In this how to tutorial I show you how to bypass your factory bose amplifier. Bypassing the factory bose amp can give you more control and capabilities for your sound system. Once you tapped in to that speaker wire and bridge those...do not plug that plug back into the amp? I noticed you left it out.. wasn't sure if that amp was powering other things in the car...

Instead of running new wires you could just jump the wires from the input side of the amp plug to outside of the amp plug bypassing the amp, you made a lot more work for yourself man.

@@jeremyclark9705 wouldnt recommend but yes it does work. but it’s like plugging an extension cord into itself but there’s a power wire that powers the extension (so it’s always on aka dead battery in the mornings) IF IM NOT WRONG

@@ericnicolini-calderon1337 Old comment but for others who might stumble on this.. If you jump the speaker wires from the input side of the amp to the output side you would bypass the amp entirely. You would only hook up the speaker wires, meaning the factory amp would *not* turn on (no signal wire to tell it to power on) and therefore it wouldn't drain your battery.

That's what brought me here. The fuse under hood pops as soon as I put it in and I'm wondering if I can just cut them and splice them together just to get sound. I have a car that's got a system but in the minivan I'm not tying to do all that. Just want it to work.

You can use a 9volt battery and a couple clip leads to find polarity on a speaker 👍

Gotta love laying down in trucks. Did the same thing in my 2016 Infiniti Q50 RS 400. Installed the audio control DM810 with 10 channels of highs and mids, then a JL HD1200 with a JL 12W7AE. Sounds so much better than the worthless blows system.

To find correct phase without a phase tester you can also use a 1.5 battery just touch the speaker leads to both ends of battery and the other ends of the wire to speaker if you if you have correct leads the speaker will pop out if not it will suck in.

Couldn't i just run the input wires from factory amp to the inputs on the new aftermarket amplifier...? Then take the output wires from factory amplifier and wire those to the output on the new amp...im trying to understand why i need go behind factory radio unit for a signal if they already there from the factory amp only thing i should have to do is run a 4-8ga power wire and ground wire for new amp? Jus a theory

I’m wondering can you just just take out the factory amp and tap right into wire harness with a 4 channel amp. I’m trying to get a louder clearer sound in my Denali. I guess I could still run it the way jp did just would have to run the power wire to the battery but I’m wondering if I could use the power wire that’s powering the factory amp and would the gauge be efficient enough

Great video, bro. 1 question: Can I just cut all wires from connector side of harness ( factory amp side of harness ) , then tie my new speaker lead-wires into that connector harness, from the NEW amplifier, and reconnect connector side of harness back into factory harness? That should get power to all speakers if done correctly, then I can run power and ground, may not even need remote wire to radio bc factory harness has remote which I have connected behind aftermarket headunit already. I already installed a Interface kit to retain steering wheel controls- which is working great, but factory amp keeps cutting off, so this is my plan to bypass.

One thing though. The higher wattage of the new amps your putting in and the increase in amperage, the factory gauge wires aren't big enough. So it's better to run new wiring and not power and speaker wires together throughout the entire run.

You can bypass the amp with a harness from OWC Upgrades. It just plugs into the factory connections and then you connect your aftermarket gear to it. Best money I ever spent.

Trying to do this in a 2010 Altima 2.5s with Bose. Don’t want to remove factory door speakers and want to just connect the 4 doors speakers and none of the others. Can’t find the correct wiring diagram at all and don’t have these tools or where to get them

Why didn't you just jump the wires from one harness to another (therefore bypassing the amp) and use the Metra 7551 (or whatever the connector is that allows for speaker level connection behind the head unit) which should let you use the cars stock wires to carry the signal to the speakers?

JP, clarity in Camaro fog! Thanks for that! Sorry this is long. I'm asking this question in becasue I need a little guidance. I have a 2017 Camaro 1LT, non-bose "a nightmare for audio upgrade. I replaced all speakers with 500 watt Kickers (2 ohm), but the horrible factory amp only pushes about 40 watts and happens to control many other functions. Shameful for a Camaro right!? Do you think I can use your method to bypass the factory amp, "without changing the head unit". Everything on my vehicle is controlled from the head unit, changing is not an option. In my mind's eye, I use your procedure on the amp output side, and wire directly to the new 4 channel amp (make still undetermined), input, then connect the speakers to the amp output. Would you do it this way? Or should I take only the audio signal coming from the head unit and wire (bypass) to the new amp? I feel like I should use some kind of digital level control mid-stream, before the new amp input. If you help me through this, I will put your banner on my car! How would you go about adding additional amp/s to a factory head unit that already has built in amps? Had a question I got a 2005 envoy Denali with the Bose system I put coaxials and all the doors but the front speakers are only putting out bass no highs is there a way to bypass this or do something about this without rewiring the whole system .. @jptheinstallguy so i have an 2014 infiniti q50 and want to add 2 amps 1 for sub and 1 for new speakers and also add a dsp with new speaker wires. So what i would want to do then is at the factory amp the input wires that go from the factory radio to the factory sending signal. I would tap into those wire and connect to the dsp then connect rca's from the dsp to the aftermarket amp's then connect the speaker wires from the amps to the speakers and sub CORRECT or no.

This was bypassing the amp to an aftermarket radio so in that case yes but if your amp has gone out with the factory radio still in than your better off replacing the bose amp.

Using this car as an example, would you run rca’s from the aftermarket stereo to the rear aftermarket amp? Then use the “outputs” of the Bose to hook up to aftermarket amp output? That way you don’t need 9 wire right?

There's a great tool out there to test the speaker wires to see which speaking is on the other end (popping it) AND determine polarity. And you probably already have one at home! No need to spend more money. It's called a 9V Battery. Ever-Ready and Duracell make some nice ones. All you do is use a couple of small electronics jumper cables, or even the bare end of the wires if you don't mind dealing with shorter wires, and place the battery across the wires. That's it! You'll hear the speaker pop, and you'll also be able to see which direction the cone moves to verify polarity. Just make a note of which wire is hooked up to the + on the battery.

if you have the right wire harness it should integrate just fine so no need to bypass unless you want to run your speakers off the radio or another amp

this is the way. bypass that factory amp and use the speaker wires from the amp side as signal for your LOC or processor and use the speaker side wires to run to your 4ch

@@pirruripirruri4731 Go to the Diyma forum and ask them... I think that Bose headunit might be processing the signal before it gets to the amp/speakers... Bose shit sucks though... I definitely wouldn't put a Bose headunit into a non-Bose system... They sell double din stereos on Amazon for as little as $40... I'd buy one of those cheap ass units before I forced myself into dealing with a Bose that's going to fuck up the signals and give you sound problems.

Is it possible to bypass the factory amp with out sending wires to the stock stereo? In other words can i bypass the factory amp and just connect everything str8 to my aftermarket amp. If so how??? Do i tap into the factory input wires to gain signal for the rca converter box for the amp and tap into the factory output wire to connect the amp to send signal from the aftermarket amp. Because Im really trying to avoid taking my whole dash apart and doing it that way. i located the factory amp in the trunk so i figure it be easier if this is possible. not really the only harnesses ive seen are for those that the maestro AR can be programmed to and thats only for a select few cars, but that is only for amp integration not bypassing.

Hello so you don't plug the amplifier connector back? Just leave them unplug?

Sorry for late response it yes the only time I'll plug it back in is if there is a factory sub 😉 that way I can amp the door speakers and keep the sub playing as well

Would it be possible to... Say you swap out the premium bose amp to a luxury bose amp? I have a aftermarket Kenwood head unit already in there. Would it work.. I have a 2008 chevy silverado LT..I got the Luxury amp out of a 2011 denali

uuummmm i dont think so it would have to have the same connectors so probably just the same bose amp for that car will work, but might just want to ask the dealer

I have a 2005 suburban with the bose amp. If i take the speaker wires from the factory and connect to an after market amp to run my door speakers. Do I or can I also run the power and ground as well or do I even need to do that? I already have an amp for my 12 inch subs. Im trying to avoid running 2 amp power cables to the battery.

Use a distribution block to provide power to the second amp... That way you can tap into your original power cable, and then just run a second cable that's only 2-3 feet into the new amp, and of course give it it's own ground (or use another distribution block as a ground block). Also make sure that your power cable is thick enough to handle the additional wattage of the second amp.
