I'm reading Joseph Brodsky's poem "A night of arguing with yourself" to the music Patrick Patrikios - Voices.
This poem reflects the author's philosophical reflections on the essence of the human personality and its place in the world. The key image here is the "arguing couple", which symbolizes the internal struggle and doubts that overcome a person throughout his life.
The author compares a person's face with a ring - a symbol of infinity and eternity. This emphasizes the idea that every person is part of the endless cycle of life and their existence has meaning and impact on other people.
The poem also draws attention to the theme of duality of personality, with a person acting as both "Lot’s wife" and "Lot himself". This means that each of us has both good and evil sides, and our task is to learn to manage these sides and strive for good.
In general, the poem touches on philosophical issues of existence, consciousness, morality and ethics. It encourages the reader to think about his life, his actions and their consequences, and also to strive for harmony and balance between his internal contradictions.
