I mean, by Josh's own admission the expensive rolls were only 10 times better than the cheap ones - meaning they should be worth $50, not $500. So it seems clear that you get the better value from the simple dish. Not that I'd turn down the expensive one if offered, of course. Looked damn good.
@pc-ft9dy

I would love to see the cost breakdown. I have a feeling that there were tons of leftover ingredients from the $525 one, so seeing how much it actually costs per serving and how much each ingredient cost would be a nice addition!
@dedompler
@dedompler 2 жыл бұрын
hard agree. cooking tutorials always seem to break down the per serving cost when it's for "cheap & at home alternatives", ignoring the full purchase price of all ingredients - yet any time there's a video using the "cheap vs expensive" format they only show the full purchase price.

One of the tastiest sushi rolls I have ever had was something a sushi chef threw together on the fly after learning flavors I liked. I can’t remember what exactly was inside it, but I can remember he laid the pieces on their side, topped them with some tuna tossed in sriracha, and laid a slice of lemon so thin you could see through it on top. It was DELICIOUS!!

My brother's favorite sushi concoction is one he calls the "jalapeno popper roll." It consists of thinly sliced teriyaki-marinated sirloin steak strips, seeded and julienned jalapeno peppers, cream cheese, and crisply cooked bacon cut into thin strips. It's absolutely amazing. Korean bulgogi also makes a great sushi filling, with a wee bit of kimchee for a little crunchy spice.

There’s this place my husband and I love and have been ordering faithfully from for as long as we’ve been together, and I would LOVE to make it for him.
