I was with you UNTIL the rope 🤮...why not get the disgarded metal banding that goes on pallets , measure, drill and rivet ?...that would give it the real McCoy look. 👍..I'm going to skip the stain ,as real barrels are never stained...maybe oil. ?...😘🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

As a professional tablesaw operator for many trophy shops in the Midwest for over 30 years, I feel I need to give you some pointers. The best cut on the tablesaw is one that never stops till it clears the blade. The best advice in a construction shop is to 1st build a cutoff table for the tablesaw (that will greatly increase the accuracy of your cuts allowing you to fully cut any piece) and could possibly have lock wheels to move it when you need more space in the shop for bigger projects. Nice job on the barrel. Interesting techniques you use but it all works out in the end when you have a finished product. Keep building. You have a good future in that. And thanks for sharing

Thank you for watching and for the tips, I am making an outfeed table right now

I know you have the splitter installed, which is good because your habit of pushing on the scrap side of a rip is a terrible habit to get into. That piece should fall free and you should push the business side completely through like the above mentioned said. Even with the splitter installed a harder wood might have kicked back. Even if your splitter is exactly the same thickness, and perfectly aligned, sometimes wood under tension, and yours was pretty well warped at the start, will spring free once released because of the cut, and bind.

Dude, that's some legit work. I've never seen the glue lamination bending, and I'm not new at this. I did have the same response as a whole buncha other folks, you owe yourself an outfeed table. Keep doing this! A nice result, well executed and well explained.

Young G you are doing great but you need an outfeed table for that table saw. More importantly don't grab wood from behind the blade. If it kicks back it will snatch your hand back over the blade. With that being said Keep doing great work!

nice job! for safety, pls consider purchasing or building an outfeed table instead of pulling your pieces off the table saw. also, pls screw down your table saw. lots of wobbling at 45 - 50 seconds

Beautiful and innovative I'm truly impressed. As many others have mentioned, you are very talented!! I've already started the smaller barrel Josh displayed in another video. I really didn't expect it to work out on my first try... but I followed Josh's concise advice it is looking really fantastic! It may turn out be one of the coolest things I've ever made... or "we" have ever made using Josh's Engineering & Design Skills!

Very cool project! A tip I picked up when it comes to applying my finish coats of poly is too get a generous amount on the brush, and apply the poly in one long stroke, applying more pressure the farther into the stroke you get, that way more poly comes off and you get on nice even coat. If you miss a spot just get it during the next coat of finish, just make sure that there’s no high spots. I didn’t think it would matter that much but it took my projects to the next level :)
