I understand the Zoro take, but I do think that given everything we know now about Zoro's durability, being a CoC user, and generally just having that dog in him, I don't think he would've died to Helmeppo lol he would've found a way to survive. idk what he would've done going further but if he remained a bounty hunter, he mightve ended up meeting marine Luffy since they'd have a similar goal

The East Blue Strawhats, except possibly Sanji, and Coby would be fine. I can see Garp test the trio by having them take down the pirates of the East Blue. Taking down the Kuro Pirates could lead to exposing Morgan and saving Zoro or a simple visit to the town would have them correct his injustice. Even if Morgan isn't exposed, it could ruin Kuro's plans enough to have him resign to just being Kya's butler forever since he pretty much had full control.

I could imagine Garp training them for a year and taking them into sword ... they would then investigate Corruption and complaints about morgan gaining Zorro. Then getting stories of Buggy terrorizing a village could lead to them beating Buggy (0 difficult after a year of garps training) and Nami telling them about Arlong. So Zorro and Nami would be rather easy additions. They may could stop in syrup village to restock food and hear about a migthy Pirate captain leading 8000 men -> meeting Usopp with the right timing of beating Kuro who happends to attack with the worst possible timing. Similar they could stop at the Barite because Luffy eats so much with the right timing to beat Krieg. Then they land on Arlong Park and once again a Zero difficult win against him. So the original members would be an easy addition. Helping Vivi against an evil organisation would also be in the realm of what a Marine could do since she is a Noble of the original 20 families. But they would most likely be forced to help Warpol so no Chopper and arrest Nico Robin on sight so also no Robin. When finding out that Mr 0 is Sir Crocodile they could have seen enough to revoke his Title after talking to the Marine HQ or maybe Croc attacks them to stop them from telling on him and Luffy just beats him. Franky would not Join and they have no real reason to attack Moria since he is attacking Pirats.

I feel like a lot of these "What if luffy was a marine" videos don't take into consideration the fact that luffy invented gears because akainu beat his crew, if he was in the marines he wouldn't have fought akainu so we wouldn't have invented gears and the gears were the build up to reaching his awakening meaning that without gears he would stay at square 1 with his df and he wouldn't awaken

@@Problemsolver434, Akoiji is currently in the Black Beard Pirates, and Akainu killed Luffy’s older brother Fire Fist Ace, so Luffy wouldn’t have developed Gear 5th if Luffy was a Marine, and he’d be at the basic skill sets of his Devil Fruit abilities if he worked for the Marines considering that the main reason Luffy developed Red Rock, Red Hawk, and Gear 5th in the first place was because he wanted to become stronger than the Yonko and Admirals since Ace wouldn’t have died if it weren’t for the Admirals and Yonko, so these what ifs can’t work even in an alternate timeline of One Piece.

I've been refining my own "What if Luffy wanted to be a Marine?" story for over a year now and am almost to the point where it's ready to share properly, so I won't go into a lot of detail here, but I will say that in my version it is just Luffy as opposed to all three brothers and he still sets out at the same point as in the original timeline, so he still meets all of the same people, though because of his different dream he handles a lot of things differently.

Sorry to do this, but Ace’s death is a cannon point. During the civil war, Luffy having always wanted to fist Akainu. Is about to die when Ace gets fisted by Akainu making a giant donut hole. However, instead of being traumatized this shock and Aces final words actually make Luffy’s devil fruit awaken. And uses “gum gum no white galaxy impact”

I can see this story folding out with Ace, Sabo and Luffy each following one of the marine admirals and their specific justice. Ace would obviously follow Akainu and it would not surprise me if Akainu would suggest attacking the Yonko. Going after Whitebeard where he and Ace die this to give Luffy some needed character development and the notion that absolute justice is not the way. You can also have a plotline with Sabo who follows Aokiji and the revolutionary army. Luffy would probably follow Kizaru with his unclear justice to form his own justice in the end.

I strongly believe that even IF Luffy, Ace and Sabo became Marines, and gotten to relatively high rank, I.E. Rear or Vice Admirals, that the Marines would still kill them... Maybe not Sabo, but Ace and Luffy, yes, I think that they would use CP0 to create an "Accident" at sea, or secretly hiring a STRONG pirate crew to kill them at sea. Worst case, they would even OPENLY execute them, Garp be damned. They are descendants of Great Enemies to the WG, look at Akainu, he would GLADLY kill a Marine if it came out that the marine was related to say, Kaido or Big Mom? I think so.

Luffy if he was going to the nearest marine office would have still met Zoro and would recruited him as a swordsman and kicking axe's ass on the note that garp is known for doing what he likes. Knowing Luffy's hunger he is still visiting Baratie and would have picked up Sanji because for luffy it is important that he has a great chef in his ship or base to feed him well. Usopp and Nami wouldnt have been a part but there is hope for Nami if she asks for help from Luffy. Zoro be a marine or pirate would have pursued for great swordsmen to fight and win. Sanji would take all the voyages as a chance to find All Blue. But the way sword works Garp would have created a crew consisting of ASL, Zoro, Sanji & others, which in their own way might come across one piece.

Luffy wouldn’t join the ranks of the Marines unless Ace and Sabo joins the ranks of the Marines, and considering that Sabo joined the Revolutionaries, and Ace joined the White Beard Pirates it’s very obvious that Luffy would never join the Marines even in an alternate reality not just for the reasons you’ve mentioned, but also the reasons I always mention too.

for me if luffy become a marine i think a marine well inspired him idk which marine tho and when luffy reach the right age for marine enlisting garp take him to his ship and sail the blues theres a chance that the ship encounter alvidia ship if luffy want to steer and recruit coby theres no need to go to the village nami in since the corrupt marine there, so nami's village perish and prob her too and theres no need to go to morgan's marine base but if garp know the corrupt marine there or luffy wants to go there and find out the corrupted marine he would prob be mad about corrupt marines abusing they power and as garp said to luffy that they will report this to the higher up, when garp back is turn he ask zoro to join, zoro said the most angry get lost and garp hear that and recurit zoro and end of thinking capbility
