Does it overheat when you are closer to it? Like, 4-5 ft away - is it too hot to stand by?

Hi Rudi - really helpful video. Thanks. 2 questions - 1) how high did you go with your pipe vertically before the 90? I like that look so was wondering if you are 2 ft or more off the top of the stove. 2) Does the stove you purchased have the optional Black Reflective Glass firebox liner? I am trying to decide between that and having none at all but cannot find photos of each option.
@rudijones3 жыл бұрын
From the top of the stove to the top of the top of the 90 degree elbow (top of horizontal section of pipe) is 31.25 inches and I do not have the reflective glass firebox liner.

What is the efficiency of it? You said 25K BTU's, that is input. What does it output?

Hello! We just had this stove installed and have been underwhelmed with the built in fan. How do you feel about yours? We previously had a wood stove - when we added a blower to it (after market) it nearly cooked ha out of the house. We can’t tell a difference with our fan on or off with the 160. Having trouble getting an answer from our installer. Thanks in advance!

It’s definitely not the most powerful fan that’s for sure. We dint use the fan at all in our particular situation so it’s hard to say how well it works. We do use a thermoelectric fan that sits on the top and helps move the heat around.

Thanks for this. Can you also comment on whether you could directly plug this into the wall, whether there is any battery back up and how the pilot light turns on or off? Also is that the maximum height the flames go and do the flames look small? Also you mentioned a 1 inch gas line. I have a 1/2 inch. That would still work right? What was the cost of venting?
@diybuildandlife2073 жыл бұрын
Hello - can you kindly let me know? I am on the fence right now on this stove.
@rudijones3 жыл бұрын
You can plug this into the wall and there is also an AA battery backup. The Mac height of the flames is about 6”. They are sized right for the size of logs and stove. 1/2” should work but depends on how far it is run from gas meter. Longer pipe means more flow restriction. Venting was 800.00 wholesale.

@@rudijones thank you. I have follow up questions. I am on the fence between this and the GF305 model. I am told this one has a smaller burner and the GF305 has a bigger burner and therefore better flames and wider looking area. How important has the burner size been for you? Are you happy with the size? Also many things seem to bee standard on this model but need to be bought separately as accessories on the gf305. How loud is the blower fan on yours and do you have option to turn it off or on? Also does this have accent lights? Also did you buy the liner separately? I also heard the first thing that goes wrong is the blower fan. Have you had any issues? One year in I am assuming you are happy with this buy.

Hi, Rudi. Great video! We just got ours installed. Reading the manual, I noticed that it says that off-gassing of the paint and log set ceramic material may leave a white, powdery deposit on the inside of the glass, which must be cleaned to prevent permanent etching of the glass. Nowhere does the manual say how to remove the glass to clean it. Do you know? And if so, can you explain it? Thank you. Be well.
@rudijones3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes I read that too but to be honest with you ours never got a haze. We’ve been using it a lot for almost a year now and I haven’t had to clean it. If I had to clean it though o would probably just use a wood stove type glass cleaner.
@SambasWithSophie3 жыл бұрын
@@rudijones Thank you. It says to use gas stove glass cleaner. But it doesn't show how to get to interior to clean the inside of the glass panels and that's what has us stumped.

Hi Rudy, I have this unit using propane gas. The tech could not increase the height of flame despite adjusting the mixture and checking all the electrical connections. Any suggestions. Thanks, Nick
@rudijones3 жыл бұрын
If all drafts and pressures were set properly then the only way to adjust flame height is with the valve shown near the end of the video. Mine was not connected from the factory.

Nick, I have a unit converted to propane too and I can’t adjust the flame much either. Did you find a way to correct that?. Ed

Love the stove. I made a video replacing the ignition system in it. It’s really the only issue I’ve had for it so far. They were installed with ignitions that can rust out but I installed the stainless steel replacement with no issue so far. I believe they come with stainless ignition from factory now.

@@rudijones great! Yes saw that video too! I will be getting my gf160 installed on Aug 18 2023….truly my choice was a lot made based on your excellent approachable teaching reviews…..I needed this confidence!! Can’t wait to get it here in the home - initially thought to be emergency backup heat for my all elec 1200 sq ft house….but heck you said your home heated up nicely with this size stove so may end up using all winter season in Michigan! Do you only keep battery backup in the battery box as needed for power outs -- or can you leave a set of 4 in the box for the winter months and remove in Spring? Thank you!

Thanks for making this video! How much did the stove cost?
@rudijones4 жыл бұрын
Justin Perry I think the stove itself without accessories like the piping and gas lines was approx 4300 CAD

@@rudijones how much was the vent piping and terminator? I'm finding a set up like that, not even with the nice black finish is $500 USD just for parts.
