I read somewhere that the designer actually saw the flippy board thing at a convention that had nothing to do with board games. Apparently they were a swag type marketing thing and he was fascinated and figured there had to be a game in there somewhere.

I'm sorry I wasn't as clear as I could have been. It's pretty simple, you can't sell a token (resource, animal, or gem) that you gained from a shipping action on that turn. So you can sell a boar you already had and then take a new one from the supply, but you can't start by taking one from the supply and then sell that exact one back.

JonGetsGames From the rules (page 14, top left): ”A keyple cannot receive a resource and sell the same type of resource on the same turn.” The word ”type” should make it pretty clear that once you’ve sold wood you can’t take any wood with the same keyple. Of course you could do it later in the round with a lay down action.

​@@JonGetsGames Odd I thought I typed this in yesterday, but now I don't see it. It was confirmed by Richard Breese in the BGG forums that this was indeed an error in the play through. You cannot sell the good and gain the good in the same action, even if you already started with it on your board. Yesterday I posted a link to that thread, today, I won't do that in case that is what nuked my post. This occurs around 20:40 The thread is thread/2758754/boat-tile-clarification

@@MurrRockstroh Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I also replied in the BGG thread. I have no idea why your comment from yesterday didn't show up. I moderate all comments that are posted, but I never even saw it pop up for approval. Very strange, but I'm happy you reposted. I feel pretty silly about this mistake in retrospect, it does seem quite clear from the rules and I somehow misunderstood it. I'm adding corrections to the Klingon subtitles to try and clear this up for people.
