***** What? 1983 had much higher audio quality than 2015. Source material is crap in 2015, and home audio reproduction is garbage. In 1983, many houses had at least a quality receiver and a decent set of loudspeakers.
@Afrobomination9 жыл бұрын
BillyBob Hammer The problem is when technology got cheaper to produce. Nowadays you just need to know what to buy. In recorded music, the usual problem is no dynamics because people think compression is actually a good thing. Even with modern releases, depending on what you get, the vinyl versions haven't been touched with that modern nonsense. But that's the fault of the people that think compression is actually a good thing, the same audio could have been put on cd but they don't want it that way. :/ I believe koolaidman9922 said this is good quality for 1983 compared to less professional live videos from this time. I'd love for Metallica shows from this year to be recorded like this.

I was 17 years old when this was shot and I was hanging onto the rail at the front of the stage. The day was a total roaster...with the only shade on that field being at the front of the stage (under the lighting gantry) or in the shadow of the control booth off in the distance. The air hung heavy with the smell of dust, heat, suntan oil and pot. I had forgotten just how good some of the bands that played this show sounded live...and how vivid everything was. We all knew that Rob was gay back then, even though he wasn't "out". It didn't matter. He kicked ass then and kicks ass now. Thanks for posting this! It's an awesome memory that came flooding back in while watching it!

***** (and to Warren 552011 too) Dave Holland was convicted in 2004 of indecency with a disabled lad whom he was giving drumming lessons to and was sentenced to 8 years. He was believed to have been released in 2012. He still denies the offence(s) and has said that he is preparing to write at some length to give his side of the story but the evidence was thoroughly unpleasant. Regarding Rob Halford's sexuality - that was an open secret when I got into Hard Rock/Metal in about 1982 (I'm 48 now - time flies...) and it wasn't a problem but I have to say that since then I've had heaps of problems from homosexuals as an adult and the news here in the UK is full of stories of homosexual men molesting boys in historic criminal cases dating back decades and Dave Holland is one such (he is open about his bisexuality). Its not PC to say it but many homosexual men have a thoroughly unpleasant and arrogant attitude as I can personally testify from bitter experience. I'm not suggesting of course that Rob Halford is this type of individual and I've always been an immense fan of his and the band as a whole and people's private sexual behaviour with consenting adults is just that and not an issue for most people myself included but one's view is tainted of gays for the reasons I've outlined. I'm also a fan of most types of rock and increasingly classical music as I've got older and as a Kate Bush fan and given that Rolf Harris contributed to two of her albums it was especially galling to hear of his predatory attitude towards young girls (he was sentenced to about three years - I can't remember the exact figure) but like Dave Holland his musical contributions cannot be erased from the master tapes even if this were desirable. I only became aware of the Divinyls as a backpacker around Australia in 1989 and sexy,sensual Chrissy Amphlett singing about "a fine line between pleasure and pain" - oohh!! It was sad to hear of her passing as it was of Jan Kuhnemund of my favourite all-female rock band Vixen whom I love to bits and many other rockers who have left us in recent times. Oh well, keep defending the faith people!!!

I was there on this Sunday only. Lived in Highland CA at the time. About 13 miles away from Devore, where this all happened. I was 19 years old, They opened with Hellion / Electric eye and then right into riding on the wind and Heading out to the Highway so this isn’t exactly the full set. But thanks for posting . Order of appearance was Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, Ozzy(first show with Jake) Judas Priest, Triumph, Scorpions and Van Halen. 20 bucks per ticket. Still have two T-shirts and my ticket stub. They eventually built a concert venue on the same spot that opened under the name Blockbuster Pavilion (as in the video rental store) I saw many shows there including Ozzfests, one with Ozzy and another with Sabbath until I left CA in 2005. Good times.

@mifune96349 жыл бұрын
Sigh Co. Bassist I can totally respect opinions on both sides of the coin regarding Iron Maiden front men. My preference for Paul has a lot to do with the punk element the band had during his tenure. I liked the rougher edge he brought to their music and presentation. Both were great front men though, and Bruce has aged much more gracefully.
