Consent is very important and can prevent horrible outcomes after sex or even during it. And using movies was a bad example, that’s why they’re movies. Movies aren’t real life and the actors had consented prior.

The question: "What is sex like?" can still be answered by people who haven't had sex yet or don't feel the need to. It's a very broad question and they have their own answers to it, and I'm glad they showed them because it shows you that it's not some "competition" to lose your virginity and that people are genuinely asexual and shouldn't be forced to conform and have sex if they do not want to. So, that's what sex is like for them, for example.

It’s just the attraction to other people, but it’s not like you would ACTUALLY have sex with them. That has been the case in my experience, at least. It’s very rare to find someone that only desires you throughout the length of your relationship if you’ve dated for a while.

I dont think they meant that they literally have to have sex each time with no choice. It's more like they try not turn each other down and in my personal opinion that is quite healthy. As a divorce lawyer I can confidently say that a large portion of the 50% divorce rate in the country comes from woman being sexually physically and mentally unavailable for a man after having kids. I like her thoughts on relationships as it truly speaks about how one can make their partners happy and not just themselves.

Consent is based on if somebody wants or doesn't want to have sex and they were talking about being pregnant and not feeling like it, but doing it for their partner anyways out of love and respect during that tricky situation. So, they wanted to please their partner, put their needs in front out their own which is very unselfish. They wanted to, for them, just didn't feel like it.

It was said in a shocking way maybe but it didn't sound like the opposite of consent at all. It sounded like meeting each other in the middle and prioritizing upholding sexual intimacy and meeting their partner's sexual needs in their long term relationship, even if they're not feeling exceptionally horny in the moment.

Not at all, that's just a mature couple deciding to see sex as it is: an important part of their relationship. They both agreed to it. Sometimes you don't want to do an activity, but you still do it for the person you love. Same with sex. A relationship is about compromise. And when you set rules like that, it's generally agreed upon that neither part will abise it.

I'm still hoping that Jubilee does a video with virgins (both male and female) who did not choose this themselves (religion) and are not virgins because of their sexual orientation (e.g. asexual). So basically, people who perhaps deal with anxiety, who just haven't had the chance yet, who feel like their looks hold them back, etc. People who identify as incels (but not the violent ones) and femcels as well. Jubilee does a great job with diversity and having multiple perspectives most of the time, but when it comes down to virgins I never really feel represented.

It's been like that for decades. I was a virgin at 20 and kept it a secret because people ALWAYS got something to say. Guys would look at me with a disgusting look that screamed what nasty things they wanted to do to me, meanwhile girls were either jealous, or wanted to pressure you into having sex. I lost it soon after turning 21 and I will say this. I VERY much regret losing it to my ex. If I could go back I would have lost it earlier to my first love, or kept waiting to just lose it to some random fine guy in a one night stand. Everyone is different. Lose it when you are ready and keep that secret to yourself. If you EVER hear anyone bragging they are a virgin KNOW that it is a lie so don't get tricked and tell them you are one because that can get you in a situation you don't want to be in. Real virgins NEVER brag about being a virgin (high schoolers) because of all this negativity around it as well as perverts that want to be the "FIRST to pop your cherry"

27 and still a virgin. I've been frowned upon by dates because they find it weird. But you know I don't care. My body my choice. I don't want to do it 'just' to do it. I need to emotionally connect with someone first and trust that person... and that takes time in my case. I haven't found someone yet whom I feel connected enough with and it's okay. Around 2:58 - i don’t like that they had an unspoken “rule” about not turning the other person down. If you don’t feel like having sex/aren’t in the mood it’s okay to say “no”. If your partner doesn’t feel like having sex - it’s a no and you should learn to accept it and move on. It shouldn’t be seen as a rejection type thing imo. Not everyone is going to be in the mood at the exact same time and no one should feel forced or pressured into sex just because their partner wants it. Idk that part just didn’t sit right with me.

I dont think they meant that they literally have to have sex each time with no choice. It's more like they try not turn each other down and in my personal opinion that is quite healthy. As a divorce lawyer I can confidently say that a large portion of the 50% divorce rate in the country comes from woman being sexually physically and mentally unavailable for a man after having kids. I like her thoughts on relationships as it truly speaks about how one can make their partners happy and not just themselves.

@@xa1239 The idea to not turn down your partner is a very slippery "rule" to have. Particularly for women as many of us feel obligated to please our partners sexually and are just learning to voice our lack of desire for sex. She's a well known sex therapist, and her promoting that should really be addressed. Something more healthy in my opinion is to set expectations and boundaries around how to turn down your partner in a respectful way.

Lots of them generalise their assumptions that everyone has to be attracted to other people outside of the relationship, or that everyone watches porn. But in reality, experiences with sex are very different from person to person. It is not as common sense as some other things are.

To the couple that "doesn't turn each other down"--that's not healthy! You don't have some kind of ongoing consent...every time you want to have sex, it matters that you're both down for it. She said it like she was so proud, but that's not helping anybody.
