I dont think you guys really understand how good Anik is not just in the MMA realm but in play-by-play commentary regardless of sport. Guy is just spot on. I remember being a little bitter when he replaced MG but man has he done an exceptional job. I hope he stays with the UFC for many decades. I enjoy his commentary.

the 12-6 elbow was banned in 2000 when the MMA Unified Rules were introduced. This fight happened in 2009. There were several 12-6 elbows thrown in the fight, but at this time different refs had different interpretations of what “12-6” meant. You can see a JRE interview with John McCarthy where he details himself and Herb Dean having a different understanding of the rule.

On god bro, people often degrade him saying he used steroids and PEDs that made him stronger and faster and stuff. If thats the case, Ngannou should be the goat as he is the strongest or some flyweight dude because he is fast, but obviously they aren't the goats. So, the argument about being the GOAT ultimately comes down to one thing - Technique. One can pop as many pills as he wants but he will never have the Fight IQ, understanding of MMA, innovations of new skills (like the spinning elbow, etc.) that Bones has.

The argument for the GOAT comes down to who has the best résumé, not who has the best technique. Jon Jones is not the GOAT because his record is tainted with multiple failed drug tests and cheating (eye pokes) in almost every fight. There is no question that steroids significantly increases athletic performance, they don't just make you stronger, they improve stamina, speed, reflexes, and reduce recovery time. Downplaying the advantage it gives is disingenuous.

@@Rich-ht5hw Even if you want to consider résumé, he still beat a lot of legends and straight up killers in that division way before he got tested positive. Even if you exclude the matches in which he got tested positive, you will still be left with a lot of amazing fighters that Jones beat.

@straightlusac You really think Jones is the best technically? He's obviously good technique wise for someone in a higher weight class, but still the level of technique of middleweights and above drops off substantially. You almost can't compare them to the lighter weights. Additionally, his striking has always been reliant on having a frame advantage. His boxing is just not good. Both Gus and Reyes outboxed him.
