Sadly, maestro Ozawa passed away last week. He’ll be greatly missed, and will live on in his numerous recordings. I’d like to share the link to a higher-quality video of this very performance, including Rostropovich’s encore: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ntSIfNdztM2-Zqc.htmlsi=ZG9j3rcBEg_GqclA May he rest in peace, and may we continue to appreciate his legacy.

Qué conjunción de talento, sensibilidad, potencia. Una caricia al corazón. Gracias a todos.
The Great Rostropovich! As a young Cellist, I had the privilege of going back stage reception after one of his Roccoco Variations performance and got a huge Russian bear hug and kisses on both cheeks! He will be cherished in memories!

Arguably the most beautiful, heartfelt concerto ever written. And did you notice Rostropovich's action at its conclusion?

Dvořák; A portentous concerto! Rostropovich, great! Seiji, a master director. The orchestra, wonderful! Very good recording and image quality.

@@hyldenira wait until you get to be this age! It’s not how you look on the outside, but rather how you feel on the inside that matters! How many ‘young’ musicians play this amazingly?

This is one of my favorite recordings of Dvorak's Cello Concerto. I love how much power Rostropovich always put into his performances.

Marvelous performance, not-so-good audio engineering. Fingers, hands and wrists like those of a man half his age. Personal comment: I envy those musicians who got to share the stage with Maestro Rostropovich for the rehearsals and performance(s), especially the first chair violinists. I once sang with a large choir and the Philadelphia Orchestra under his direction. Might have been Alexander Nevsky. One of the most memorable events in my musical life.

Recently a better-quality video -- both in image and in sound -- of this very performance was uploaded by the KZfaq classical-music-devoted chanel "192bps Sound". Under the link below you may find the video. I also strongly recommend having a look at the other videos which have been uploaded by the same person; they are not few and every single one of them is very worthy of your atention. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n7d0oKeomuCnaHU.html Enjoy.
