I have a jonsred 535 passed down from my granddad... hands down one of the BEST saws I ever had... usually starts within the first 2 pulls, gives it hell when I squeeze that trigger. Lots of power. Cheers.

I got one of these saws from a customer for free. It runs pretty good for an old 49cc

Them old jonsreds go forever my grandfather got one used from a guy used it years he burned wood for heat. So he stopped burning wood gave it to my father to use he used it for several years also used it yearly cutting wood to burn it finally started to become not very reliable so he gave it to his brother and he used the damn thing for several more years no shame for that chainsaw at all jonsreds last a long time an very reliable 👍🏻👍🏻

Also known as: The video that single handedly took down Johnsered. FACT: I've run Jons for 20 years and NEVER had any of these, "problems". Cool video tho. Needed that carb adjust tech.

Sometimes if you blow a ring it will still run, but when it gets hot it'll quit or lock up, then once cool again it starts and runs good again. It happened to me, took me the longest time to figure it out.

Swamp Donkey, it's been a year , but if you see this please let me know if you had any other symptoms. My poulan runs and cuts great , but after 5 -10 minutes it bugs down and sounds like it is starving for fuel, and then quits. It won't start again until cool

Brad Rolling sounds exactly like I said, probably a ring, in which case, being a Poulan you’re probably better off junking it and getting a new one 🤷🏼‍♂️

Just a curiosity question. At 5:48 in the video there is a side view of the chain. It looks like there is A LOT of slack dip in the chain. Shouldn't it be quite a bit tighter?

The chain must have road up on the bar the cut just before 5:48 the next cut it’s back and no slack thanks for watching man

@@cheaphomesteading ahh that makes sense now. I'm no pro with saws or anything, but iv'e always been taught to make sure there isn't slack....so good to know. Thank you for making the video by the way. It was very helpful for sure. I have an old Jonsered 520sp that hasn't been used in many years, and wouldn't start. I tore everything down, and working like a champ now. I couldn't figure out how to fully pull the carb but got enough apart to clean. The connections to it seemed so different than most carbs so wasn't sure.

@@cheaphomesteading No Sir, your chain was too slack, and very dull. That saw was struggling the whole time. One of those cheap little tachs off Amazon make tuning a whole lot easier, precise, and save the motor, eh. Peace

Please help me! ☹😟 my Poulan 1800 runs great, but after cutting for 5-10 minutes it bogs down and quits. Let it cool off and it goes through the same thing. I've already adjusted the carb per video. Please reply, all opinions are welcome.

You can try to open the high jet a little bit more. Because it sounds like it’s heating up.
@cheaphomesteading
@cheaphomesteading 4 жыл бұрын
It is possible it’s a fuel filter issue and it slowly runs out of fuel. But I bet if you open up the high jet a little bit more. turn the screw left just a little bit and then try it
@bradrolling8637
@bradrolling8637 4 жыл бұрын
@@cheaphomesteading Thanks! I'll try that next. I just replaced the fuel line and filter. I failed to mention this is the 1st time in 9 years it's been started. I broke down and cleaned the carb thoroughly. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find a carb rebuild kit in Montgomery, Alabama! Everything around town is Husqvarna or Stihl. Thanks again and I'll keep trying until it runs true. It was my late dad's saw.

If you open up the low jet a bit more see if that helps when you hit the throttle. You might have to raise the idle a bit but don’t raise it higher than the chain will stop turning when you let off.

The high side has nothing to do with starting
@cheaphomesteading
@cheaphomesteading 3 жыл бұрын
The high side screw does adjust the high side but if you set it to the rich side on the high side screw. It will be hard to start. If you have the high side set correctly or to the lean side it will start easier. The low side screw is meant to adjust idle and the moment you rev it up. Thanks for watching
