How to Beat Solo Anxiety in Tarkov - Escape From Tarkov Guide

In Escape From Tarkov, it can be difficult to gain the confidence to run raids playing solo. When most new players begin playing, they realize how difficult solo play can be to adjust to, so they opt for playing in a squad instead. But eventually, when faced with playing solo, it seems impossible, since they're so used to playing in a squad. So today, I'm hoping to help you break past that mentality, and make solo play seem a bit more accessible.

A lot of confidence comes from learning a map. Questing is so messed up that it makes you do different maps, yes you can skip those quests but then you will hinder your progress. For a new player it's a huge challenge to learn a single map. People who have 1000s of hours and know every single creek of the map will always be on top as they can listen to the surroundings and will know exactly where you are.

This is true, and is all part of the process. There will always be players that know more and less than you. Just part of the game, and what helps it feel so random and up to chance

@UCrMa3nhZkKasggICTDKXNNA there should be a linear introductions to the maps. First quests make you go customs and woods and these are totally 2 different maps one is industrial and closed the other is open world with greenery. First time I went woods I was like tf how do you navigate through this🤣

This is why I never went into groups tbh. As a beginner, I just bit the bullet and never went to groups. To this day I play 95% of my time solo. This probably resulted in me having a tougher period earlier but having only yourself to rely on makes learning MUCH easier since the equation is much simpler. If you're in a team a lot of things out of your control can go wrong making the experience much harder to learn from, even if you die less.

Also you are permanently playing if you queue solo. If you always have to wait till your mates extract you have a lot of waiting time early on. When I started I always died when playing with my friends which made me loose more than I gained. After a while I started playing solo and always got 200k-300k loot by playing very careful and slow. It's not much but taking my time helped me a lot to accommodate myself with the unique playstyle of tarkov. When I hit 2M rubles I started to buy my guns instead of looting them from scavs and after some fiddling around with gun modding I found a good budget kit in the AKS 74/ AK74 with PP/BP/BT (you find tons of it on woods). I never had to buy ammo and could even craft the gun on the workbench for cheap. When I wiped whole squads I became more confident in using more expensive equipment like the SR 25, M1A, fully kitted M4s etc. and now I am a seasoned veteran who regularly wipes half a lobby and earns the big bucks. I couldn't overcome one fear though: I have never played a single round of Labs 😂

One of the biggest tips and things I’ve learnt from playing EFT is to not just always camp. I’ve become a much more aggressive player because I spent so much time before always just sitting in a place, listening out for players, and waiting for them to come to me. And doing that all the time and still dying is so annoying. I’d rather push and take the chance than just sit in one place for 10 minutes only to get one-tapped anyway. Definitely still play it safe and use tactics appropriately, but sometimes being the first to push can be beneficial, and it’s also more fun.

something big I learned solo playing is that rushing once you deploy is a big no-no, once you spawn you wanna move carefully and use all the scrub, bushes or rooms to your advantage for hiding which gives you a good chance to listen carefully and assess the situation on the map
@dovaiS
@dovaiS Жыл бұрын
this gameplay loop is OKAY, but you should be rushing spots and spawns. This comes with memorizing pmc spawns on each map, its easier to get to a loot spot and defend than it is to push one thats contested. Once you're past the first few parts of the raid and when theres chances to encounter pmcs you start moving more slowly.

I understand the logic of : better stuff = better chance to win, but thats mainly why players are scared, and most of the time it's better to build a "cheap but efficient build" the first months to get rid of that. Because most of the time, beginners will die because of lack of knowledge (map, mouvement etc) and not really because they tanked 2 more bullets. Your video show that perfectly.

@blarghinatelazer9394
@blarghinatelazer9394 Жыл бұрын
@Coalfire I don't think the games have changed all that much, they were always filled with tryhards and sweats. The difference is probably that you're older now and more jaded, and now that you really value your free time you spend with games you find that you really don't want to dedicate all that energy to playing anymore, which is perfectly understandable. The best way to enjoy a game for relaxation, imo, is to just play customs with friends.

As someone with 5500 hours in this game, I can confidently say that this is one of the best and most comprehensive ways of explaining the mentality to survive Tarkov. I don't play solo anymore just because I can get bored without anyone to talk to, but I just might run a few extra raids by myself and see how it goes. Im also going to send this to a few of my friends that think Im a carry. Especially because Im constantly telling them they have to make their own decisions like which gun to run in which map, which ammo, which meds etc. I never give them a yes or no answer, I only tell them the possible pros, cons, and scenarios any given item or mindset will come with each raid, and let them make their own conclusions. Give em the info, and let them work it out. This video does that expertly, and Im definitely subbing.

That intro hit hard. I started solo and did decent enough, getting to mid level 30 my first wipe but after that brought in a friend and we both found a few randoms whom turned into our steady group. A few wipes of that and I stopped playing solo, I wouldn't play without at least one other person online. If I did play solo I was a nervous wreck and died a lot. Skipped the last entire wipe and now I am back playing but solo for now, due to short play times and weird hours, so have to get back into it. Strong Solo Anxiety so far but working on it. My goal is to get far enough so I can run a dedicated kit for most raids so I get use to things and not worry about losing gear again.

I've been playing solo for most of my hours in Tarkov. At first, I was dying a lot, and it was harder to learn things, but the good part is that you learn to rely on yourself, not others. Two days ago, a friend bought the game, so I'm walking them through it and try to play safer, so they don't die a lot. This actually helps me as well, as I tended to either be super aggressive or super slow and cautious, which got me killed quite a lot. Now when playing with my friend, I try to get a blend of both, going cautiously and looking around for any danger, so he can kill scavs and get the hang of things, while on the other hand, getting aggressive when we encounter PMCs to protect him and to get more comfortable with pushing teams myself. I was getting raids with max 1 kill before, while now, I get 3-4 PMC kills per raid, which is a good improvement for me.

When I played the game from around 2020-2021, I experienced all these things, the thing that helped me heaps was playing solo while in a discord raid with friends preferably those who can server deafen you when you need it. It helped my morale since when dying in a game like tarkov, being alone and the spiral it can create gets to you really fast. Also if you die 3 times in a row, take a break its not going to get better. Just for reference, my playtime is 2500+ but I stopped playing, so I'm not entirely sure how tarkov operates now. One last thing, never be afraid to make a move, never, doubt yourself and thats all your enemy needs to make a play that moments earlier you could have prevented had you followed through.

I think I have a squad fear. Playing solo feels much more comfortable to me. Having teammates around makes me feel constricted in may tactics. Since I'm almost always on point, I need to "feel" them with my back, keep their firing angle in mind, predict their movements almost as often as the enemy's, keep the group together, calling nades, giving orders... this distracts 50 to 80% of my attention depending on squad size. And don't you hate it when a mate lags behind for some important reason and tries to catch up sprinting to your exact location through the bushes?

I have tried committing to Tarkov a few times now, and I always end up discouraged. One of my biggest issues is that I don't want to pay so much extra money just to get a gamma container. However this video and the recent patches have piqued my interest in the game once more, so I will give it another go. Fundamentally, I love what Tarkov is. I just get discouraged when I put in so much time and feel like I've still learned nothing from my experience. The learning curve is massive.
@JonnyBooSock
@JonnyBooSock Жыл бұрын
Paying extra for the higher tiers of the game means nothing. A standard account is just as capable as an EOD account, don't let it fool you. You can just hold onto more junk with EOD. Take your time with learning. You're going to die nearly every raid as a beginner. But you need to make sure you take something to learn from every death. If you enjoy the learning process, you'll enjoy the game, and in turn get better over time and survive more

As a new solo player, not having a single clue of where to go is my biggest enemy. That combined with the "loosing money" part makes me 2nd guess every move and freeze a lot of times because even if i had a full bag it's a matter of pure luck if i find an extract or not. And as i don't even know any of the maps extracts leave alone more or less frequent loot spots, i don't have a reliable, easy get money back route. I'll probably take your advice running offline raids for the next few weeks.

This is something I've had to explain to discord lfgs a lot since buying the game recently, but not everyone is searching for groups because of 'solo anxiety' or because they just want to be carried. Some people like myself just don't see the point in playing this game solo too often. Maybe if there were no AI scavs at all I would enjoy it more, but if i wanted the solo experience i feel like i could just get it from a different game. I personally look for groups because that group aspect of the game is whats most appealing to me. Hectic group clips are why i finally bought into the game. So when a player posts in discord that theyre new and looking for a group, the first response from the sweats thats been playing since day 1 shouldnt be " oh just go in solo, its the only way youll learn"

From my experience, most of the people that started in groups end up in a rut. Like he said in the video they can't think for themselves and rely on you too much. There is ways to remedy this without them playing solo, but some people legitimately need to go the solo route. I got a buddy that still to this day has no clue what he is doing and I have tried to pit him against scavs on his own and most of the time he fails. He fails to follow me even when I am barely moving and then I get distracted trying to get him back on track. Some people just need the harsh route to get a hang of things and I think this video helps those particular individuals.

I only ever raid solo and I love it. At endgame my main goal is to take on the biggest juiciest squads i can find and pick them apart. Live or die I don’t care there is nothing more rewarding than taking down a squad on your own

I played my first 2 wipes with completely alone and learned everything I know alone with only googling some things I didn't know. I find it WAY easier to play alone and survive more by myself.

Another tip I have is don't rush though raids. If you find a really valuable item such as a ledx which just so happens to be a quest item, don't rush to extract and take your time. Act quick, don't be quick.

This is a great video, and as a player with 7000 hours, I still suffer from solo anxiety, but not because of rubles- i just do not enjoy playing solo because its boring (and the teammates not watching my back is also a problem). The only map I am comfortable with soloing with is factory and every map if it is a scav run. A tip for new players struggling with solo anxiety, remember that the game wipes and its best to spend it all before Nikita takes it away. Spoken from a person who totally did not have >200mil stash value taken away during wipe.

i started playing this game with my brother 2 years ago, and while we were both really good (not pro level) in fps games, tarkov made very sure to curb our confidence down several magnitudes, all our experience and skills we thought we knew went out the window the moment we walk into situations where we get blindsided by enemies constantly even at point blank range and get decimated, after about 2 months of agony we both quit the game. 6 months later i tried to solo the game with very cheap tactics in an effort to minimize losses (mainly doing runs with only a pistol or hatchet, or spamming factory with a scav hoping to at least get out with what i spawned with) and after 3 months of that i quit again. my brother similarly returned with 3 of his friends to try and play the game as a team, and they all got decimated every single time, despite all consistently being in diamond league or apex predator in apex legends. i'm even debating whether i should try to get my bf to play tarkov with me but it might just destroy our relationship.. i think the main reason i keep trying is because i invested a LOT of money in my pc to reach the standards needed for games like EFT and starcitizen, plus really expensive headphones & dac just to gain some kind of edge against other players. but ultimately it was pointless because i realized that the main problem was EFT's abysmal ping across 99% of its servers, since i'm in the southeast i'm stuck with either playing in chinese servers (which everyone knows is a nest of cheaters), or australian servers (just barely playable at 189 - 230 ping), so i'm now debating whether or not its even worth it to invest on starlink just to play this gods forsaken game. i know my internet isn't the problem since i'm paying a premium for highspeed optic fiber internet service, its EFT's dogshite servers that make life impossible.

Genuinely the biggest thing that got rid of my solo anxiety was a combination of learning budgeting and memorizing maps. I could play reserve with my eyes closed and kill a squad with an AKM cheaper than a ulach.

My personal tactic to overcome anxiety and gear fear: - Go to a map you know well - Do not expect to survive, but fight for your life. Out of ammo and wounded? Charge with a knife. - If you lose you gear, do a scav run to cool down and think about what mistake you made. - If you have a gamma pouch, use it. Don't store stuff you already have and are afraid to lose (except maybe key storage), use it to extract rare stuff that you can sell.

You see, for me who runs SPT, I get anxiety from EVERYTHING. Being a jumpy person as is I don't handle when I start HEARING gunshots after a long time has passed without them. I'm fine with handling combat and in the moment I love it. Because I don't really care much about my loss of equipment nearly as much as I would on live. But it's just the sudden jumps that get me hard.

I totally overcome solo fear as i was playing Tarkov a few months ago... I wasnt scared to engage fully geared chads in pvp and win over them. I had zero gear fear as i am the most powerfull being in Tarkov: The PACA warrior.. I was using non-modified or just lvl1 trader mods for weapons, PS ammunition - Lately PP for 5.45 AK´s , if you meet chad just aim for the eyes.. :) Also was a big fun playing in this way because you knew that every single nade and bullet chad shoots at you is probably 10x more valuable then loot you have... Laying down traps on frequented spots, taking down chads one by one by single eye shot.. And if you think i am just a bush camper then you are really mistaken xD

Heres a tip if you always stay on edge or if you experience anxiety while playing. Literally turn ur volume down to nothing until you get used to the game and its loop. Youll have a much easier time exploring with ur eyes than stressing over every imprecise and sudden loud sound

My biggest issue with solo play and tarkov as a whole is the fact of how much gear can affect a pvp encounter my first wipe I died so much i had to go into raid with just a knife no armor no helmet I had nothing and the reason I died so much was due to people camping quest spawns mainly the machinery key spawn in dorms I started pretty late in the wipe so I was running an sks with ps and I just couldn't kill any PMCS camping the spawns because of their armor while their m4s tore me to shreds

I learned this game solo and I’m glad I did because I’m a lot better at making split second decisions in fights and taking engagements with other players. 4 wipes played so far and I’m really enjoying it now that I have a couple good friends from school. I’ll give my money run to the people who look at this comment and read it alll Hit up night time reserve and loot black pawn and dome and use the red rebel extract. takes 20 minutes and I rarely ever get into fights and even if I do I normally win then because most people I run into are low geared players without night vision. I’ve made over 1.8 million in a single run before and this wipe it’s been a big reason why I have 31 million roubles. Dont be afraid to run solo because you might die or get 1 tapped by a godly scav. This game is made to be extremely difficult. Even the top players die and lose a run that’s going really well.

what i learn from playing tarkov is just to not let gear fear get to you because in the end everything is gonna be wiped and everyone is gonna be back to square 0
