I have a lot of recordings...but I only have one of a work for harpsichord that is played on a piano: the one that made Glenn Gould famous. It sounds as good today as it did when I was 16. It made Russians start playing Bach. So it's not always bad.

I played this piece not so long ago in a kind of recital. I wish you had made this video earlier hahahaha. My sheets had the same crescendos. My most noticeable mistakes quere in the notes though :(, the video proves it.

can anyone tell me if this piece is supposed to be a hard one or easy one!? I played this for my performance level exam!! But I still don't understand what is so challenging about a piece made of C major chords, so that it is considered a performance level piece!? Am I missing an idea or something? to me, it just requires steadyness, solid notes, and some dynamics. really dont know why it is a performance level piece

+Josie Lau You're right, it's pretty easy to play the notes as they're written. I think that's the point though, it so simple that you can focus 100% on your expression and dynamics, which is probably what they're looking for. Your musical interpretation.

This, (C major prelude) is the door to WTC I. Sometimes simple things are the harder to grasp. The way I understand this piece is as fundamental that it can be felt trivial in a mathematical way of thinking... And there is the clue, so obvious, but then you have it standing at each demonstration (for this case, every prelude). You can think, for first time, that it's one of the easy-ones of Bach, may be it really is (easy Bach is not Bach, it's Anh, lol!). But then, you realize that making the best of this piece, is hard stuff. Love your questioning, you really feel there is something in there. And there is. 'Quaerendo invenietis' would say the Master (as in BWV 1079) @Josie Lau

I am not a professional pianist, but I just discovered this piece, and am learning it by ear . The hardest part for me is the fingering. My hands are not large. I've tried various fingerings using two hands for the 8-note motifs and each one gives me its own tiny little distinct struggle. It looks like he plays the first 3 notes with left hand and the next 2 notes with right hand(?)

I’m 68 and on my third year of playing piano. It’s hard! Not so much the notes but adding the emotion and feeling of the piece is challenging.

Josh Wright I see! Well, then I recomend you work on the layout or find another way to easier edit, cause these great videos will lose Lots of viewers purely because of this! It looks outdated, even though abviously the content isnt! But yeah, just my opinion!:)

4:48 what the hell does the 5 6 5 mean ???

I presume he means V chord then VI chord then V chord (Perhaps he means arpeggios of those chords?) It's the diatonic chord whose lowest note (in the root position) is the same number as the chord, counting upward in the scale. Hence, in the key of C, V would be G major chord and VI would be A minor chord. I hope I articulated that with proper terminology, but you better check with a real musician to be sure. Anyway, that's how I interpret his 5 6 5 comment.

it is a technical name of the first inversion of the dominant seventh chord.
