Lately I got upset with a co-worker and how she treats everyone like garbage, doesn't do her job and acts hypocritical. She's been like this for half a year. I finally snapped, cursing and yelling because I was done dealing with it all. The point: You helped me realize that although I did yell, curse, made myself a fool, I stood up for myself in the end. Thank you for your wisdom, and thank you for spreading said wisdom through a noble character

Had something similar myself today. I'm younger than the other guy. And in construction, younger guys get crapped on a lot and the Good Ol' Boys tend to have each other's backs. This particular morning didn't go the way I planned it to. Seven thirty A.M I am getting all manner of shouting, roaring and swearing my way for minor bullshit and I just decide I'm not doing this today. I give every ounce back at him. I don't like losing my cool. And I tend to feel bad because I don't like confrontation. But you're right. I immediately felt better because I told myself, "No. I am a human being, I don't deserve to be treated like this. I am drawing a line here and it will not be crossed." We all need to show the world we are not a doormat.

@@randomcenturion7264 This is a classic "coming-of-age" moment for young men. Just watch, you'll instantly get so much less bullshit from now on, since he knows you have a boundary / limit now. Being completely non-confrontational doesn't make you good, just weak.

Never put up with others bullshit. When you know they are doing wrong. And they have the gaul ,and disrespect to point the finger and lay , shift the blame on you. Those people do not have the right. They are liberty takers and lesser kinds of people. And they will not stop their selfish and bad behaviour around you until you put them in their place. People like them need to be shown their place. Good for you for doing that. You weren't being a fool for doing that. You were finally being assertive enough to give them a well needed reality check. I'm sure your colleagues knew exactly what was going on and why you reacted that way. Modern cultures put on us in modern society, always being expected to be polite and in control 24-7 ,is just unrealistic bullshit. It's just not a true reflection of being an authentic human. Even the best of us lose our shit once in a while yeah.

Well, this popped up at the perfect time for me, as I'm struggling to respect myself... Sorry to vent, but this whole thing, ESPECIALLY 1:05 , 5:42 - 5:55 and 7:50 spoke to me. I liked a girl, we'd spend a lot of time together talking about personal stuff, supporting each other as best we could, bonding over a shared hobby. It started out platonic, but my feelings began to change and I was thinking of how to approach the situation. So, she spends time alone in a place with a "friend" and frames it as such... I trusted her to tell the truth. Turns out it was her boyfriend, that she had never mentioned to me and I only figured this out because she had a slip up while venting to me. I wasn't mad about her having a boyfriend, I was more mad that she was comfortable lying to me for such a period of time... She said she NEVER lied about it. When I asked, "Does your boyfriend know you're going around telling people he's just a friend?" She said I was taking her words out of context... So I copy and pasted her words exactly where she said she was meeting up with a "friend", and she asked why I even still had those (apparently she expects me to delete all traces of our conversations). She then said it was "none of my business", and she swears that she still never told a lie, she was just being vague (pretty big difference between, "I'm meeting up with a friend" vs "I'm meeting up with a boyfriend.") I got angry, I fully admit that and told her, somewhere along the way, she'd gotten used to disrespecting and lying to me... Which she claims I was just putting words into her mouth. The boyfriend stuff was mostly secondary, it was mainly the sheer level of disrespect and refusal to accept that she was lying to me that angered me. She said the positive parts of her life were none of my business, but she felt comfortable venting about the negatives... What? lol Based on context of her hiding his existence from me, lying to me about it, refusing to admit it was a lie and apparently scrubbing traces of my existence from her devices (since I doubt most men would be ok with their girlfriends spending hours alone with another guy, talking about their emotions, I doubt he knows I exist either)... I strongly believe she was using me to have an emotional affair (no one in their right mind would willingly agree to be The Other Man/Other Woman), and to make matters worse, she asked me to help lift her spirits for the meeting... So all that trust I had in her was used to help her get her back blown out by another man. I'm fairly certain she knew how I felt, as she went to quite a few extremes to hide his existence from me (and probably mine from him if she regularly scrubs our chats) and wanted to keep us both for her convenience. She told me she had boyfriends before (and told me about them, which I was fine with), but she only NOW decided to start hiding it? Yeah... I'm not an idiot lol. ... While the knowledge my trusting nature was abused and made me resentful of people, this video helped me remind myself that I deserve better than being disrespected in such a way (not being anyone's emotional side piece, being lied to, gaslighted, etc.). If she'd just been honest with me from the start, I probably wouldn't have cared that much... Now she apparently wants to talk to me but is apparently annoyed as to why I no longer want to speak to her about her "personal life" since... Well, according to her that's none of my business so I just stopped lol. I lost pretty much all interest in her as a friend, let alone a woman, as... Without trust and respect, I just don't see a point in being around people and she will lie to me and not see it as a big deal. I strongly suspect a lot of what she told me about herself was a lie now. She claimed she respected me but... Actions speak louder than words. I may not have much, but I have my self-respect and the peace of mind being away from her negativity.

@@HandsomeGamerGuy Thank you! I'm glad people enjoyed reading that. In hindsight, there was clearly something very wrong with her... She always had mountains of bad news that she would complain to me about (a "woe is me" attitude) but somehow conveniently never had anything good (even small things) happen to her. I gave her multiple chances to be honest with me and I learned she was a compulsive liar who couldn't keep her story straight. She gave me 2 or 3 directly contradicting explanations for why she did what she did, including trying to weaponize something I told her to say, "I did this for you!" which might have made sense... Except she also claimed she hid it from most (or all, it's been a while) other people too and I'm extremely doubtful the vast majority of her other friends had the same experiences I did that she used to try to "protect" me lol. She was clearly making up any excuses she could think of. That's when it sunk in that I had to give up on her, as she didn't respect me or her boyfriend enough to tell us the truth. That said, I'm kind of thankful it happened. I learned a lot from the experience and now have a better idea on how to spot toxic people in my life, which helped me avoid repeating the same mistakes a few months later. So I gained some wisdom from the whole experience and will know what to look for in the future for when people try to test how much they can disrespect me.

@@ponderer1315 Yeah i knew a Girl similiar to that. Always the one that needed People to be around her and Reassure her that whatever Choice she made was good, how smart she was yada yada yada. Well turns out that a lot of Stuff she does is just straight up weird and very attention seeking. Which is even more disturbing, but calling her out for that really did open my Eyes to some other Shit.
@ponderer1315
@ponderer1315 7 ай бұрын
@@HandsomeGamerGuy Yeah... In hindsight, the one I knew did a lot of that too. She'd randomly start talking to me about doing dangerous things in emotional states... In hindsight, I'm pretty sure she was trying to get some kind of reaction out of me. Such as threatening to hurt herself/claiming she already did, threatening to put herself into dangerous situations, that other people were dangerous to her, blah blah blah... I now realize it was likely some kind of sick game for her to see me be concerned about her, which would explain why the bad stuff was apparently the only parts of her life she felt comfortable talking about. Good on you for calling her out and seeing through her BS! You don't need that level of toxicity in your life lol. I hope you can spot the signs the next time someone like that comes around, you'll have more experience and know not to waste your time on people like that lol. From what you described, it sounds like her house of cards fell down... I hope you find someone worth your time in the future and try not to end up jaded over sick women that seem to need attention from everyone. Good luck!

Shame is only an effective tactic with which other people can manipulate you if you agree with their evaluation of you. If you let other people decide your value or lack of value, instead of simply believing that you have it, you are all but guaranteed to be miserable. No other person will ever be as invested in your happiness, fulfillment or contentment as you. Expecting otherwise is foolishness.
