Jonah is a sign used by Jesus as a metaphor for his future crucifixion, burial, and resurrection. Proves He was the Messiah, he used this sign to show the unbelievers the miracle of His coming. Johah spent three day and three nights in the whale and then was spit out by the whale onto dry land. The Lord was three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. The sign of Jonah would turn out to be Jesus greatest miracle of all. Jesus' resurrection from the dead. This is a very wonderful and profound book for Christians, it shows our Savior lives and he is our glorious Savior.

This discussion on forgiveness reminds me of Corrie Tenboom forgiving one of the Nazi soldiers she recognized from the camp she and her sister were in... When she extended her hand to him even though she didn't want to- God's love and forgiveness flowed through her and helped her overcome her anger.

Thank you for this lesson and all your lessons. A knowledge of premaritality and the council in Heaven is so helpful to me. We are all on a journey back to Heaven. How sad if someone doesn't make it. Fear of not making it back home was part of what we talked about there before we left. It's a learning experience. Our hearts need to change. We need the experience that we have in life to bring that about. Someday there will be a separation between the righteous and the wicked and they will no longer have the righteous example of people around them, but I'm sure learning will still go on. I have learned to pray & ask to leave my burdens at The Lord's feet and bear a smile and a song away. And to ask The Lord to help me come out from the wicked. It seems we can love our neighbor as ourselves and still choose good friends and come out from the wicked and not have to stay in toxic relationships, thank Heaven. It doesn't seem that we need to be the person to convert the wicked and toxic unless like Jonah,The Lord calls us to that mission. Alma the younger didn't go on a mission to the Lamenits (he did have a difficult mission though). But we are also taught that The Lord can do his own work and it seems that there are times when missionaries and Prophets have said enough. The Lord then steps in. But learning opportunities are always there, it's wonderful when people choose to come home to The Lord. I have learned so much from The Old Testiment, I love it, it's life improving and life changing. Thank you again. I wish my parents could have learned these lessons too. ♥️😊

This is so moving and so essential. Thank you. Baptism is often recognized as the first step onto the covenant Path. May I suggest the idea that birth is the first step onto the covenant path? Through the three-way unity of God (who provides the spirit body), and the role of Man with the Woman (who together provides the physical body), through blood and water, a spirit body is clothed in mortality. This begins the journey to become like God and return home to Him.

I struggled with a relationship with someone and one day while in the temple as they got ready for the final prayer they ask that if anyone in the prayer circle had hard feelings toward some one in the circle that they please sit out. I realized then that I would never want to find myself in that circle with that person and still have hard feelings. I knew I needed to forgive that person.

Thank you for this lesson. I happened to be reading in Alma 26 in my personal study. I couldn't help but compare Jonah's actions with the enemy and the sons of Mosiah with their enemies. It made me ponder where my heart is towards my "enemies" is my heart more like Jonah's or the sons of Mosiah? Also both books' mention Thanksgiving Alma 26:27 and Jonah 2:9. How beautiful that God gives all His children opportunity to turn to the Lord and receive blessings of the Lord.

As always, I have learned new ways to see the Bible and have been uplifted and strengthened. Awesome!!!

I appreciate the discussion of covenants. The introduction of the Book of Mormon states its purpose (before the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ) is that they may know the covenants of the Lord.

"Are you ok with God extending love and mercy to your enemy?" Profound question if you really dig deep.. I needed to hear the last words Hank touched on about the death of a loved one. My soul broke after the death of my Mum this year in May. My breathing hasn't returned to normal since.
