Most likely voltage regulalator in the alternator. While you are fixing things, make sure you have good grounds. I like to run a ground from the battery to the chassis, and also a ground (using 1/0 welding cable) from the battery to the block.

Check the exciter wire, i had that issue, basicslly the alternator was not getting a signal to start charging from that wire

I would check all your grounds. And make sure you have enough grounds. Efi and charging systems love grounds. Frame to block block to body heads especially to body. Just something to think about. Factory grounds sometimes aren't enough.

@@JovanMichaels a couple extra grounds never hurt. Even small braided grounds you can get at O'Reilly or AutoZone. In the help section.

Its your idle its to low for the alternator to charge the battery if most alternators charges around 900ish if you look at the video anytime it got closer to 1000 rpm the volts went up to 13.4 . To solve this you can put a smaller pulley on or up your rpm.

Yep push through don't let it get to you. It may be something that wasn't there before but parts sit and little things happen in time. So trust it will get better. Triple check stuff while your fixing the small stuff and once you get 2-3 things fixed it will be good for a while. And that heat where you are doesn't help either. It's brutal on parts.

Electrical issues are the worst. Months of chasing one down on my fox, turns out it was the trunk light staying on. Solved it then the fuel pump and axle seals blew. 30 year old race car problems…

I would use Teflon tape with pipe dope on fittings also I would go thru the wiring for the charging system to make sure the alternator is not bad possibly bad voltage regulator in the alternator. Best Wishes and Good luck , please keep Me updated Thank You . 🇺🇸 🇵🇷 🦊 👍

Alt - Has internal voltage regulator , the regular controls voltage output. try lightly tapping back of Alt. you can replace just the regulator.

I would say the same thing but one thing doesn't add up in order for the regulator to stop working the two contacts (brushes) on the round rotating copper (commutator) inside has to be worn to the point of no contact, thats done via normal wear from driving and i doubt he's even driven the car enough for the regulator contact leads ( brushes) to be worn out. Ps be careful taking the regulator off its spring loaded.

ok all you have to do is hit the throtle a couple times and see if the voltage go's up, i have a power master 200amp and sometimes the voltage will read 11.5 volts and when a purp the throtle it starts charging, weird i know.

Man I'd take the alternator up to the parts store and have them check it out, also with electric water pump do you have a few small bypass holes drilled into the thermostat?

@@JovanMichaels I had a charging issue with my upgrade alt kit. I made new huge wires with soldered ends for tge main power etc. Finally figured out the 200amp fuse was not popped but was causing resistance or something along those lines. I bypassed the fuse and fixed my problem. Mine wasn't intermittent but once everything got up to temps voltage started dropping. You could try temporarily bypass the fuse between alt and battery to see what Happens. Good luck

It may just be a faulty alternator, I've gotten brand new ones myself over the years and they're just junk outta the box! I'm a new sub and was wondering are those the new "as cast" AFR head's? I myself would have used Teflon pipe tape on that water pump fitting. What is the engine to begin with? And what size turbo? Also just thought, my trailblazer will charge when the battery is low but when the battery is charged the alternator like drops way down in voltage until the battery needs juice then it starts charging again!? Is your's like that??? No clue? But that's what my trailblazer does but it's a lot newer vehicle so I don't know if that's how your voltage regulator works or not??? I've heard from many, many KZfaqrs that you gotta stay consistent with putting out content to get the channel to grow!! Keep em coming bro!

Do you have underdrive pulleys installed? Set the idle higher and see if it corrects the voltage problem. Or reinstall the OEM pulleys.

pulley is stock.. dont think its the idle.. it has worked fine on that idle for months.. it just randomly dies. Think its the actual alternator that going bad
