I have been a Buddhist by birth, but I haven’t been taught Buddhist philosophy in depth like what I have learned from Joseph Goldstein. Mr. Goldstein, you are my guru. I have listened to many of your podcasts and videos. Love it! Thank you very much, Mr. Goldstein. I think we have met in Providence at the Buddhist Temple on Hanover Street when Maha Ghosanand once resided. ❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏

Love Plato book the republic,30 dialogues The Law. Plato changed my life points of view.The idea, the logos,the form. It took years to understand plato(1967-2003)when an intelligent man told me,do you know why you do not understand Plato? Said no. It is because philosophy language is different from medical language you know. Asked what to do to understand? He replied shall download 12 lectures to understand the republic. He did , then each word make sense and could tune with his brain thoughts at same wave length.

While listening to the stream, there is one wold I am not sure, would anyone know what is it. In the material world, we will experience color, taste, ??? and nutrition. Thank you in advance!

I have been listening to Joseph for more than a decade and never sought nor found anything to disagree with, until his comment that gender is just a concept, like the borders of a country, and if you close your eyes that you won't be able to tell your own gender. You can't swap a mother and father. You can't change who has what gametes. This is basic science. This is the first statement of his that I've heard and question whether it is a belief taken from an external political religion.

These talks are amazing, but I have moved away from accepting the argument that we have a 'static concept of self' that must be represented but a permanent, physical object. Processes works just fine in western psychology. Not everything is an illusion. Some things that are impermanent still represent measurable phenomena.
