It was really cool that you were able to get them on the show earlier before he broke the world record. In the age of Instagram and TikTok, we can forget that there was a progression and there were steps in between these people making world records and just starting out for the first time.

Thanks for getting Eric Helms on to talk about this. For a lot of us recreational lifters, we shouldn’t become so obsessed with our body composition and weight class to the point where weightlifting is no longer fun and causes an eating disorder. That said, managing our body fat will improve mobility and improve general health. A reasonable goal is to find that weight class that allows you to achieve your best Sinclair and not constantly feeling achy and looking forward to the next meal.

I liked watching Olivia at Euros and Thailand, but after 6 minutes here, I am bored, because I am not hearing what I want to hear, as a new lifter...I would rather someone say, look we trained very hard before the euros' or wherever, we didnt just pick a number, but started off with such and such, and every session up'ed it by 2kg, with the view to peek just before this meet,,, I personally, dont understand why lifters waste energy in the backroom at a meet with numerous heavy lifts, before they go on..why waste energy...why not just warm up light and then save your strength of the big three lifts...these are the things I wish lifters would talk about, not what I did,,,

Been following for couple of years now & said way back then about having T shirts made that says Lift like Olivia! Having fun & enjoying life! She’s fulfilling her potential due to a great Attitude & Appreciation! Love that she follows F1 & that level of intensity. CrossFit really helped Weightlifting, unfortunately the presentation of the sport in the United States has always been lacking. Thank You Oliva for all the hard work, Keep it going Paris Gold is Your Destiny!!🙏🏋️‍♂️⚡️✨😊

Watching this after Europeans it definitely seems like 110 snatch 140 clean and jerk is opening weight for her. Crazy to think Kate Vibert is now calling Olivia Reeves the greatest US female weightlifter ever.

My lifting philosophy comes from Nietzsche: It is not surprising that the lambs should bear a grudge against the great birds of prey, but that is no reason for blaming the great birds of prey for taking the little lambs. But the birds of prey will say to themselves, “We bear no grudge against them, these good lambs, we even like them: nothing is tastier than a tender lamb.” To require of strength that it should not express itself as strength, that it should not be a wish to overpower, a wish to overthrow, a wish to become master, a thirst for enemies and antagonisms and triumphs, is just as absurd as to require of weakness that it should express itself as strength. It’s toxic but damn does it hype me up

I love it how people can not digest the truth. Happens all the time with brodericks interviewers. They are afraid of losing followers, because these will 98% talk shit and don't know nothing at all about what's going on in pro sports

There are mountains of information out there on PEDs for bodybuilding, and a small amount for powerlifting. There is almost nothing out there for weightlifting or track and field. The closest we get are PEDs for MMA, and even that is too far from what we’re interested in because of their need for steady state cardio

I can do snatch with relatively good form & position from power position down to mid thigh, but below that, things start to fall apart. Can't have full extension, because I think I bring my back too far behind the bar. Any advice or drill to correct that? Thanks
@PhilosophicalWeightlifting

Watch my Vardanian snatch video. Remove the contact and foot movement and it will greatly improve your extension.

Thanks for the video Josh. I find these really helpful for improving snatch technique. Is there an equivalent for improving clean technique? Should the same no hook/no feet/no contact be applied to the clean as well or should there be modifications?
@PhilosophicalWeightlifting
@PhilosophicalWeightlifting 9 ай бұрын
Yes, you could apply the same constraints to the clean. I found the no feet, no contact clean to completely transform my technique.

Which one is better to improve your overall snatch, block snatch from the knee or hang snatch from the knee? Don't have access to the block
@PhilosophicalWeightlifting
@PhilosophicalWeightlifting 10 ай бұрын
They are both excellent. If you don't have access to blocks, I would consider putting in a no feet snatch with a pause above the knee. That's similar enough, but still different to help with skill acquisition.
