After a couple weeks with the Moto Razr+, let's see how the larger cover screen flips the script on this foldable form factor in three ways -- as an expansion to the general smartphone experience, as a larger canvas for creativity, and as a potential replacement to the main display entirely. It seems Motorola has done well to refresh the flip smartphone game, so here are my thoughts on the Moto Razr+ after week one!

I KNEW there was psychology behind having a flip phone compared to having a regular candy bar type of phone! I KNEW it! One major reason why apple got rid of the home button! I knew it! Dude. I thought I was crazy. I’ve been trying to tell countless people about the psychology behind using the kinds of phones we use nowadays compared to having a flip phone. Thank you SO much for that validation. Thank you!

I've had the Razr Plus since 6/21 and I am loving it. The fold in the middle is hardly noticeable wile using. Yes your finger can feel it but it's not intrusive. The way the screen folds into the hinge is cool. The Motorola is nice to come back to. The camera has the Magic Eraser feature I was missing. Apps on the exterior screen are ok, it is nice to read and send messages without opening the phone. There is a feature called Ready For--- It runs the phones software on your Computer or TV. On the TV the phone turns into a wireless remote with cursor or without. You can actually have multiple apps open on the TV, Netflix on the left and messages on the right, or whatever you like. It's pretty cool. This is also the best fingerprint sensor I've used. Anyway, hope this helps a little. I just can't put it down. I have no issues with battery life either.

I'm hoping to get mine tomorrow. Do you use a screen protector? I hate scratches so I always put one one day 1. I can't find any good ones on Amazon. Are they supposed to cover front and back screens? Thanks.

I heard the crease becomes a bit more noticeable after a few uses. Probably too early to tell but have you noticed this yet?

This is the first phone that I have been excited about in atleast 10 years. Seriously, I wasn’t this excited since the Droid X. Been using an IPhone for 5 years now as just the appliance that it is. The Razr looks fun and exciting.

Are you planning to make another video about this phone? I loved how you showed the limitations on Instagram camera, and honestly its really hard finding reviewers who tests 3rd party camera. I would love to see more impressions on this, not only on Instagram, but other apps as well.

Moto is coming in hard! I’m really at a crossroads because I’m serious loving what I’m seeing. I have been using Samsung for a very long time and I love my Flip 4.. I’m curious to see what Samsung will allow you to do with their new product. I’m going to hold out longer before making a decision. I want the comparison videos first… But it s so tempting… I really love the bigger display.

I’m the same, I’ve always had either Apple or Samsung. I skipped on the 23 ultra this year, I just pre-ordered the Motorola Razr plus a few days ago. I don’t think I’ve ever had a Motorola, so I’m taking a chance. That is smart though, wait until the end of July to see what the Z flip 5 has.

I'm in the same boat as well, I have the zflip 4 and reallly want th razr+. But the trade in values on motorola aren't the best and I don't want to be locked to a carrier via their promos. Ughhhh

Great content just one question I've looked at loads of Moto Razr+ videos but none has touched on the Microsoft suite of software such as Notes, To Do, Outlook etc can those be used on the front cover screen? Many thanks Fin

One thing I use constantly on pixel is the passive song search on the lock screen. Is this feature available for non-pixels like the razr? This phone is really calling to me

I love the phone so much that I purchase a China ROM set because my home country not bringing in. Happy when I got it 2 days back, then hit into issues; my SIM only works with VoLTE but it is nowhere found. Provider advise to make calls with their voice apps, done so, happy to make call but stress out as I can receive incoming call, friends calls were diverted 😢 Next, there's no eSIM found, how can I do dual SIM then??? Do you have any suggestions to help me out?

I am considering this phone, but I have a question for someone who already owns it. If you open an app, say Google Keep on the cover screen for checking your grocery list while in the store, but you put it away for 2 minutes, then check again, does it open the app you last opened and not closed, or do you have to open it again after the screen was shut off once?

I've been loving the phone so far, but the cameras have been a disappointment. Why can't moto and other foldable phone OEMs give us a great camera on a device with this form factor?

I tend to think it's a space issue, ultimately. But with that in mind, I wouldn't be mad about a flip phone that's pretty thick on both halves. Maybe even top heavy for the sake of cameras

It is totally possible to give a very satisfactory camera performance with these size constraints using the tried and true pixel 6A sensor + google magic. Wonder if google might pull it off if/when they do their flip phone.

Is 3 button navigation available on outer display? Also, looking forward to a further review of 2023 Edge+. My current phone is a 2020 Edge+, and the 2023 version is the first version that I have considered upgrading to as the 2021 and 2022 versions were lackluster at best.

Yes the 3 button nav works on the outside screen. I've had the phone since 6/21 and the only thing I've found subpar is the lowlight photos and videos but I don't use that feature that often.

Is it possible to make and receive phone calls with the phone folded? This was not possible with the Flip 4 which seemed to me to be an omission.

Yes you can take calls when the phone is closed, even in apps like Telegram, using the speakerphone

It is possible to take calls on the flip, to make calls, you can. It's just limited to 3 people that you add on the widget for the calling shortcut.

Motorola’s sending me one as part of their retail advocacy program and it should arrive today. As a long-time folding phone skeptic, I’m looking forwards to seeing how the phone does, but I’m not expecting great things from the camera and I still haven’t been convinced of the use case of a folding phone.

Would you mind reviewing the 3rd party camera performance? It's really hard to find someone who talks about it. Usually, all tech reviewers focus only on native camera app, and I'm truly interested in how the cameras will behave in 3rd party applications 😊 I loved that Joshua pointed out the external display limitation on Instagram, and I would love to see more about it and in other apps as well.

@uhm175 yeah... good idea, but it wouldn't solve my problem. If I was just concerned about image quality, I would certainly invest in a professional camera, but that's not the case. I have my reasons to ask what I asked.

You didn't mention how it works as a phone. How easy is it to dial, get rid of telemarkers, set up individual dial tones, text. How easy is it to use the keyboard. Some of us use the phone to make phone calls and answer them and quickly get rid of unwanted phone calls.

Great video!!! This is the first flip phone that I actually want. Been looking for something new and this might be it. BTW I've been watching you since you was with AA. Really don't like the new Samsung flip folder screen. I'm sure they will be a comparison video.

The screen isn't going to be a big deal, its not going to be worth paying for old specs when you can get the same value, a better camera, a better ip rating, and better support for updates. It's not going to be fun when you get the android versions months after everyone else.

I was around when cell phones first came out. They were pocket sized and you flipped them open to make a call. Then, they progressed to smartphones, where you didn't have to flip them open because everything is on one screen. Now we have flip-smartphones that make no sense. This fad will fade.

This video was primarily just talking about the use of the cover screen and what it brings to the table. Still assessing how using either and both screens daily really impacts general usage. So far, battery life doesn't seem too different from regular bar phones with similar capacities. More in an upcoming video.

@@shuvadeepdey2574the battery size doesn't seem large, but it doesn't need to be since you do quick tasks on the cover screen. if you do everything on the main screen, then this phone isn't for you.
