Do you throw the bar out with your hips? Here's a variation of the snatch that will engrain the most efficient pull you can muster. This is with one of my personal favorites, the Vardanian Snatch
What: Vardanian Snatch (no hook, no feet, no contact)
Why: To smooth out the explosion phase of the pull and lengthen the pull under
How: Perform a snatch without foot movement, contact, and hookgrip, up to 50-75% for 3-5/1-3
When: As a primer before all snatch work, on a lighter technique day, or as a heavier variation to dial in mechanics

Thanks for the video Josh. I find these really helpful for improving snatch technique. Is there an equivalent for improving clean technique? Should the same no hook/no feet/no contact be applied to the clean as well or should there be modifications?

Yes, you could apply the same constraints to the clean. I found the no feet, no contact clean to completely transform my technique.

Hey Josh! Thanks for the video. Do you think the “no contact” part results in an additional benefit compared to no-foot no-hook snatches? It seems like you and Max tend to recommend that exercise a lot as a way to fix multiple technique errors. I struggle with reaching full leg extension in the snatch, usually cutting extension short and looping the bar when the weight gets heavy. This causes a lot of instability in the catch, having to step backward to save lifts, etc. I’m wondering if you would recommend giving these a try over no-foot no-hook snatches.

I think the no contact aspect is critical. Without your hips moving the bar, it's nearly impossible to not fully extend. For you, I'd have this as a staple in your program, either as a primer or lighter variation on an easy day.
