I have been a kindergarten teacher for most of my adult life, I love being of service to those genuine little souls. I know it to be truth that as human beings, we are born, hard wired to give to others. I have witnessed this over and over. I would teach 5 year olds my entire life if I could. I love their souls.

Jay speaks very passionately and energetically but his content falls flat for me. I feel like he has exploited his experience as a monk rather than embodied it. I didn’t know about the plagiarism situation until reading about it in the comments but I’m not surprised. I never believed that so many nuggets of wisdom genuinely came out of this one man. He’s energetic, good looking and has an accent. That’s it. Love Rich- only podcast I listen to!

"He has exploited his experience as a monk rather than embodied it" - you write exploit as if he has committed an atrocity. There will always be more than one motive driving a human being. Although, i'm sure he is somewhat driven by material means, his content is inspirational, profound and he is disseminating vasts amount of ancient knowledge in an effective way. His billions of views says it all.

The thing is, he spent time in an ashram 'maybe' that does not make him a monk if he actually did. I have spent countless hours/consecutive days at Buddhist meditation centers. This does not make me a monk, nor would I ever claim it did. The best that Jay Shetty could ever do is call himself a practitioner since there has never been any real proof of any certification. And a monk plagarizing others work, and not giving them any credit for it, and calling it his own. You have to question this 'monks' ethics, and morality in regards to this. 🤣

People have different preferences. I think he is doing a great service of spreading wisdom, and if you watch more of him you´ll realize he is more humble than the comment sections portrays him as. No one is perfect, but he do give a lot of credit and appreciation. Anyways, I suppose the amount of people who listens to him tells us how great he spreads wisdom to a culture that is very hungry for it, and that has lost their sense of aim and meaning in life - which is incredible!

The negative comments are here for a reason. Do some research regarding Jay, and you will discover why for yourself. You seem to want to understand spirituality? Step one into discovering the truth to things, Buddha/Siddartha once said, question everything, including himself. That might be a good place to start Janine. 🙂

Who Jay is, I can't possibly know. But, I love his ideas (or for the haters, the messages that he has learned along the way). I appreciate his energy. Perhaps I'm not as "woke" as some, but this is fantastic...to me.
@anthonyk1461

@@AndyBlasquez that's the thing, they aren't 'his' ideas. They are from other people that he plagarized from, and are passing them off as his own. It is well documented. So in case you intend on calling people haters, know that their is actually a valid reason why people dislike him. There are quite a few other reasons, but this is one of the main ones. If you continue to like him, and believe that these ideas are originally his, just remember what the old saying is. "There is a sucker born every minute" That is what Jay is counting on.

Being seen with all your faults and all the things you don't like about yourself and still not being judged, and still invested in, is an incredibly powerful thing, and the best thing one can give to someone. I have felt this occasionally from great teachers, but it is so rare in this world. May we all know this, experience it for ourselves, and give it to others. From this so much healing can happen in the world

More and more depth unraveled throughout the interview. I do understand even more now why these take 2hrs as it takes time/conscious engagement/mindful conversation to get somewhere where both parties co-create the mood and vision so enticingly presented to us listeners who receive sudden boost of inspiration on our own paths. ☀️

Today I just received this remarkable and amazing book. I have read through many page’s, what is more I think I am addicted to this. I knew it that I will gain knowledge of the best lessons of my life from this amazing book ever. Since, I already have learned the greatest lesson of my life from Jay Shetty Sir. Because of this book I come to know plenty of thing my passion, commitment and the most significant is patience. And I am confident that I will learn more by this book. Thank so much for writing this book to all of us and educating us best lessons of our life. You don’t have to be a monk to think like a monk. Well, this book clarifies us a lot .When you think like a monk you’ll understand .How to prevent overthinking, How to overcome fear, how to overcome negativity, how to learn from each and every person you meet, why compassion and gentleness is vital to success and much more. It feels amazing to take a short moment out of my busy life to spend it on studying on how to be a improved version of ourself , and hopefully by this, create a healthier life for ourselves. I highly recommend this book to someone who ever has self-doubt & feels lost. if u want to buy the book from amazon buy this from that link sites.google.com/view/best-product-online/think-like-a-monk-paperback-8-september-2020

Anyways, I suppose the great amount of people who listens to him tells us how great he spreads wisdom to a culture that is very hungry for it, and that has lost their sense of aim and meaning in life - which is an incredible service! We can choose whether to focus on the beauty of a moon as a whole or the black holes in it :)

That was great. I kind of understand what he was saying. I was stationed in Thailand twice . Thats probably the closes I'll ever get to India. What I'm saying is that I learned so much being there. I had a girl friend take me to the Temple in the evenings before retiring for the night. We would go through the routine of lighting the three incense in prayer. One day a guy came to the alter, lit the three incense, prayed, and then he raised a stone Buddha over his head three times. I could not believe what I just seen. My girlfriend said "try." I said "I can't do that," She said "try" again. So this time I did. As I had told her I could not. On the way home that night she told me tomorrow you will raise the Buddha over your head. She repeated this to me all day until the next day. I sad OK I'll try again. This time the same stone Buddha felt like it had no weight at all. It went over my head three times with ease. That was the must strongest lesson in life. Believe in yourself and let life happen.God bless my fiend. Peace!!!!

Key Points in my opinion 1. Jay mentioned again; plant trees under which u do not plan to sit. 2. Jay; first half of the day; was about the self. 430 wake up, 530 self-meditation, then group meditation led by a top monk, then breakfast. Second half of the day was service; helping others. Part 1 = self. Part 2 = service. There is this synergy between self and service. 3. When u protect your purpose, your purpose protects you. 4. You can find meaning in a place u don’t want to be in, to help you get answers for what u want to do in the future. Rich : “That is a cool lens”. 5. Big difference between detachment and indifference; Jay quotes a writer; detachment does not mean u own nothing, it means nothing owns u. 6. Another detachment meaning; detached from the result, focus on the process. I bet Gary would love this. 7. Intentions are all percentages. Examples; 75-25. You may do something 75% good intention, but 25% you are noting how much £ u can make. Jay says this is process of purification. In purity, there is impurity. 8. Rich Roll; amazing point; If I am appealing to selfish people about service, then at least, if you do it, if u help people, your life will improve. Even if you are doing it for this selfish reason, your life will improve. Wow. That is thought-provoking. Did I miss any?

Powerful interview. Sad to see (but not surprising) this comment section cherry picking the plagarism gripe many have had with Jay. So quick to poke holes in someone, but why? What's the end game there? "He's imperfect therefore I'm invalidating his successful (and rare) attempts to bring unfamiliar philosophies to a different part of the world." He should listen to your opinion and just disappear... you're a saint after all right? I agree there's prob a lot of strategy in the way he presents himself (look, vernacular, etc.) and to me that's just intelligent marketing and in no way correlated with someone's integrity. John Doe in Ohio isn't gonna grab a copy of Vedic Hymns... he's got a book out that's going to introduce supportive ideas to people who otherwise wouldn't have come across them, and you're in the comment section of one of his interviews.

Hi could someone help me please ? I listened to an episode of RR very similar to Jay Shetty and I would like to listen again. One of the stories I remember was of the person being at a checkpoint in India but they wouldn't let him in (I think because he had no money ?). Eventually he was let in and met a Yogi or monk. Sorry for being vague but this is the reason I want to listen again because I remember really enjoying the podcast at the time, any help would be much appreciated. Cheers

Meditating for a year without having to go to an ashram is great for everyone. I've trained with traveling monks in my own city of Denver, Colorado. You don't need to become a monk to benefit from the practices.
