Sin After Sin was the album that got me into heavy metal in 1977 and it is still one that gets played regularly. Dissident Aggressor favourite track.

I heard best of first.i sold my bicycle to my my Grandfather for $5. My brother and I went to Kmart.i was looking to buy an album.i was looking at two. I asked my brother " hey Mike should i get this Neil diamond. Or should I get this Priest." He said." Get the Priest.Get the Priest" the only diamonds that can turn on my heart light are rusted.

"Sad Wings of Destiny" and "Sin After Sin" are my two favourite Judas Priest albums. My favourite songs on "Sin After Sin" are actually a tie between "Sinner" and "Dissident Aggressor", due to the amazing solos by KK Downing. I've always been a huge fan of Downing's tone and style, and he really put his style in the forefront on those two songs.

This album certainly made an impact. The double-kick approach paved the way for Motorhead, which was where metal started to get more and more aggressive. This is a bit of a transition album, where Priest is forging their musical identity, which they then executed on Stained Class, and built on in later albums. "The Last Rose of Summer" is probably the last remnant of primordial era Priest.

Couldn't have said better. Some consider Last Rose of Summer to be the weak track, I see it as a legacy of the romanticised pre-CBS Records era! Great comparison!

Sin After Sin is my favorite Priest album, & has been. In fact, 70's Priest is my favorite era, up till Screamin' for Vengeance in 1982. After that, I still liked them, but none of the LP's hooked me as much. I also love how, years later, Slayer covered Dissident Aggressor from this album. My favorite track on this LP is Let Us Pray/Call for the Priest, and Dissident Aggressor.

At 56, I have been a Priest for over 40 years and have met them all over the years (from the same neck of the woods) and they are all really decent fellas. I can say that no other band has ever meant as much to me. This album is as good as any and in many ways I often think it's their best. Lyrically after this Rob would start to become too focussed on 'metal' or simply too oblique to almost becoming a parody of themselves (but I still loved them. There is perhaps the greatest variety and display of their musical ability on this album more than any other.

As Ram it Down was my introduction into metal in 88 at the age of 13, my 1st Priest Music cassette was Sin after Sin. I was so disappointed because the sound and style was so tame and old-school compared to Ram... But over the years it really grew on me and now has a special place in my metal heart. Raw deal is awesome but my favorite is Dissident Aggressor. Heavy as fck.

Great video. I absolutely love this album. I still play it all the time. One of those few albums that I find pretty much find impossible to get bored of. KK's solo on the title track is sick. Here Come The Tears is one of their heaviest songs and I don't mean heavy as in downtuned and distorted. The guitars at the end as Halford sings "Here Come The Tears" is beautiful. My favorite tracks are Let us Pray and Raw Deal. If you told me I could only pick one it would have to be Raw Deal. Such swagger to that song. You know this album was a big influence on Dimebag. Dissident Aggressor should be used in a movie in a final battle to save humanity scene or something. Could be my favorite Priest album or maybe tied with Rocka Rolla

Sin after sin is one of my favorite albums . The songs , the drums , the moods and the cover art. I prefer the gothic logo myself . It have something desperate and mourning about it . This record is often overlooked even among Priest fans or metal fans . Despite few hits played on stage , as overall record . You talk in a queue of concert , you talk about Priest , you have most people picking painkiller , SFV , BS , Unleashed ,eventually and DOF or even Ram it down .. But when you mention Sin after Sin , they re with eyes brows like " what is that record? " like if it was a lost long bootleg .

The double bass 16th with the riff was introduced by Simon and Les in Judas Priest but this pattern existed already . Carmine appice was doing it with Cactus , not that different from today especially live speed wise , also BBA , in 1970 -1973. Pre Cronos bass distortion of Bogert . Fireball by Deep Purple 1971, I got Feeling by Jeff beck 1971 , Keepin'time by Trapeze ( yeah , Dave holland right here ) 1972 , of course Thin Lizzy Shalala 1975 , Rainbow Light in the black 1976's In another style , yet equally linked to heavy metal , you can find some speed metal double bass drum pattern and even thrash skan beat stuff on Mahavishnu orchestra records both by Billy Cobham and Narada michael walden in early / mid 70's as well than Billy cobham few solo records through the 70's and Alphonse mouzon Mind's transplant record ( 1974) featuring also Tommy bolin on guitar especially . Judas Priest took it and made it more extreme in a more thrashy way in the metal world in 1977/1978 . While Rainbow put a more frontal and less Heroic power thing with Kill the king too . Tommy aldridge contribued also for pre date the extreme drumming , with also an extension of roofs within the straight double bass patterns , Which notably influenced guys like Vinnie Paul already in the 80's and Scott travis himself . If you listen early , mid 80's Scott travis solos , he was from that " tommy aldridge " clone mould . Anyway , Aldridge did proto Annihilator with Pat travers , in Hammerhead , from the Heat in the street album (1978) . Then only after that you have Motörhead coming . Without minimizing Motörhead , some of thoses example , with Judas Priest inclued , were played faster than Overkill . Some stuff was created way before the official theories that Metal magazines spread .

I was introduced at 15 year of age to Priest after my older brother left a cassette laying around. I picked it up and played it on my tape recorder in 1978.. The double bass drumming on Exciter got me hooked. I then went and bought Rocka Rolla, Sad Wings of Destiny and Sin after Sin! They’ve been my favorite Metal band since! Dissident Aggressor is my favorite track off the SAS album. When I first saw Priest in 1979 during their Hell Bent for Leather/ Unleashed in the East tour.. As soon as Priest went on stage and Rob Halford rode in on his Harley and after the first two songs I was like “ He’s freaking gay!” Didn’t bother me none! The next day in high school that was the conversation of the day. Didn’t bother any of my classmates either!

I discovered this album after listening to Slayer's cover. The original Dissident Aggressor is way way better, true masterpiece, heavy to the core. In fact, I never listen to this album on 10, so I have some room to louden this song!

I’ve always thought that Simon Phillips absolutely breathed life into the drums on this album. After first hearing him on Sin After Sin I can usually pick out his playing on other albums, like Pete Townsend’s White City album. He has an unmistakable style. One of the best!

This is my favorite Judas Priest album and also one of my favorites overall. This could definitely be in my Top 10 besides albums like Queen II and Powerage. My second favorite Judas Priest album is, don't laugh, Turbo. Third is Painkiller.

Sinner is my favorite. Simon's drumming, that 70s guitar sound and wild effects, the breaks, lyrics. It just all comes together on that song. I love the whole album, but if I had to choose one track, it would be Sinner.

Sin After Sin is terribly underrated my favorite song and its a tough call is last rose of summer such a deep passionate song i know every word of it and i sing it loud and proud everytime i listen to it. Sin After Sin is a vastly underrated album. It's a shame that so many miss out on such a great selection of great songs. Tracks like Starbreaker, Raw Deal and Dissident Aggressor seethe with energy and intensity all the while Last Rose of Summer and Here Comes The Tears express such a deep range of melodic variation and melancholy.

If anything it seems Sin After Sin is vastly underrated. Especially being released between such legendary albums Sad Wings of Destiny and Stained Class, it seems a bit overlooked now. The mainstream pretty much ignores it, the only songs you hear on rock radio are Living After Midnight, You've Got Another Thing Comin' and Breaking The Law. Sad too because it is an amazing album. Maybe over in Europe and the UK and the rest of the world it is more widely received but here in the US it doesn't seem to get much notice.

The first time I heard Diamonds & Rust was way back when I bought my first Judas Priest album ages ago, a pirated cassette copy of Rocka Rolla. I had no idea that it was a cover song, even less that it was not indigenous to this album but it was easily my favorite song on it. The melody, Rob's three part harmonies at the end of the song, the guitar harmonies, how the drums sounded, their beat... It was and still is so much more raw and honest compared to the version on Sin After Sin that I heard many years later. To this day Diamonds & Rust play an important role in the healing process every time I breakup with a girl.

Dissident Agressor wins hands down, however the entire album is brilliant. Here come the tears is one of their finest ballads. But Dissident rules, as one of the greatest metal songs ever written, performed and recorded! I had the honor of playing it live at a Judas Priest tribute show in 2015. My 16 year old self was alive and well! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

I love Dissident Aggressor. One of the songs I used to be able to sing and it was a good warmup. In addition to the high note at the beginning, the chorus is pretty good for alternating between notes in different octaves somewhat rapidly. That said, even from a non-technical standpoint, song kicks ass.

I first heard "Dissident Aggressor" via Slayer's cover on South Of Heaven. I assumed at the time that they'd added the double bass because it didn't even occur to me to think Priest would have been using it in '77. Imagine my surprise when I finally heard the original some 10 years later.

I actually think it might be one of the most underrated ones from Sin After Sin. Wich they would play it live more often!

I have brought 5 copies of Judas Priest’s Sin After Sin Album. The first copy I got was in 1992 . The entire album is phenomenal. If I have to choose just one track as my favorite track it would an toss up between Starbreaker and Dissent Aggressor🤘🏿

I think the best song on the album is Starbreaker, but there are so many legendary tracks on here. I think I shall blast the screaming for vengeance tour version of sinner here.

The title track's my fave. I used to have the cassette, one of the really old-school ones with just a j-card (no lyrics or credits) and off-white shell that I bought for something like five bucks.

Diamonds And Rust is one of Priest's best songs, and they didn't even write the song. But they redid it so awesomely, it may as well be.

My very first Priest album! Sinner, Starbreaker, Diamonds and Rust and Dissident Aggressor should´ve been mainstays but with all the great stuff that followed it´s clear why they whip them out only occasionally. I always loved Here come the tears, but Raw Deal is my favourite JP deepcut and thus my favourite from this album

I saw judas priest on the sin after sin tour. They were the opening band my friends & I were into the under ground metal scene. & judas priest were at the top of the list. I bought my 1st copy of sin after sin in its 1st week of release. & yes it was a game changer. I already had rocka Rolla & sad wings for a full year by then. When they belonged to the world & got into the leather thing they lost me. So for me. The 1st. 3 albums can't be topped. Cheers from the USA 🇺🇸

My favorite track on Sin After Sin in The Sinner! It is a true metal symphony. The huge diversity of musical themes, changing time, its almost prog in metal. And off course the Halford's vocal is amazing. Last Rose is my second choice. Then Diamonds and Rust and Row Deal. Dissident Agressor I liked more whI was a kid. Now it sounds to me a bit primitive.

I actually listened to this the other day and noticed for the first time on my vinyl copy the weird pairing of Call for the priest/Raw deal. Good to have that one cleared up, although it was sort of self-evident that it had to be a misprint.

Also, I would be very careful about claiming it to be that revolutionary. The galloping rythms or fast pounding double bassdrums were not unheard of in 1977, not by a long shot. Purple (Hard lovin' man, Fireball, Space truckin'), Sabbath (Symptom of the universe, Thrill of it all), Budgie (Breadfan, Napoleon Bona part 1 & 2, and Zeppelin (Immigrant song, Achilles last stand) did it all before (not to mention tons lesser known acts of the early 70's), and Rainbow did it at the same time (Light in the black, Kill the king). It certainly was an important record for Priest, but rather as a natural evolutionary step than a groundbreaking release. Soundwise I honestly don't hear much difference from its predecessors but the songwriting is definitely more confident and focused this time around and it is together with Killing machine probably my favourite by the guys. Best songs are the bookends; Sinner and Dissident aggressor respectively. Brilliant stuff!

I love Sin After Sin. All the songs are good but I have to go with Sinner. Probably the fastest metal song recorded up until that point. Sad Wings to me overall is an even better album though. And I love Rocka Rolla too. Criminally underrated. But Priest stepped it up to yet another level with Stained Class. Amazing album. Listen to Exciter and Saints in Hell and you hear thrash metal at its inception. All hail the Priest!!!!

I think one key point missing is the track "Here Come The Tears" which completely paved the way for the acoustic to heavy dynamic that would catapult bands like Metallica, Pantera, and Megadeth onto actual radio charts.

The historical importance of Sad Wings and Sin and Stained is immeasurable. On Sin after Sin, I love pretty much every track. Let us Prey is the fast one, precursor to Exciter. Dissident Aggressor is the heaviest, Sinner is so freaking heavy. I even like the dark and brooding Here come the tears, a moody ballad which explodes into something of a heavy blues as it progresses. But… maybe I will go with Raw Deal, not because of the lyrics, but because it has an insane amount of riffs. It is like a more complicated version of the groovy Genocide. So, Raw Deal it is for me. Tomorrow, I might say Sinner. The day after that Dissident Aggressor.

It’s too close to call, but my favorite all time priest song has to be dissident aggressor followed closely, on sin after sin, sinner and raw deal. I’ve never really thought about this album as groundbreaking. Sad wings of destiny yes. It is a great album though. It’s an album that gets overlooked
