I'll always have a special spot for Jose, I don't care what's happened since those days. It's my childhood, and it's all I have.

They cant take away the memories he created, he juiced, got a lot of the mlb into juicing, but without it baseball was dying. 1998 saved baseball, after the strike and popularity was dwindling for the game. Jose is a baseball god, because without him the game would be playing 4th fiddle behind every other major sport in America if the late 90s wasnt a home run fest. I love Canseco and still wish my Devil Rays (yes cant forget the Devil, it eas those D Rays days) got more than half a season outta him, but he still hit 34 home runs by the all star break. He was lighting it up that year, i think he was on a mission since it was 99, to show the world he could put up 60, or maybe 70. He was playin with a chip on his shoulder that year and the back injury is all that kept him from putting on more of a show for the D Rays, plus thats the zame year Boggs hit his HR for his 3000th hit (first to do it). Could've been one hell of a year from the 2nd year team at the time.

Agreed. When I was 8yrs old baseball was life and Conseco was God! The steroids was definitely a stain on that era but damn it was so fun and entertaining

I was an A's addict from 88 to about 2010 give or take a few less years, I watch this a 30 year old baseball game and I'm enjoying it like I used to enjoy baseball, it's so much fun compared to today's A's we never have anyone around long enough to get to know the team, although regardless of my current feeling about the A's it would be a Crime for the A's to not get a new stadium and leave Oakland. This is absolute gold thank you for posting all these Jose vids he was one of the most exciting player ever to watch at bat !

I was a 12 year old little leaguer in these stands watching my baseball heroes. Their posters and newspaper clippings were festooned on my bedroom wall. I went to game 2 of the 1990 ALCS against the Red Sox. It was a dream come true! I still believe that the power and athleticism of this A’s team is still unmatched. Hard to believe they just won the 89 series and not the 88 or 90. Thank you for this!

It's hilarious to look back and hear the announcers just gush over Canseco and his power, totally oblivious to the fact that he was gacked on 'roids. Thom Boswell was right! Jose Canseco went on ESPN and lied his ass off!

canseco had 34 home runs after about 90 games in 1990...But he only finished with 3 more for tally of 37 for season; did he get hurt in the second half of the season?

Canseco had 34 HR on Aug 3, 1990, He coulda had 50 HR if not for his injury.

I believe so. Injuries hampered him for the bulk of his career starting in 1989. Guy would have easily hit over 600 home runs.

I feel sorry for Jose. I don't blame him for writing the book. His former teammates are weasels for staying silent while he got crucified. He never recovered from the damage they did to him and they got away with the same thing. Jerks.

He was the epididamy of speed. , superhuman bat speed and Devastating power w late 80s A..s .I remember those days very well. Good old 80s. I think I remember. Some of it. Lol. The baseball I do I always liked Oakland. Even the 72 A.s dynasty. Bando .Catfish Hunter Fingers. Joe Rudy. Simpler times. It's a shame the roids stained his caree and prompted exile from MLB. especially when . I think... he very comparably could have been , and stayed that strong naturally.without steroids. Creatine. And other more natural and legal forms of protien and muscle building supplements.were avail. And creatine has been judged completely safe and legal. along w high protein foods and diet an maybe some dhea and a little lifting weight s. . Im not 6'4 but 5'10 and I manage to be a rather impressive and rock solid 225 lb for years naturally. I always wanted to try roids. I'm fortunate I didnt know where to get them. Otherwise I probably would have. All natural could have been comprable and think quite sufficient. But is More diligence and work.i wish I'd been more conscious of my strength and size during my ball playing days. It wasn't to be.
