Persona 3 Opening Reload just released a few days ago... If you're deciding what game to start with each game has a theme and it's up to you what interest you the most. Persona 3 focus on the value of life and death Persona 4 focus on the truth and accepting yourself Persona 5 focus on rebellion and reshaping society

I love how quickly you picked up on the color schemes of the games and started identifying them from those cues - particularly when the trailer for the crossover game uses the colors from both and you were momentarily confused. Just goes to show how strong the visual identity of the Persona series became.

To expand on that, they aren't needlessly violent or cruel in their actions. They aren't even necessarily anti establishment (except for maybe one particular member of the group). They only target people that abuse their power. They could really only be considered terrorists in a technical sense.

All of the singers are Asian, although they might sound other wise via rhythm or voice they are all asian who put dedication to their craft with learning english and singing in a variety of genres.

So @LeshawnKBM you have been wondering what the butterfly means in Persona. Well I can give a small explanation. In Japanese Symbolism, a butterfly means the personification of someone's soul. In Persona that means the soul has taken a form that awakens a Persona. The butterfly also corrolates to a character in Persona 1 and 2 called Philemon, while the butterfly still shows up in the other games, Philemon doesn't. Which in those games there are Velvet Room Attendents who are fragments of Philemon watching over the protagonists of each of those games.

Butterflies represent souls in many cultures. Some old Celtic and Gaelic legends say a butterfly (your soul) will fly out of your mouth when you die. The proverb "I dreamt I was a butterfly" is Chinese, like the other guy said. It's about not knowing who your real self is because when you are in a dream you might be utterly convinced you are something or someone else, but then you wake as just a human and can feel lost. This is really good symbolism for the Persona series, which is all about examining your own soul and discovering/accepting various parts of yourself.

The chibi animation games are called Persona Q and Q2 they are crossover games with each other 3-5. That's why you see the cast of 3 and 4 in Q1 for example.

Persona 3: FES for PS2 was my first introduction to the series and it was love at first sight. It also gave me incentive to try out the main line Shin Megami Tensei games, which I also fell in love with.

Honestly now is the perfect time to get into Persona since Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal are on Steam, PS4/PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and Switch. Plus the remake of Persona 3 called " Persona 3 Reload" is coming out very soon on PS4/PS5 and Xbox Series S/X.

The concept of persona games is based on two things. 1. The literal definition of the word Persona. An aspect of ones self that they portray to others and the Greek origin of the word literally meaning mask. And 2. Jungian psychology. One of Jung's main theories is that people have a part of themselves that they not only don't like but just being aware of it causes you so much stress that you bury it in your subconscious. This is your shadow self. So in the games there are areas where for lack of a better term the astral plane from X-Men bleeds through and meshes with the real world, shadows manifest physically as the monsters you have to fight and the heroes by accepting there shadows as a part them transform their shadows into personas that they can use to fight.

the butterfly is philemon, who only appears in persona and persona 2, from 3 on the butterfly is meant to symbolize philemon watching and choosing the new persona protag.

Fun fact about Q2. Not only is it a collab of 3, 4, and 5, _the soundtrack_ is too. Each game had a main singer, and Q2's opening is trio between them.

The games with the chibi grapgics are Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth and Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth, and are a crossover between Persona 3-5 and my second favorite video game series of all time, Etrian Odyssey, known in Japan as Sekaiju no MeiQ (which is where the Q in Persona Q comes from), making the PQ duology two of my favorite Persona games. The first PQ has P3 & P4 characters and the second has P3, P4, & P5 characters

Ok So about that persona 3 guns thingy... while normally it is strongly connected to the idea of unliving yourself, the symbolism and the message of persona 3 is on quite contrary side. Pointing an evoker at yourself and pulling the trigger is instead a reminder of one's mortality and a will to put your life on the line to fight for a thing that matters the most to you. The core messege of P3 is - you are mortal. You will die. So make sure to make the most of the time that was given to you. Make friendships, bonds and cherish every moment.

Also that the Evokers are designed to basically scare the users into reflexively summoning out their Persona because the Dark Hour is extremely close to normal reality so it's way harder to summon there as a result. The reason they decided to go with Evokers is because the Kirijo Group is just weird like that (to put it nicely).

The characters in Persona 3 aren't actually pointing guns at their heads, they're special devices called Evokers that allow them to summon their personas. Personas are basically just stands from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure except you can have multiple of them kinda like Pokémon. The reason the Evokers look like guns and are pointed at their heads is because the entire theme of Persona 3 is about sacrifice and trying to fight against the inevitability of death.
