@@jaycool9480 well, tech pays more NOW because there's shortage of manpower. however, if everyone switches to tech, then there will be a lot of supply, and as a result, salaries will drop. the problem is that employers don'T value certain jobs because of their short-term profit expectations. this bubble will explode at some point. there are many important jobs that can'T sustain you but are necessary to have, and/or have a long term effect. ie a teacher is underpayed yet good education has an impact on the economy on the long term. imho the system is fundamentally wrong and should be rethought. i expected a paradigm shift because of covid but employers are trying hard to go back to pre-covid status quo (like when mp3 appeared and CD publishers shat their pants)

He is not only correct, he is actually making people (or at least one person - me) take healthy view on how job system works. You are an asset and they will squeeze you like an orange if you let them. On the other hand your job is to squeeze as much as you can from them - knowledge, know how, systems, workflows, cash - everything. The thing is that when you take this approach you are actually respected more, become better at your job alot faster and ultimately become an asset that is very valuable. That means no matter what - you will be fine - if not at this job, then on another, or you will finally be ready to start your own thing. After encountering Josh's channel i job hopped and doubled my salary. After a year i did that again.

Not lying is hard. People can't say "hey, my last manager had narcissistic personality disorder and fired me when she realized my wife was pregnant so she could feel powerful." In that situation, you'd have to lie or you'd seem like you're dogging your last employer. And here's the real tea: they want you to lie. Why? Because you're showing them that you're playing by their rules. If you have to lie to get their approval, they're the Gods and you're the peasant.

I *used* to lie in the past - that's exactly what got me my first few jobs and now that i got some experience i dont need to lie anymore; my XP outweighs my gaps and missing skills, certificates and whatnot by a LOT. Honestly the backasswards thing about "hire someone with no experience" is that... Well... There is rarely EVER a position in Coding/Programming field or company that is willing to do that in my experience. Of the 70 applications I've put in thus far as a person who has 0 'professional' experience (school doesn't count, imagine that and COVID screwed internships over), it's always been "you don't qualify sorry" and it's like, bitch, I've seen your websites. Look at it from the other side: If you post an honest job post for something that requires no experience and has a decent salary, you will get tens of thousands of applications (especially if it’s remote). And B) Part of me thinks that they want you to let’s say exaggerate your skills and experience. Because that shows you have balls, are up to a challenge, and are willing to grow within their company. But of course, like with everything in life, you need to read between the lines.

I immediately got the job I wanted in QA after I lied about the freaking gap and years of expirience in the resume. Got a raise three months in, a thank you letter from the customers and now they use my design as a model for all the test cases because of the QoL changes I introduced. As it turns out, I was completely honest in the interview and didn't lie about what I can do (because you literally can't do that). Get mad, boomers.

Haha for some reason she's always on my linkedin. She's a CISO trying to change how HR works. They'll be like JR Cyber Security Analyst but need 3+ years and a CISSP, CISA, CSE, OSCP. You need to be in a paying cyber role for 5+ years to even get the chance to take the CISSP. She did take the video out of context though. Both her and Josh are trying to change how these HR people go about everything.

Such a great point about companies lying. They get to lie and people going for the job can't? HAHAHA...ohkay. The company should be smart enough to test the person or get to the grit of the person to know if they're a fit for the job. So true. The job post writers SUCK at writing such posts. Joshua. From the heart, you make some or the most honest and useful content on the internet. I'm not in IT at all but what you say applies widely. The problem people have with you stems from the fact that you think logically and speak precisely. Emotional types don't know what to do with that. And that's way over half of society.

I have job gaps because I am fiscally responsible and can afford to stop working for several months at a time if I need to quit a job I hate, or just need some time off. It's funny that companies look down on people that leave jobs they are unsatisfied with and who are financially stable enough to stop working. It makes sense though, they want someone who is dangling by a thread financially so that they can Lord that over them. When you don't blow your paycheck every Friday at company happy hour, you can afford to leave the company.

Yeah, the funny thing is, what you learned in college usually doesn’t have dick to do with what you will do on the job. Apart from the fact that every company does things their own way, a lot of companies use proprietary tools, systems, and software. Which means that regardless of your experience, you will need to learn those systems from scratch once you start the job.

@@RealPolitik-dy4it BINGO!!!!!! and now we have a 1.8 BILLION $$ disaster on our hands, and we as taxpayers ultimately pay for this. Corporate Welfare is the name of the game if you really examine many angles of the problem. Seeing how the federal reserve can just buy corporate bonds to help their cash flow is beyond insane to me. They do the same with fiscally insolvent cities that are being ran into the ground via municipal bond purchases. All of this is like one big game of Monopoly where a few key players are handed liquidity in order to further consolidate the board into fewer hands but keep enough players playing that they can "rent" their survival. It's sickening.

I used to work for a head hunting firm for a hot minute in 2012, and I’ve got news for that woman: all resumes are a work of creative writing. My main job was crafting resumes. Job calls for a bachelors degree? No problem. Even if you did one semester at community college your program was a BS program or BA program. Leave off the graduation date and Viola! You just landed an interview. I’ve gotten skilled workers jobs who never finished high school. They proved they could do the job but lack university pedigrees and were excluded from the applicant pool for that reason. It was costly for these job seekers to hire us (1.5x their 1st month’s salary). I worked with doctors and architects and engineers who were educated abroad but couldn’t find work in the US outside of food service or janitorial work. These people were way smarter than me and the job requirements just pissed me off. Some trustifarian douchebag who barely managed to graduate from an Ivy League school was turning down jobs while very smart and hard working people were cleaning toilets.

After 10min to the video I felt the amount of emotion poured out. It is sad how our society is easy to manipulate just because people grow without reading books and thinking on their own. Rather relying on other people opinion, who often are labeled as 'experts'. Lots of demagoguery from the side of people like this lady from LinkedIn and those who provided her approval. No facts checking, happy opinion sharing on topic they don't know about. I guess we just need to accept the sad reality where we live, and carry on with the best of luck!

Thank you Bro! You perfectly understood my situation. I'm constantly pissed off at jobs NOT asking me TECHNICAL questions. They often admit that they don't have technical skills themselves, saving that for the next level of interviews. I refuse to PAD my resume, yet I'm constantly treated like I am by these people looking for the skills I have. Many times the recruiter is trying to convince me to LIE on my resume by putting FAKE information in there. I always think of this rather than lying to people: "Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive" Shakespeare
