I Love Bruce, but the qualities you listed are precisely why Rob is better. He has far more tools in his vocal toolbox. It is so much more dynamic, and this song demonstrates a high ability to sing in the chest, mix, and head voice while utilizing vibrato and several other techniques to maximize their impact. The human Air Raid siren has never demonstrated that level of versatility. Though again, Bruce is amazing in his own right. @@richardblaszak162

I was there on that insanely hot day. I made it to the front to see Judas Priest with only my shorts and shoes. I lost my shirt, I was smart enough to give my keys and wallet to my friends who actually had pockets thinking they would be with me. Well, I get to the front, and they are nowhere to be found! Who cared? Not me! I was gonna see Priest live and see them from the front row! It took me almost 6 hours after to finally find them again drinking beer and eating with MY money! We got there as Quiet Riot was playing (which was kick ass, btw), totally zoned out during Motley Crue's set, started getting crazy during Ozzy's set and then Judas Priest played. Besides them, the Scorpions played the best set of the day. Van Halen headlined, came on about 2 hours late, and I was so tired and burned out I couldn't care less about that set! It was amusing watching a completely shit faced DLR stumbling and bumbling, and bangin women in his dressing room though (there was a midget with a mini-cam who barged into his dressing room). That was in 1983 and I remember that day like it was yesterday, an experience that I will never forget.

It's awesome to hear some experiences from those days; helps to picture the moment. I'm 34, I've been to concerts and festivals, seen many of the greats: Judas, Maiden, the Scorps, Motorhead, Metallica... just in the wrong decades. I wish I could have seen them all back when they were into full shape, and to breath the eighties as a young adult and not as a small child.

This is what happens when you have a great song practised and played repeatedly by a band who haven't got jaded and really want the audience to be blown away. The sum is really greater than all the parts and most of the parts are pretty special.

This song was composed by fusing two earlier songs. The main part of the song, including the riffs, came from "Whisky Woman," which was written in 1972 while original Priest singer Al Atkins was still in the band. The softer passage, building up tension for the climaxing ending of the song, came from a song singer Rob Halford had written called "Red Light Lady." K.K. Downing, Glenn Tipton, Rob Halford and Al Atkins are all credited for writing the song

I’ve knew about that, but since Red Light Lady demo available, it has got nothing to do with the whole song. So Victim of Changes is builded mostly from Whiskey Woman, but it changed a lot, original is more rockin’ bluesin’ Zeppelin stuff, the recorded one was more metal. Very interesting case how songs can change during the path, maybe they had the whole idea for the title from that 😊!

One of the maddest gigs I ever went to, was Judas Priest at the Rainbow, London. Iron Maiden were the support, I'd been following them for ages, seen them about 30-odd times by then, and only got tickets to see Paul D and the lads (I was front row in the video!). They played an absolute blinder. After Maiden finished their set, I moved to the back because the main event was over....or so I thought! Priest came on and just did their stuff and it was epic. Just Epic. Maiden were street, Priest were next level. Victim of Changes, Genocide, Beyond the Realms of Death....they were all there. And to wrap it all up, Rob Halford left us all with a parting gift. Scarred us for life, some might say (do your research)! Lucky not to be arrested!!
