@@AvishalomShalit All I know was that I was told by a couple people in the media that there are four big PR firms in the country, and if they decide a specific topic is off limits and you choose to talk about it no matter how big or small you are they have enough control in the industry that you may never work again anywhere in the industry in any capacity. There are plenty of topics they don’t care about, and they even sometimes change their position on an issue. And there might be an occasional person who survives the fallout when it happens. But I’m convinced every single person involved with this footage seeing the light of day took a huge risk. Jon Stewart seems to have survived it just fine, but I wouldn’t be surprised if someone further down the chain lost their career in anything media or Hollywood for life for being associated with this. I’m convinced even Jon Stewart was taking a huge risk, but since he can essentially be retired and it won’t destroy him to never work in the industry again he has the ability to take the risk. And I think the PR firms also realized as edgy as this was at the time letting it air was actually a good strategic decision for their objectives.

That is what is most worrying. I'm beginning to suspect that it was the US behind the pandemic and not China. Regardless of party, regardless of administration, the US has proven more than willing to displace or kill millions of people around the world in just the last 15 years. China is responsible for untold suffering within its borders, and their government cannot be trusted, but last I checked, they didn't bomb 7 nations 25,000x in just 1 year. That was 2016 and the US government. If parties within the US were not solely responsible for the pandemic, they certainly had their thumb in the pie. And I say this with all due contempt for China's manipulation and lies propagated by the WHO.

Colbert sold his soul years ago. As a liberal I do not find him inspiring or even the least encouraging. He's an embarrassment and thoroughly intellectually dishonest. He knows he has sold his soul but rationalizes it daily, perhaps hourly. The tens of millions of dollars he makes every couple years aren't enough. He is actively struggling to prevent a psychotic breakdown. Stewart had to walk away form the Daily Show for this very reason, and that's why he still has shreds of sanity left, and probably sleeps more soundly than Colbert.

The average age of death from Covid is over 80 yrs of age. It's the only pandemic, perhaps the only virus ever, in which the average age of death is above avg life expectancy. For literally every other viral pandemic on record the avg age of death is decades lower than avg life expectancy. The YPLL for H1N1 is orders of magnitude greater than it is for Covid19. I think Colbert is probably a pretty reasonable and funny guy who generally agrees with Jon Stewart's very basic and common sense argument about the crazy coincidence that the Wuhan respiratory coronavirus research lab just happens to be located at ground zero of a novel coronavirus pandemic. But, just like Jimmy Fallon canceling Norm McDonald due to pressure from his weeping and sobbing producers, Colbert is probably frightened to death of his younger staffers as well as all the douchey woke culture writers (for irrelevant infotainment sites like Daily Beast, HuffPo, etc) who will definitely whine and cry about what Jon Stewart said. If Stephen just sat back and laughed instead of appearing uncomfortable then he would be just as guilty as Stewart for spreading 'xenophobic misinformation.'

Actually things are politicized because it perpetuates control over both bases. There's a lot of consesnus in both parties in regards to making the rich richer. In fact both sides fully supported the $10B Jeff Bezos bailout at the end of May. We can't have nice things because we are being pitted against each other. Divide and conquer is the oldest trick in the book.

I actually think Stewart is right in this case, but he hangs the theory on a very weak piece of evidence, that there was a lab studying the area and that cannot be a coincidence. Well, it cannot be a coincidence, and it is not be a coincidence: it is pretty routine to have outposts to study things NEAR WHERE THEY ARE FOUND. I am sure there are several scientific institutions studying cheetahs in the Serengeti, but if a tourist was mauled to death by a cheetah in the Serengeti, Stewart would not say, “It must have been a cheetah that escaped from a lab! It’s too much of a coincidence!”

@@nervoussips2622 Hi! Sorry to jump in but I wanted to clarify my view on it in hopes of showing that there are, in fact, multiple views here. It seems there are quite a few pieces of evidence stacked against the Wuhan lab. I'm perfectly happy with saying the lab might be responsible, but I would argue that no one can say the lab IS actually responsible until there have been some real investigations from people I trust. We are blaming a handful of people for the deaths of millions; we can't do that lightly.

My comment is making fun of John to an extent, by saying he “called it” you poke fun at the fact that he jokingly said it was the truth, because it was in fact not so much of a joking matter, as it is a genuine theory and high probability origin of COVID.
