He's an icon in Mexico. He has so many hits. Some that I recommend are Amar y Querer, Almohada, and Vamos a Darnos Tiempo. You should also look up the lyrics translated to English so that you can have a better understanding of the song.

He was 19 in that festival in which he got 3rd place,and the song writer gave him the song to perform it, he was the second choice, the first choice was a woman. The author says he made the right choice. He performed this song and sang it there for the first time ever. And after that event they recorded it. The lyrics make so much sense as of how he sings it, it's not just about the techniques he used but they all align perfectly with what he us saying. The song makes you believe it's about a break up with someone you really loved but the reality is that the author wrote it in honor of his mother that has just recently passed away, so you could feel it in any of those two sad events you may have experienced in your life. His parents were into music, classic piano and opera, and orchestra director. He lost his voice for unknown reasons and passed away in 2019. RIP

@javiernunez8212 жыл бұрын
He was actually 22 and there’s 3 Choices, they were pick from a hat and Jose’s name won , even so ; Roberto Cantoral ( the song writer ) thought Jose was still too young to interpret a song of this magnitude since he thought Jose didn’t know what the feeling of a great loss was .. unfortunately for Jose he knew about pain ( he lost his father a young age and all he wanted was to be like his father ) the rest is history. This song wasn’t written for the loss of a woman or a mother , Cantoral while in Europe on vacation, received the unfortunate news the his ONLY BROTHER age 33 have passed away and Roberto Cantoral writes this song while his brother is been hurried at the cemetery … I knew Jose for about 45 years so I am still missing him and hope he is singing with that beautiful voice to the Almighty…

I put them in context, after seeing that they reacted to the video. That performance was wonderful and unique, he never did one like that again. And it happened because before his performance (and without anyone else knowing), he finds a magazine and reads it while his time comes to go on stage; in it (magazine) they talked about that contest of singers and "the name of the winner was already printed" (which was not him, it was a woman); That motivated him to give his best interpretation and show that the decision to choose another person before the end of the contest had been a big mistake by the judges and the interests of the record companies. He never mentioned it, and it was known after many years. Now they know that even if they find another video of the same song, it will never be with the same intensity of voice and feeling. And regarding what you mention that there is a soundtrack for each state of mind, I share a phrase that exists in Mexico: "Music is a state of mind." What you hear depends on him. Saludos.

José José was 19 in that performance, he is considered the all time best Mexican singer. He completely lost his voice many years before his passing to the point where he couldn’t even speak. Because he became so so famous at a very young age and also because of the alcoholism in his family he lost him self in alcoholism and drug addiction, so when he got sick instead of taking care of himself he went even deeper. He’ll always be the beloved boy that lost everything but above all his voice is eternal. I really hope you can get your hands on latter performances of him they are great. By the way you’re right the most outstanding quality as a singer was his breathing technique that made everybody ask “when does he breath? Thanks for bringing this reaction.

I wouldn't really think of this as a song to remember you about your ex as much as the song to listen to when you think about your mother's passing. The lyrics are heartbreaking so here they are: How sad it was to say goodbye, When we adored each other so much, Even the swallow migrated Foreshadowing the end. How sad everything is without you, The beach has no sea, The colors turn gray, Everything is loneliness now. I don't know If I'll see you once again, I don't know what will become of my life without the light of your being, that doesn't shed light on me anymore. Today I want to savor my pain, I don't ask for compassion nor pity This love story was written to be eternal "What a sad one", everyone says of me, That I'm always speaking of you But they don't know that by thinking of your love, of your love, I am able to help myself go on, to help myself live. Today I want to savor my pain, I don't ask for compassion nor pity This love story was written to be eternal "What a sad one", everyone says of me, That I'm always speaking of you But they don't know that by thinking of your love, of your love, I am able to help myself go on, to help myself live.
