Thanks Johnny! Excellent video! I have a lowrance elite 5x that powers up and appears to be functioning normally until you take it out on the water. It will not read bottom, a lure, an anchor.... NOTHING! I have tried 3 different transducers, factory reset several times and nothing. I noticed that the transducer pings are not very strong (usually when you wrap your hand under the transducer the pings are very obvious). Any thoughts?

Well Johnny, have the exact same issue, my transformer appears to be in better shape. BTW I called Lowrance and they wash their hands of anything older than 5 years old. Shameful as this unit was very expensive, and to not do anything at all for your customers is enough to change the directions of my dollars. My unit would stay on then after long periods would start flickering and screeching ( audio) on and of, on and off. I was able to get the mosfet from Amazon, but have found out that the transformer was manufactored for Lorwrance for this unit and is not a part I can get from GCi who really only sells to electronics manufactures and not to even part suppliers. The lady I got ahold of Dana was very helpful, but because the part is proprietary to Lowrance she could not give me the data sheet, but has committed to trying to find me something to solve the issue aka one just laying around. Will provide further comments when the results of that effort comes in. Clearly this is an original design issue by Lowrance and they are washing their hands of it at the expense of their loyal customers. I have purchased my last Lowrance after owning 9 of their products, roughly $6000 worth of business over the last 15 years.

Please how to open lowrance x28

Hello Jonny - got ahold of a Lowrance Globalmap 5200c (no signs of cosmetic or water damage). When I connected it to 12VDC it powered up for about 10-15 seconds and then all the sudden went completely dead (no display, sounds or anything). I've confirmed I'm getting 12-15 volts. One thing I neglected to do in the beginning however was to connect a fusible link when I turned it on. Is there anything you could suggest I try at this point? Thanks so much.

A unit I have (very same model) powers on, but powers back off several seconds later. It's in excellent condition and very clean with no signs of water damage. Could you recommend anything to check out inside the unit?

G'day mate I have a Lowrance Elite does 5X HDi which is not powering up at all all cables have power eccetera and I have tried my GPS Lawrence and other sound on the same cables and they all power up I have taken the circuit board out and trying to troubleshoot ID like to send you email photos if that's ok please

Jonny, are you on facebook? My father has seen this video and has questions to ask if you work on these since you fixed that lowrance graph in the video. If so, how would he get in touch with you?

If you like working on them you could make a good living fixing them. My personal opinion is they are a piece of junk. And if you have to rely on lowrance get ready for being abused by there customer service department. They give you only 2 options send it back at a cost of 636.00 to get a reman unit or buy a new one.
