Hi Nick here Jodie there. If you want to check out Joyce Grenfell in movies I would recommend the ST. TRINIANS series. First film was THE BELLES OF ST. TRINIANS (1954) followed by BLUE MURDER AT ST. TRINNIANS (1957). There are 7 in total but the older ones are the best. As teachers you will appreciate them. About a girl's school where every girl is 100% rebellious, the teachers are drunks, criminals, nymphomaniacs etc. Great British comedy.

Joyce Grenfell actually met Elvis Presley when they both appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show during one of his infamous appearances, in which he was filmed from the waist up. She described him as "Pleasant...in a roly-poly sort of way."

I directed the funeral for the cameraman on Ed Sullivan, who was instructed to keep the camera above Elvis’ waist or he’d be fired. He was also a cameraman at the 50 yard line at the first Super Bowl. He was originally an Air Force pilot, went into television because his wife was afraid of flying. Random facts.

Oh such memories ... I ran a play group for many years ...my fondest memories was a wee boy asked if he could look in my knickers ....!! I was horrified until he explained he wanted to know how old I was ...because his pant lable said he was 5-6 yrs and he was only 4 yrs. Another little girl gave me food for thought ...she said it was hard to be good when mum says she can do things then dad says she can't !!! Out of the babes mouths ...truth ! Precious days ...little lovelies are a constant source of joy AND indeed wisdom above their age . Treasure each moment of your children !!

When I was at secondary school in the late 1980s there was one teacher who, if she caught anyone chewing, would hold her hand out and demand to be given a piece of whatever gum, chocolate or sweets they had. So one day one of the kids pretended to be chewing, knowing that she'd spot him. When she walked up to him and held out her hand, he gave a piece of garlic flavoured chewing gum that he'd bought from a joke shop specially for the occasion. The teacher wasn't very happy when she started chewing... :D Please do some more Joyce Grenfell - in particular stuff from her TV show. :)

Hi Jodie, Nick, I had a feeling that you'd both appreciate this as soon as I saw it was Joyce Grenfell. Knowing that you're both teachers (educators), is it possible to know what age groups you bot teach ? I feel that Jodie teaches older pupils than Nick. Correct me if i'm wrong. I'd have been very happy to have had teachers like the two of you when I was at school, and I started school in 1969. I love your reaction Tubes, keep them coming ... Dougie from the UK.

I have watched your reactions to some WILTY classics but if you think that is funny then you really should try out the legendary BBC radio show "I am sorry, I haven't a clue", especially from some years ago when the chairman was the equally legendary Humphrey Lyttelton. Joyce Grenfell a comedy genius comes from a time when comedy wasn't about trying to prove who they are like so many boring selfish comedians do today as they didn't need to. Can think of a number of natural women comics straight away back then that come to mind that are naturally funny who have me laughing. As well as Joyce Grenfell, Dora Byan, Bella Emberg, Esma Cannon, Rita Webb. Hylda Baker, Patricia Hayes, Dandy Nichols who was so like my Gran in 'Till Death us do part ' would suddenly come up with with a random comment where the subject had finished over half an hour earlier....... and the list goes on.
