Since the weather is still too cold to move north toward Alaska, we spend more time exploring southern Utah. Boy, are we glad we did!
We spent time along LakePowell and Wahweap Bay at Lone Rock Dispersed Camping and unexpectedly bump into some friends. Although we had some chorin' to do, we still found time to try out Grand Canyon Brewery and Distillery and take an epic paddle/hike down the Colorado River, into Antelope Creek, and up Lower Antelope Canyon. It was incredible and even better shared with friends ‪@cedarandsilver‬.
From there, we moved further west to La Verkin and camped near the base of Hurricane Mesa. There we met up with some of our ‪@Xscapers‬ "Bash Buddies", ‪@getsomeadventures8068‬, for some hiking and catching up. They had to move on, but we spent some more time in the area walking along the Virgin River, trying local beers at Zion Brewery, and hiking in Red Cliffs National Conservation Area.
We had, and are continuing to have, a wonderful time exploring southern Utah. Next we head to Kanab, and east of Zion. We hope to see you there!

Wow, I amazed at the geology in those areas. The logistics of laundry, mail and package delivery while on the move is totally foreign to us. We have much to learn but glad to see you've figured it out and it is possible. So cool that you catch up with old friends out in the wild. Thanks!

Thanks for watching. Yeah, getting mail/packages on the road definitely has a learning curve. Just part of living out this big adventure.

We have been enjoying watching your adventures. As recent Oliver Legacy Elite II owners #1261, we are starting our adventures too. Looking forward to seeing your trip to Alaska as it is something we plan to do in the future. Our first big trip was to the Adirondack mountains seeking snow in January. Next we headed to Badlands, Glacier and Yellowstone. See you down the road, Matthew and Christi

Great trip. Is your truck a F250 or F150? What’s the brand of kayak you have? Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for watching! We have an F250 and and the kayak is a Sea Eagle. It’s pretty heavy and large compared to a Kokopelli Packraft, which is what some of our nomadic friends use, but it is capable of handling class IV whitewater and Stormy’s nails don’t phase it a bit.

Do you feel your Ford super duty to big of a rig to pull the Oliver II or just the right size? Is your truck a 250,350,450 super duty gas or diesel?

Thanks for the question. We have an F-250 gas with the 6.2l engine and 6-speed transmission. Honestly, it may be slightly overkill, but max weight of the Oliver loaded is 7000 lbs, so I like having the extra wiggle room. It has plenty of power, even in higher elevations; has more stopping power and stiffer suspension than a 1/2 ton (150); and can easily pull Piccolino without the need of a weight distribution hitch. For all those reasons, when it’s time to replace our current truck, it’ll be with another 250 gasser, just with the 10-speed transmission and maybe the Tremor for improved off-road abilities.
