I don't care what anybody says, I find this car beautiful. It's raw, wild, unfiltered and out of eye candy. It's made to win. That's why it's such an awesome car. If I was italian I would be proud.

Great video. In 1986 Toivonen drove this car around the Estoril circuit in Portugal and recorded a time that would have put him sixth on the Formula One grid!!!

Gruppo B, le auto troppo veloci per poter correre...la passione, la follia e un pegno di sangue altissimo.Non ho vissuto quell'epoca ma,oggi, vedendo queste immagini ho i brividi, e la consapevolezza che la storia non ci riserverà più così elevati momenti di automobilismo.

the best rally car never to win a championship!! This car is what group b was all about. the drivers saw the spectators as "bushes" as if they saw them as people they could not do what they did, CRAZY!!!

La Lancia Delta S4 c'est le monstre Italien par excellence ! La voiture qui avait permit à Henri Toivonen de remporter le RAC en 1985 , le Monte Carlo en 1986 ainsi que la Costa Smeralda en Sardaigne comptant pour le championnat d'Italie des Rallyes bien avant sa disparation au Tour de Corse avec son copilote Sergio Cresto alors qu'il était parti pour remporter une quatrième victoire en carrière après sa première victoire en 1980 au volant de la Talbot Sunbeam et les deux autres sur la Delta S4 afin de se relancer dans la course au titre de champion du monde des pilotes en cette année 86 qui devait être son année , Biasion et Alen ont participer à l'épopée de la Delta S4 avec les victoires en Argentine , au San Remo dont le résultat est annulé et l'Olympus Rallye malgré le contexte tragique qui endeuille le monde du rallye avec le carnage au Portugal ce qui a provoquer la colère des pilotes et le décès de Toivonen qui entraine du même coup la suppression du Groupe B à la fin de la saison 86 et l'annulation du Groupe S pour 1988 au profit du Groupe A en 87 La Lancia Delta S4 c'est la meilleure voiture de rallye des années 80 !

Tout à fait d'accord, pour moi elle et la Peugeot 205 T16 sont les 2 meilleures voitures du Groupe B. Mon cœur balance beaucoup entre les deux, mais la S4 est ma favorite, surtout conduite aux mains d'Henri Toivonen, car Henkka est ad vitam mon chouchou en rallye. Sa S4 est en miniature au 1/43 sur ma table de nuit depuis près de 15 ans. Salut champion j'espère qu'on t'a préparé une S4 au ciel et que tu continue à éclater les chronos avec. Repose en paix ❤

this car is soo cool it did form 0 til 100 km/h in just 2,3 seconds on gravel!!!! that means that the car is accelerating faster than a bugatti veyron!!!

The Lancia Delta S4 (S=supercharged ; 4 for 4WD) was composed by one turbo garrett T3 and one Kompressor Volumex. It's the first car with this association. And Toivonen dead with Groupe B in this Corsica Rally

Non cè nulla da fare, le Gruppo B erano mostri incredibili, ma nessuna macchina lo ha dimostrato come la S4, le idee sviluppate erano 1 passo avanti alla concorrenza, tanto per dire che fino a pochi anni fa (e lo ha detto il grande ingegner Lombardi in un documentario) noi italiani eravamo il meglio come idee e tecnologia, tanto che poi ci hanno copiato... rivedere queste immagini è ogni volta 1 emozione, macchina così sono indimenticabili...

Concrete on the Panzerplatte stage at ADAC Deutschland Rally. F1 is running on tarmac. :) And you are right. The to class are so far from each other TODAY, there is no possible comparsion between them. Not like back in the 80's. Stig "The Best" Blomquist has beaten Keke Rosberg on a curcuit with same car, and Keke was champion than! And so on. For Gr.B rally cars were needed better drivers than for F1 cars. 2.3 sec for 0-100km/h on gravel is more than amazing. How is the F1's does?

Just the sound of the thing bellowing through the forest is enough to strike fear into the most hardened men! Rallying these days has lost it's character, it's too safe. I bet Seb Loeb would'nt be 8 times world champion if had to wrestle with the controls of the S4 or the Sport Quattro! These cars will never be topped for drama & excitement.

It wasn't Toivonens accident alone that killed Group B, as there were several fatal accidents leading up to Toivonens crash

Sono più che certo che questa macchina darebbe ancora parecchio filo da torcere alle nuove macchine da rally!!!! In the late 70s' I was soooo horned for this sled. That's about the same time Lancia pulled out of N.America. Only alternative was it's sucessor, in a sense, the Audi S2 which was out of everyone's snack bracket. This was Lancia's Zenith, uh, er, to date.

I'm just pointing out that their's rarely original sound left in footage of these kind of cars. If you say a "real rally fan" never puts music over it, it can't be anything else then personal. Then again, I don't take this personally at all.

Yes, I have seen an F1 car. I've also seen an F1 car from 1986, which you obviously haven't. In terms of grip and cornering speed, they can't hold a candle to modern Grand Prix cars. They had ridiculous amounts of power but not much grip, making them rather a handful. A Group B rally car set up as stiffly as possible was just about a match for one over a lap. There's no point arguing, I read about this in Motorsport magazine and they're not in the habit of fabricating stories.

Today's competition cars are no more than computer games. I'd like to see current F1 or WRC drivers let loose with just 3 pedals, steering wheel, gearstick, and handbrake. No telemetry. Just driving skills. Hamilton and Loeb would be off at their first corners...

Cmq ho guardato il dvd di Biasion e...avevo ragione io a dire che te l'eri dimenticato! Biasion ha iniziato a correre nel gruppo B nella stagione '86 con il team ufficiale Martini vincendo addirittura la prima tappa del mondiale che si correva in Argentina a bordo dell'S4 e riuscendo a chiudere il mondiale al 5° posto...

Just a quick answer. I purposely left a gap were I dubbed engine sounds over the music (so watch the video). Also, most of the footage is already dubbed over with music or a voice-over. Music is a matter of taste. But thanks for liking the effort...

Why you people argue with these rally and f1? The two motorsports aren't even close to be related! F1 drivers drive on concrete and rally drivers on gravel! Why we need to argue? The two are a fantastic thing to watch and see live.

The continues ignorance of people. Again, most of the footage is already dubbed with voice-overs or other music, so no way I'm going to leave that in. It wouldn't make sence. as Koenez1991 pointed out, it's a tribute video. Please people, understand and just appreciate the footage.

i no doubt the cars from the 80's were harder to drive. people seem to get all romantic about the golden days, the s4 at estoril myth proves that.
