are more likely to be strikes? Keep up the good work. I don't know much of anything about floorball, but if you ever decide to cover the warehouse floor with a foot of sand and do a beach volleyball tournament, give me a yell. I can bring up a team of 40+ year olds to compete.

I really love this podcast. Getting your unfiltered behind-the-scenes take on the company's journey and growth path is super interesting. Have you guys thought about having a show in Spanish or targeted to the Latino market? MLB already has social media content dedicated to Latino audiences and Latino players. It's a huge market right now and is going to continue growing over the next few years.

Totally disagree about that morning schedule- going to bed at 8pm and up at 4am? Not for me. I’m a baseball guy and you have to be a night night owl to do the post, west coast games, etc. etc- for me - bed @2am and day starts @10 am and I love it. Don’t have to deal with all that BS, traffic, morning chaos, etc

I love the Blitzball Battles. It's a strange mix of backyard/neighbor game with professional production and broadcasters. Even the sideline reporter is a pro. The rules have also gotten better. I love the require of each player getting at least two ours. The only thing I think could be improve on is artificial speed limit. Perhaps using a custom, bigger and lighter ball so the speed limit is built-in?

I think Blitzball is awful, but that doesn't mean you should get rid of it if a bunch of other people like it. I don't get why people have to demand something be removed from a channel if they do not enjoy it. Just watch the videos you enjoy, and let others do the same.

Two part question: 1) Do more subscribers or non-subscribers watch JM videos? 2) YT produces stats on how many hours of content get uploaded and viewed per day, do they also produce stats of how many hours of content the average user gets from their subscriptions per day? I know I just went through and unsubscribed to a few of my subscriptions because I was getting overwhelmed by too many uploads for me to keep up with
