It has been a long time since I looked at this. People are quibbling about the naming of the technique. Weight on uke's foot, or not... various things. In translation, "de ashi" is "advanced, or advancing foot". "Ko soto = "Minor outer" "Barai = Sweep" . "Gari= Reap" Call it whatever you like, but hopefully you can apply the ideas put into it better than I can name it :) .

Brilliant and calm sensei :) however De-ashi-harai is a sweeping motion (uke's weight is lifted off the foot or has not yet transfered his weight onto the foot). Ko-soto-gari is a reaping motion when uke has some weight on the foot or has transfered some weight onto the foot :)

This is certain not Ko soto gari. The weight of Uke should be on his heel.

That is De-ashi-harai, not Ko-soto-gari. The kuzushi is also for De-ashi-harai. for Ko-soto-gari you have to be more on the side of uke.

I don't want to sound desrespectful to the sensei but this is NOT a ko soto gari. It's clearly a de ashi harai.
