🍑 😂Hey! Please get used to the common unit of weight in China-斤(jin) which is 500gram, half a kilogram. Groceries are NOT sold by kilogram in China. The sign says that and he tried his best to tell you it’s 28 yuan for half a kilo. The sign next to it also says no self picking, these peaches are a special varietal grown and fast transported by air freight(expensive) in Beijing for its maximum freshness, it’s popular for its juicy, sweet and delicious flesh, they ARE expensive, he didn’t try to scam you on such a small amount, rare to see that in China, their business doesn’t rely on foreigners, there isn’t overwhelmingly desperate sales in China if you compare to those South Eastern tourism countries(Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia), he wouldn’t even care whether you buy any or not, due to the hassle of communication😂. Also, he told you please do not touch because he was worried you couldn’t read the sign and would finger press the peach to see if they’re soft and ripe enough. It’s a small vender he would probably lose money if there were a few peaches damaged and couldn’t sell. Last, please don’t expect EVERYTHING in China is cheap. These are still cheaper than the regular supermarket peaches in Australia! I hope you enjoyed the 🍑😂

It wasn't a scam because the price was labeled 28 yuan half kilo, and above the price, it said that the peaches are grew in Beijing and shipped by air transport to Guangzhou - maybe that is the reason why so expensive. There was also a sign next to the price said "Please do not touch, thank you for your cooperation". Guangzhou have many delicious traditional foods, welcome to explore them! By the way, near your hotel has a restaurant called Chaoji Claypot Rice (超记煲仔饭), you can have a try~

Hi guys , you can eat rice either with chopsticks or spoon as you see fit. I see many western tourists trying to eat fried rice using chopsticks in S'pore facing much difficulties because the rice do not stick together like Thai sticky rice or sushi rice. Fried rice are usually loose after frying so eating with spoon is more logical than chopsticks. How to hold the rice with chopsticks when the rice are loose ? For loose rice , you can shove the rice with your chopsticks onto the spoon wheather the rice is on a plate or bowl. Or you can hold the bowl up & shove the rice into your mouth with your chopsticks. It all depends how you eat. There's no strict rules that you must eat rice with chopsticks. Thanks for reading 😊 Cheers 👌

As to the street vendor, if it’s a small store which is stationary, then you need a license to do business. If it’s a mobile one like on a tricycle, then it does not have a license. Before pandemic the government used to ban all these unlicensed vendors from selling stuff on the street and it was nationwide. After pandemic the economy was hurt badly and lower-class people were getting through enormous economic hardship and therefore the government decided to let go the previous policy to allow unlicensed vendors do business now.

This is the old district of Guangzhou. Although it doesn't have as many skyscrapers and neon lights as the new district, it is just as quiet and tidy. The old arcade buildings under the large banyan trees, the numerous old shops with delicious food along the way, all exude a vibrant and lively atmosphere. As someone who was born and raised in the old district of downtown Guangzhou, I have been away from my hometown and living in France for over twenty years, but I still miss the feeling of my childhood. Thank you for your video, and thank you for liking my hometown, Guangzhou. I wish you a pleasant journey in China.

Southern Chinese don't use chopsticks to pick up rice. What they do is used 4 fingers to support the bottom of the rice bowl, the thumb on the rim and bring the bowl next to the mouth and used the chopstick to push the rice into the mouth. The chopstick is used to pick up food (meat, greens, etc) from the plate and put the food into the mouth. After each morsel of food, take some rice. When eating in a group or within a family, Chinese people practice communal dining. They would be seated around a round table with a lazy Susan (turntable) placed at the center of the table. Several dishes of food would be ordered and shared. The dishes would be placed on the lazy Susan for easy accessibility. Whereas Koreans used spoon to scoop up some rice and put it into the mouth. The rice bowl remain on the table. Koreans considered it rude to lift the rice bowl.

If you come to Guangzhou again, I invite you to Foshan. I have a retro coffee shop to take you to drink coffee. Although my English is not very good, I believe that there is no problem with translation. Haha, and then there is also a city in Guangdong Province with a lot of delicious food, called Shantou. So far, I haven't seen foreign bloggers go there to visit. That city is very popular, called the city of food.

No wonder it looks so familiar when the video starts. My home in Guangzhou is nearby. You'll find this area pretty chill because it's not the CBD. I like this area; you can find some nice old restaurants. Busy areas would be places like Tianhe, where all the commercial offices are, and Liwan, the touristy area.

When studying Mandarin, you should first focus on learning how certain letters are pronounced when put together. For example, Zh- and Z- words, -n and -ng have different pronunciations. Xian and xiang would be very different whereas xian is more like "schienn" and xiang is "schann", you get the gist. Learning to pronounce vowels is crucial as well. Intonation is honestly not as important at first, because it's still possible to understand what word you say in the context of a full sentence. Yuan, like you said in the video, is not pronounced "yoo-an" as it would in english. Think of the name Gwen, yuan is pronounced just like that but with a Y.

1. The area where you live should be a residential area. In the residential area of Guangzhou, as long as you hear a restaurant that speaks Cantonese, the food there will not be bad. Because there is a saying in China that "food is in Guangzhou", if the restaurant is not good, it has been eliminated long ago. 2. You should try the soup in Guangdong, because there is a saying in Guangdong, that is, half of the body of Guangdong people is herbal tea, and the other half is soup. 3. In fact, most fruits in Guangdong are very cheap, such as mangoes, watermelons, etc., but peaches are not available in Guangdong, so they are more expensive. 4. The mommy who sells sandwiches should not have a formal license. In fact, everyone can receive transfers from others as long as they have Alipay and WeChat, and you are the same, because Alipay and WeChat have payment QR codes and collection QR codes. If you are lucky enough to see beggars in China, you will find that beggars also have WeChat or Alipay collection QR codes. In other words, beggars in China now also use QR codes to beg.
