Yes celebrate your video even if you couldn't get it unstuck but now you know why and you got to show Ralphie another valuable lesson in engine mechanics not every engine will run. It was 42 yrs since anything was done to that one so obviously it was too long. Great video.

If you are want to make the old engine to run you should try to take a piece of wood and a hammer and beat down on the pistons (not too hard) to hopefully shock them loose. Btw love the vids keep it up!

Hey buddy that was a good try. With it sitting for 40 years you can't beat yourself up on it. You can still fix it up just put another four cylinder in it and make it a small family vehicle. As always Rocky trips me out. Rocky son you should name him ( little Rocky Junior ) after all it is his son. Rocky's just like everybody else you can't hate on barbecue. Good video brother. Your first stopped the crank-pulley bolt, and the broke it off. The crank will have to be removed, and drilled to insert a heli-coil, thus removal of the engine is a must. A substitute four cyl, and manual trans from another car, might make the most sense.

You may not have the room in that engine compartment but I,'ve freed up a 59 cadillac v8 with a 3ft chain wrench and cheater pipe around the harmonic balancer. Scared up the balancer a bit but didn't snap the bolt. Trans fluid in the cylinders, cleaned up the carb and got it to fire up. Smoked up the neighborhood when she fired up😁

1st new car, 1970 Opel Kadett, 2door coupe, $2,000 😋. Took one year of driving it 70 on I-75 rendering the engine useless. Rush hour stop and go in Detroit, one rainy morning, Semi with no trailer hit the brakes behind me, couldn't stop at low speed, my bumper ended up at the back of the back seat. Bought it from a Buick Dealership, deep blue with white interior🚙 . John here, from the back-roads of Northeastern Tennessee.

I've always loved the Opel Kaddet. If the car were mine, I would find a Chevrolet 2.8 or a 3.4 engine and trans to put in it. They moved the 80's S10 and Camaros well enough and would be plenty of power for that car. They're also compact enough to fit in the engine compartment without too much of an issue.

Had two of these two-door "caravans" back in the days.....a '72 1900 "wagon" I drove in high school.....plain-jane, 4spd, carbureted, & dog dish hub caps. Second was later, after getting married....it was a '75 1900 Ralley(!) package with sporty steel Ralley wheels, extra gauges at the front of the console, and Bosch fuel injection! 😯......Both were the same green as your '69, but slightly "modernized" body style. Also, my great-aunt had a '73-74 1900 4dr "noth-back".....(we called it a sedan🙄) It was Carolina Blue with black & white interior and auto transmission..... Neat lil cars, for sure!

A 2.2 Ecotec and a 5-speed out of an old S-10 would be a good swap with plenty of power. Kadetts weigh about the same as a Festiva. You don't need 300 horsepower to go really well. The CIH engine was made to fit under a lower hood line. The block dates from the fifties. Instead of a new engine, they just updated what they had.

I'd love to have that Opel and put a fresh Toyota engine in it. Like a Prius set up. Or just a 4 cylinder engine with all the goodies. Really enjoyed this Opal video. God Bless.

Pretty shot on the engine. Name Rocky’s Baby Junior . It would make a great car to convert to a drag car. It’s light enough.

I had a '68 Kadett Rallye with the 1900- it was a bear finding the metric Allen wrench for the head bolts back in 1974- I think we finally wound up ordering it through Buick - hey, if you could locate one, this little thing would be a screamer with an aluminum 215 Buick in it !!

I bought a project car and dropped the pan in the engine. It had two thrown rods and probably more than a few seized bearings. I would have waited forever for vinegar, wd 40, or Marvel, or diesel fuel to lube up rings and cylinder wall. Ok, the holes in the oil pan was a clue. Also, I once took and old pulley and had some angle steel welded to it to make a handle. This was to turn the crank without breaking the bolt. Or, to hold the crank while removing the bolt.
