First time hearing this song... the voice throws you, but before the end of the song you've already acquired the taste for it, and want to hear it again. And again. And again and again and again. You can listen to Painkiller a million times and it's always fresh, always gives tingles down the spine with a dozen OMG moments. The whole song is just one giant flex. Each band member is running at maximum power with maximum technique. I shake my head in disbelief - how can anyone be this damn good... and how can you group so many legends into one place without the universe imploding... Painkiller is "the song to beat" when it comes to sheer glorious metal intensity.

I began listening to Judas Priest in 1977. They became my forever fave Metal band when I heard the live version of Exciter released on Unleashed in the East in 1979. It set the stage for the future of Metal for me! If you have the time please listen to this live version from Unleashed in the East, for me this is when Heavy Metal started!!! Back in the day it was said that Rob Halford had a the vocal range of an operatic singer.

@@warhammer5690 I was lucky enough to be introduced to Priest after already being introduced to Dio, Sabbath, Ozzy, Maiden, and lighter bands like AC/DC and Def Leppard. The song 'Breaking the Law' was an MTV staple and the song 'Turbo Lover' was released that summer as well.. so by the time Painkiller was released, I was already into much more extreme metal. Poor Kel has only had a few weeks of Metal exposure on a major scale.. and with her music 'memory' training.. yeah. Painkiller would be like a freight train rolling over her brain if she was trying to process it that way lol. Peace

THE metal anthem. One of the greatest metal albums ever produced. A band that essentially started in the 60s kicking ass in the 90s and giving an all-around whooping. It's crazy how this song (and the whole album, actually) still holds up and passes the test of time. People listening to this for the first nearly 20 years after it came out are still blown away - as you just have demonstrated ;) There's a reason Priest are my 2nd favorite band of all time and Rob is my 2nd favorite vocalist of all time.

Blood Red Skies is such an epic song. It's not exactly underrated (because many fans love it and mention it) but it's definitely underplayed because it gets eclipsed by the more mainstream tracks like You've Got Another Thing Comin' or Painkiller

@@Walamonga1313 Not to mention, it was during the era that they used more synths. Would love to see them react to it.

@@FFVison I love Ram It Down and I wish it got more attention other than just blind hate for "ugh drum machine". For me it's the epithome of the "futuristic 80s" sound. The way everything souds metallic and echo-y is just awesome. Plus the solos in it are killer and the synths give it a different vibe.

I got sent home from school, for wearing a priest concert shirt. Lol. That was 4th grade, I think. Back then, this was just not acceptable. Haha. I would rock maiden and Nugent shirts, too.
