Charles Taylor Footage (1993, Trailer): Footage of Liberian leader Charles Taylor after emerging victorious in a civil war in 1993. Taylor was later convicted of war crimes.
For downloads and more information. visit: www.journeyman.tv/?lid=64032
After 5 years of being on trial for war crimes, Liberia's Charles Taylor was finally convicted by the Hague on the 26th April of this year. This exclusive footage documents the former president's remarkably democratic dialogue during his first days in power, after winning the first round of the 1993 civil wars. Surrounded by his notorious senior officers, he describes the importance of the new war to 'win the hearts and minds' of the Liberian people.

everything about Charles Taylor is leadership and not just through the ballot but any means, therefore i can see him as a man who should have not been voted for in the first place if you only can analyse this speech

Countries change. Canada today is not violent because they inherited wealth. Poverty and hunger makes people desperate and they do things which are not normal. Don't criticize if you're not in their shoes.

After the Civil War Liberians were happy Samuel Doe government was toppled, but yet no progress in Liberia Economy after the Civil war, Charles Taylor came in as a Massiah to save Liberia from the hands of Traitors and Corrupt government at the end of the day Charles Taylor was charged to court of law for war crime. Africa is gifted with bunch of natural and material resources, yet those that make it to top and involved in Government always forget where they came from and let the power goes to their head in name of "Power and "Money". May God help Africa while the people too need to do needful and help their people from Oppression and Poverty!

Charles Taylor ( is that an African Name)? Charles Taylor was sent by the Americo Liberian and the American government to maintain their interest..Johnson Sirleaf was sent to repay all the interest that was lost from the 40 years of war..Liberia is a vassal state of the US. read your history..read the American colonization society correspondence to the Amero-Liberians at the early stages. It is in the Library of Congress. the information is available but many people refused to accept it because they are in denial. Liberians and their generation are at a disadvantage until the black Americans understand what they have done to that country, repent, and exposed the underhanded tactics that they use through their religious organization like the AME AMEZ, Methodist etc. They have gained all interest they lost in Liberia through the so-called first female president..but the country is in disarray and bankrupt...Weah is jsut another stooge the Americo-Liberian are using to push their interests...Just like they used Barak Obama in America to quiet the Blacks..if Weah gets out of order, they know do..the American laws will get him for child support and other stuff he has done while in America. Life stinks for the poor people..really stinks..But God says the wicked will have their day in the sun.

I agree with you. However, we must be cognizant of the history of African leaders going back before colonial times; many of the leaders were the most wealthy, had the power AND right to eliminate dissent for the long term 'good' of the kingdom or village what have you. Mix this history with a capitalistic mind state, abundant natural resources desired by outside interests and many different cultural groups, unrest is inevitable. Negotiation is by the gun and fear is the difference maker.

Charles Taylor did to Liberia’s unemployed and disgruntled young population what Foday Sankoh did to Sierra Leone. Both rebel leaders used the same tactics of lies, deceit and fake promises to capture the soul of thousands of young men and women. Both rebel leaders (Charles and Foday) died miserable death. But the damage they unleashed still continue to affect these countries today.

i think you got it wrong by concluding without careful and critical analysis of the people of liberia. I am a liberian but did not participate in any form during the war likewise my parents and you have come to such a conclusion, therefore you hold an apologise to liberians. I know some liberians did but you can not generalise personal responsibility

Obviously, you did not read my entire post. Take time and read all information before going off and assuming that someone has not done their homework. That is one of the main issues with us in the diaspora....everyone wants to be the king of information, but has no will to build with others who share similar thoughts. Good luck with your strategy, my brother...as you can see with the present situation, it does not work.

@@PauloSilva-ox7xt for any leader there are hardliners those who will over look everything and follow blindly and also there is a phenomenon where people after some time has past and things don't seem to be any better will look back at the past to find them "good Ole days" can even be ancient Kingdom days as long those time were better then the now. Form of escapism if you will and if optimistic to find hope.
