Its sad that because that great movie was produced by the Hollywood hated company, Cannon films that kept it from winning the Oscar for best picture and other oscars. That movie is one of the greatest ever made and gets overlooked. I still watch it a few times a year

@@lisamarie4452 No, you have it wrong. Jon's Daddy, at the age of 8, was burdened with the responsibility of helping to provide for his family during tough economic times. These men understood that this boy was doing what he could to put food on the table for his family. At 8 years old. They looked deeper than it just being a lie.

I'm Irish, English and a Protestant. My best friend when I was four years old was Joey Leiberman. I admire and love the the Jewish people and their religion. I cannot for the life of me understand the reasoning for anti-semitism. They are intelligent, caring, motivated and empathetic of others. They remember the horrors they have had to endure, but do not complain and only move forward!!!

He has "all the right stuff" to be a great Mayor or Congressman.....perhaps you will encourage him to. I've always loved Burt Reynolds. A lot of '70s movies with Jon Voight have been playing on TMC recently, and people either have forgotten, or have no idea how great of an actor he is/was. Seriously, "Deliverance', 'The All American Boy', 'Conrack', 'Coming Home', and certainly 'Midnight Cowboy' back in the late '60s, just great performances for him throughout. Even though his bit on Seinfeld was great, I wonder if people that knew little about him, took him a little less seriously - being kind of jokingly compared to Liam Neeson. This guy is so underrated and underappreciated historically.

Jon Voit, one of my all-time favorite actors, and I first want to say, I think that was a Beautiful Tribute to Burt Renoalds (God Rest his Soul), I've seen him on another Talk show, yrs ago, and I remember him mentioning how Crazy/Dangerous doing the movie, Delivance was, but as he was talking about it, you could see how much fun he had doing this movie with Butt Renalds was. Also, I'm not surprised J.Voit was once a Liberal, I had a feeling early in his life especially during the 1960,s, but what did surprise me was that he became a Republican. 🙏👍

Mark and Jon, to borrow a line from our friend, you are great Americans. Jon, I can relate to you being a Christian and having such a Jewish influence in your life. I'm a Baptist, but grew up surrounded by Jewish and Catholic friends. Inside the beltway of D.C. in Bethesda Md. Those influences, usually aim a child towards being self sufficient but caring and helpful.

@@KZfaqluvsGroomers Burt shaved his mustache for several roles he did over the years. Just watched a movie from 2006, I believe, where he had shaved it off. But maybe not in his later 70's? He was getting pretty thin as he got older, so his cropped beard & mustache helped to fill out his face a bit.

In his autobiography, John Boorman, director of “Deliverance,” gives affecting insights into Jon Voight and Burt Reynolds at work - Reynolds the playful, insouciant hunk ("I can't act. I was just faking it"), Voight the tormented artist, endlessly analyzing every nuance of his role rather than face the camera and risk failing. To get in character for a physical scene, Voight would charge through the woods working up a breathless sweat. Reynolds, having made sure Voight was watching, would then casually spray water on himself and fake panting.

Jon came to Birmingham a couple of years ago to act as “Bear” Bryant. He asked me “Tom do I have him down ?” To which I replied “Your voice needs to be much lower, mumbling a bit like you have a few rocks in your mouth. “. Of course he laughed. Check the movie “Woodlawn”. Jon was so approachable and became such a friend to all. Thank you Jon and RIP Burt the Bandit. You and Jerry Reed were incredible stars.

The first time I knew of Jon Voight was in the movie Midnight Cowvoy, loved his acting and facial expression in the part he played, not only is he a great character actor, but a very understanding and humble human being that's my type of person.
